Umm... you do realize that you don't get to set the rules for the forum... right?
If you don't want open debate... you'll probably need to take it to a private forum where you can control who has posting privledges.
With that said... I too am hopeful we get some update on DarkFall's status soon from Tasos. I would guess that since he hasn't said anything differently everything is going according to plan and the Release on the 22nd is still golden.

there are plenty of other posts for arguments... i don't want to report anyone but i'm sick of the same old tired arugments.. this thread is intended for people who like Darkfall and don't want to get bashed or persecuted for posting their support for the game... as far as rules... i'll report anyone who violates my post rules and leave that up to mmorpg.com moderator to decide...
Let's please keep this a friendly thread and try not to derail or side-track this into an argument.. this is most appreciated
I found this quote on their forums site that made me salivate w/ anticipation
"I felt like I was being shelled by artillery after some of the mobs unloaded their repertoire of spells on us. Screen shaking, firebombs exploding all around you, your friends screaming obscenities and running away... the game definitely has a tendency to abruptly take your head out of the clouds and grind your face into the dirt with its heel on the back of your head with no warning at all."
enjoy everyone
Another interesting quote off their sites as a forum member talks about "stealth":
"All stealth is ingame is the players own sense of sneakiness and clever use of the world around them (shadows, terrain, behind the mob/player etc) and their armor (i.e. leather is quieter than plater and less shiny) etc etc.
It's the players skill not the characters"
Hee hee, that's great that we will be able hide it seems, and be as sneaky as we want w/ the background environment. I anticipate a lot of ambush tactics
You wont even get this on the official forums lol. Please try though because if you think we're mean you've never played over there.
However, to be fair to the thread... I do hope that the game comes out on time with all the bells and whistles. I've been looking forward to a game like this since my Rune Scape days.

Hello my old friend.
I am getting increasingly curious as well
After having played Lotro, AOC and WAR in the last year I finally hope to get a healthy dose of mmorpg freedom for a change. Riding out bugs and other issues at launch won't be much of a problem for me. Even character races looks and animations which still are a bit clunky are not much of a concern. As long as they got the gameplay sorted, made the world and the choices you can make feel vast and open and give me my sense of true excitement in pvp.
My brand new bloggity blog.
Im very excited for the open world pvp as well

This is for those who are new to Darkfall and have no information on it. I hope this helps you out What I've found so far:
Features
Playable Races: 6 (Dwarves, Alfar, Humans, Orcs, Mirdain, and Mahirim)
Dwarves: pretty selfexplanatory.
Alfar: they look like a dark-skinned elfish-looking race, they have pointy ears and look mean
Humans: again self explanatory
Orks: Big brutish looking Humanoids, often bestial in nature that also appear in many MMO's, they have greenish skinn and big teeth "chomp chomp"
Mirdain: Look like light-skinned elves and they don't look as mean as Alfar.
Mahirim: Werewolf looking race, and very neat as these race does not appear in too many past MMO's. "Here doggy doggy, go fetch!" lol
General Info
- 1000+ skills and spells (supposedly all are trainable to a degree, so no build restrictions.. i.e. if you get tired of being a crafter build, you can train other skills... as to the limits i'm not sure though)
- Skill Degredation (supposedly skills do degrade with non-use, as to the extent, and when degradation starts is speculative at this time)
- Mob Seeding (supposedly if you're killed by mobs, they can loot you and use your weapons and share them if the A.I. permits)
- Mounts (supposedly you carry a figurine in your backback in which to summon your mount... as of now there's no restriction and should be available to all players.. of course they won't be free and you will have to purchase the mount)
- Power Leveling Skills (aka skill grinding... with the current game mechanics it's possible to grab a few friends *cough*guildeez*cough* and fireball(or whatever the offensive spell is callled in DF)/heal each other to cap those skill levels)
- Unlocking Skills (as in most MMO's some skills can only be unlocked through skill tree branching system. One example could be to unlocking Weaponsmithing or Armorsmithing, the player may have to achieve a certain level in Blacksmithing skill)
- Housing (you can build your house anywhere. But, it will most likely get burned down by any player in the game.)
Certain Mobs
Sarkih - slave race breed by the Alfar... suposedly these little humanoids can be vicious and cruel but very dumb. Supposedly Alfar can use this race to serve as scouts before Alfar raids (not sure how this will work in-game of if it's still going to be implemented... sorry as this is very old info... but let's hope somehow it's stays in the game because I like this idea personally)
Oaklords - are nature mob... probably like an lesser earth elemental in other MMO's as my best guess... they reside deep in forest and resent "intelligent" lifeforms as they feel this goes against nature (yeah sort does sound like elemental-ish mob)
Puma - self-explanatory (and no it's not a shoe :P )
Pleiosaur - okay i don't know how they're going to implement this but from past videos where they showed warbarges fighting each other, I'm sure this critter might play a role during such times... but who knows (geepers an aquatic dino... again old info so I may or may not be in the final product... let's just hope it is as it sounds cool)
Goblin - selfexplanatory (if you don't have an idea what a goblin is, you shouldn't be playing MMORPGs)
Black Knights - (Loot these guys to get wep/armor drops... these hellish lost souls are clad in decorated suits of platemail armor)
Possible Player Strategies
Healing Mobs - healing of mobs that are attacking a player, and then looting players corpse is possible. Keep healing the mob and let it kill the player. You should be able to loot that player's body and get no alignment penalty even if that player is of the same race. Alignment penalties only apply to direct attacks/damage onto your own race.
(Well that's it for now guys... I will be editting this specific post in the future to keep compiling any new info that's out there... enjoy) (Disclaimer: Information on this thread is not 100% verifiable and is subject change)
Also I was made aware of this thread http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296

