10k Lag Spikes Fixed = I Will Come Back

donjndonjn Member UncommonPosts: 816

There it is. I loved the graphics, the gameplay and loved the combat. My Bear Shaman was my most favorite character ever.

I left because of the lag spikes. I wonder if this was part of the reason others left as well. If so, it's a shame.

Servercode implementations and patching sorted this Oct/Nov. Gone.

Check the Tech Support forums now...the 10k lag spikes are gone.

The last time I played, my wife and myself had a blast. I am currently on break playing the free time Tabula Rasa, but I am getting bored there, and I am planning on going back to AoC.

But, 10k spikes are a thing of the past now...

    Cheers

Use one of your buddy keys donjn if you are curious to see if it will affect you. I came back early December and have not had one yet. I pray I have not jinxed myself now!

Yes, the lag spikes are gone along with most of the playerbase.

Unless you want single player game, I suggest you wait for merges and free time for ex-players.

Yes I believe you can. Just send it to a different email address. There is going to be downtime on the servers tomorrow so it will probably blow a day on your free time depending when you usually sit down and play. Check the schedule!!!!

So you might figure out when you want to sign up to re-try the game.

I have not had one in game for a long, long time. However!!! I had 3 last night on test server running DX10 everything maxed out. They were from a different perspective though as they happened in weird situations. I also had just 1 last patch on test, never on live version though.

For me they have been gone 5 months. Slim chance of them returning. If they do they can be fixed fast.

I have not had one in game for a long, long time.

Funcom has not had 500K players in a long time either. Like I said I hope the game is improving but I am not convinced it is yet. Ask me that question in a month if server merges go smoothly.

Just wait as imo for you AoC will not reach the standards you require ( aka LOTRO ) at minimum you should wait for new RPG system with all the crafting and professions changes and thats imo minimum 2 months from now.

Each time you resubscribe and get bored with the game the less chance you will be back for a while and enjoy it.

If I played any other game atm and think about checking AoC I would wait for patch 1.05/1.06 dunno in what patch we will get RPG and crafting changes.

There is a problem with some of the classes ( aka ToS ) that will NOT be fixed due scheduled RPG/ items stats changes.

Once that happens god knows what kind of balance we will have.
Atm most of the classes are quite balanced ( if thats even possible :P ) with few that are spiking up either to op or to nerfed ( mainly ToS and DT )

I would really settle for EQII at it's release standards. But you are right, I should really wait till they get some crafting changes and the itemization fixed.

Wow you mean it was FunCom's crappy code all along, at launch they told us all that the lag spikes were our ISPs fault.

How odd to blame their problem on a thrid party when it wasn't, FunCom has never tried that tactic before. Errff

The above posters are not being completely accurate... For the most part lag spikes are gone except for the new content area Ymir's Pass, you can still get some serious lag spikes in that zone...  But all the other zones seem to be lag spike free since Funcom fixed them a couple months back, at least in my experience

Welcome back RIT, what server did you pick after all, Cim or Tyr?

You should post in this thread http://forums-us.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=178014 and then link that post to Orion's consolidated thread that you've currently participated in. Would be great to see your return to AoC details on the official forums.

    Thanks, and again welcome back.

It's a good thing lag spikes are mainly gone but there are still big problems.

Biggest problem is still lack of endgame content. There is nothing interesting to do after you get to higher levels which is why people quit in the first place. Some kind of ladder system would be nice so that pvp would be more than just random ganking.

Iam just hoping it will happen soon ( funcom tm :) )
Some of the devs are already posting some info ... now waiting for patch 1.04 and new patch notes for 1.05.

Bits and pieces about gem crafting changes.

I want to preface this post by saying the plan for the gem revamp is well finalized, but implementation and testing will always incur some design modifications, especially at the detail level. We indeed expect this to be true for the gem changes. Generally speaking, I think the right time to release detailed information about a new system is after implementation and internal testing is complete, and again, this not the case for the gem revamp. However, I completely understand players have concerns about the fruits of their labor, so I'll try to address them. But understand that until you see a detailed "official announcement" post, everything is subject to adjustment.

Also on a general note, I'm very excited about the changes we have laid out and I think gem crafters will greatly appreciate the new system if all goes as planned. This is my honest opinion.

That being said... in the case with alchemy, the sheer volume of resources that existed prior to update 1.03 didn't allow us to somehow exchange existing 'dead mats' in player's inventories with used ones. The gem changes differ from this in the case of uncut gems. Your Tier X uncut gem should remain a Tier X uncut gem. The name will likely change, and the color may change (since there will be less colors). That's pretty straightforward. The gem color will also be more meaningful, but that's something I'm not going to talk about that right now.

However, the changes to cut gems will be significant. The current plan is to remove the random element of cutting gems completely, and also greatly reduce the number of cut gems. By my calculations, there are 1,440 unique cut gems that can be created under the current system. Without unveiling the specific mechanics we will be introducing, our target goal has always been to reduce that number to around or under 100. As a side note, we also are investigating a couple of minor improvements, such as stacking cut gems. But there is simply no way to cleanly convert a set of 1,440 cut gems to a set of around 100 (given different numbers, and different mods on different gems), especially because the old gems simply don't fit with the new gem mechanics. Then we would have to get into varied approaches depending on whether the old gems were socketed or not. Should we go that route, it would take significant resources we feel better spent on the new system itself. We will most likely use a combination of vendor buy prices and simple methods to ensure players won't be left deleting all their old cut gems. But to be honest, we'll be announcing the details long before the changes occur. If we properly inform players, they shouldn't be cutting a bunch of gems right before the revamp gets patched to the live servers.

Old gems already socketed should be left alone (even if under the new mechanics socketing the equivalent gem would be invalid). I use the word "should" per my preface at the beginning of the post. But because the changes represent a proper "un-nerfing" of gems, players will naturally cycle them out for gems cut after this change, using the Gem Solvent we've created for update 1.04.

An when Anarchy Online was down for over 48 hrs because of DDOS attacks by banned players, FunCom literaly told the subscribers the reason no one could log in was "The Internet is Broken"

It's actually part of the reason I left, as well. I stuck around until they "fixed" it, which really meant 5k lag spikes instead of 10k, but eventually had enough and left.

But hey, if they're gone. Great! I might hop on sometime.

HAHA made me laugh.. man I remember that. But I was reading their forums the other day. Someone wanted to come back and someone posted kind of a long post about what has really changed and .. well since AUG really nothing. Some posted taking 2h just to get a group is normal and will all that was said no on really disagreed.

They were talking about DX10 being on the test server and how slow it was blah blah and still waiting for all that ARMOR. Loved that game .. combat was a blast..
