From the videos I've seen it looks exactly like GTA, which is a good thing imo. The mission was like one of the gamemodes on GTA, Team Mafia - which is my favourite.
Cant wait for this game , i have been following it for like a year and a half already. Im not sure if they will be able to pull it off though. Hope they do, just the idea of a GTA type mmo seems brilliant, no more blowing up npcs with rocket launchers or running them over, haha real players that would be great. : D.
I saw some videos of this game, its like GTA only its multiplayer?
Ya it really appears to me to be a GTA online PVP game.GTA has always catered to an immature ,VERY young crowd ,something that turns me off.I couldn't care less if there is DRUG Themes or NPC's that swear or even some form of nudity,it all caters to immature minds.Thrown into the game here and there just to create realism to a certain area of the game is fine,i just don't like any game that tries lame ideas to attract mindless players.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Sorry to disappoint, but this game is not going to be a true MMORPG.
There will not be killing monsters, questing or really levelling up.
Unless the information I read awhile ago has changed radically, this game is going to be:
- Spend money on skills and weapons for PvP
- PvP in instances of usual numbers like 16, 32 and 50 players at one time.
- Have an in-game lobby system (which might be one virtual city) where you can join into the battlefields around the city.

One thing that might shock MMO gamers however is there is a server cap of 100 users per server, this is alot less then the other massively multiplayer online games out now. Half can be the Coppers and half are the robbers. The better you get the less assistance you will need while fighting the opposition. Character models in the game will be fully customizable, you will even be able to design your own clothing. Groups will divide into squads and gangs. Each group can hold roughly 40 people. The goal of the PvP action is to take over as much city space as possible. As gangs take over areas they will be awarded with being heists and jobs to do. As cops take city areas they are given better crime fighting gear.
Gangs will head into an area and begin committing crimes. This will trigger and A.P.B. (All Points Bulletin) to a squad. This can develop into chases, arrests, firefights, and escapes. The game is NOT an RPG and players will NOT level up. However RTW will have a system in place to reward the more skilled players such as unlockables. The more crimes you stop, the better your ranking is, means cool unlockables which could be better guns or faster cars.

It sounds like a lot of fun... I'm really not sure why they decided to add the MMO tag. If they ask for money, it better be one hell of a game.. It's gonna be nothing more than what GTAIV really offers already by the sound of it, apart from more people at once I guess.
There's different game modes but ultimately it's just PvP battles with fixed numbers of people.

Which site is that quote from? can you post a link please?
EDIT: Nvm, I found it. That news article is almost 3 years old. From what I've seen, most of what you say is true, but there are probably some elements that have changed since then.
Best to wait until we have a more formal feature update.
BTW, if any of you havn't already done so, I'd suggest signing up for the newsletter on the official site (www.apb.com), and there is also a ton of information on apb-evolved.com.
A lot will have changed. The core design of it being an action RPG probably hasn't.
I wouldn't expect a fully fledged world with quests, loot, instances, crafting and what not though like your standard MMO.
Anyway, I am really looking forward to it. It's the type of game you can really just pick up and have some fun when you want and not worry about long drawn out sessions etc.

Hehe
Pretty much, yeah.
Look on the bright side though - no goblins!