The I love darkfall and am a raging fanboy thread.
hahah thank you so much
Yes not only will pvp be hardcore also pve will be extremely hardcore with very high AI from mobs never seen before in any mmo:)
Its alot moddeled by oblivion only better:)
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.
This was quoted from 2006 :
"you need Lesser Magic 40 to learn Greater Magic”, racial requirements such as “you need to be an Ork to learn the Frenzy skill”, etc. Many skills and spells can be learned freely.....We dont want to get into too much detail at this early stage, but spells will be divided into several different schools of magic: Lesser Magic, Greater Magic, Element of Fire, Element of Earth, Element of Water, Element of Air, Witchcraft, Spellsinging, Necromancy, Wild Magic, Arcane Magic and Ritual Magic. In addition there are some special spells that do not fit directly into any school of magic, such as racial specialty spells"
Hopefully they have not changed this for release on the 22n.
Another interesting quote about crafting from 2008:
"You can gather crafting materials from killing mobs, and looting and/or skinning them. You can harvest materials from the environment, for example from rocks, trees, bushes etc. You can get the materials faster from organized resource production, like mines and farms, while collecting in nature is slower. You can craft crafting materials used to build complex items when they’re made of building blocks. Finally you can kill players and take theirs"
Sounds like fun
Sounds like every other game out there with crafting . What is so "fun" about this way vs say an EQ Zek server?
Must be because it is DF it is "more fun" to do the same old thing.

just a general statement, some people like crafting other's don't.... hence i think crafting "Sounds like fun" just how i generally feel... that answer your question

Wheee! Its been a long time since I was around here (and that time spent entirely as a hater... mind you) but, hell, I can answer your question easily enough.
Its NOT different, at least not from every game. The way they word it makes it sound similar (in effect) to the way resources were harvested in SWG. You see....every other game has nodes. Ya know, little places you find and click on. They have spawn times...and blah blah blah, you get the point. In THIS case, you can harvest resources anywhere...there aren't nodes (per se). There ARE locations with better resource returns (like, say, harvesting iron from an iron mine rather than just pounding on boulders in a field hoping to find it), but these aren't like nodes at all...and it becomes rather competitive when they are globally located.
Anywho, just thought I'd add that based on what I read exactly (from what was quoted). You can just ad lib the rest of this post to something hateful about DF for me so I don't lose my troll cred.

Hi guys just a quick reminder to please read Post 1 for this threads rules. I am trying to keep this friendly space, and keep the level of topic derailment away from this thread. There are plenty of other threads to debate in, thank for adhering to the rules.

A quote that hints at what to expect w/ dungeons:
"You go into a dungeon, and so do your enemies. You don't just have to contend with the inhabitants of a dungeon but with the other players. As with everything else in Darkfall, there will be a lot of competition in controlling dungeons. Hidden bindstones can be found inside some dungeons where your group can operate out of, giving you a location advantage. You can also find rare treasure chests in some of Darkfall's dungeons, chests that you need special keys to open. "
I can only imagine and speculate as to how much guilds and factions may fight to control such spots
omg I cn't wait for Darkfall!
Tasos ist he truthand the light! !!
The game is seriously going to be epic, with a beautiful mix of PvP and PvE
Darkfall Travelogues!
Here is to hoping for the best!
I cant wait!
You do know that bumping your own post over and over is Bannable right?
Assassin's like to do it in the dark and from behind.
This must be the Troll mob, that is killable at level 1.
