Hey looking at buying on for my wife for X mas. She s a gamer thank god, but i m not sure which to get out of the big 3. She s into action, rpg, horror type games. Which console would you suggest and online helps as well.
Wii: Good if you have nongaming friends or youngish kids.
PS3: well, it has a blueray player. For the most part that's about all I use it for, which is sad lol. I imagine in a few years there should be good stuff on it but who knows for sure?
360: All around I would say this is the best. Large amount of games available for it and despite what the Sony fanbots would have you believe the graphics on both systems are on par with one another. This may change in the future, but as I said abouve who knows for sure? Also its down to somewhere around 200.00 bucks with a couple games lol.
All 3 are good and have thier own unique qualities. I would probably go with the Xbox 360, the game library is very big and if you're into the online gaming, there are lots of people on Xbox Live. If she's into RPG's, Fable 2 and Mass Effect are both excellent games with lots of replay value.

I have to third the 360. I would never be able to play games like Oblivion or Fallout 3 on a computer. There's just something about having a controller and TV that makes those types of games for me.

I hate to be a downer, but I used to have a 360 (well I still have it in my closet, but it's broke). My friends call it the Microsoft Vacuum Cleaner when they came over. I have all 3, and I spend alot more time with my friends on the Wii. The 360 (when it was working) and PS3 are more for your solo/online play, while Wii tends to be better if you have a group of friends or family to play. Heck I can even get my dad to play the Wii, he's never played a video game in his life until I got the Wii. The 360 and PS3 have the big franchise titles, fallout, halo, etc, but Wii has the more fun games, Wii Sports (fear my 1800+ bowling rating!), Zelda Twilight Princess (great solo game), Mario Kart Wii and Super smash bros (both are insanely fun with a group of friends playing). Out of the 3 consoles, I would have to pick the Wii. Another bonus for the Wii, alot of previous nintendo consoles work with it, gamecube and nintendo DS both work with the Wii to enhance the gameplay. If it wasn't for Halo, I probably wouldn't have bothered getting a 360, and now that it's broken (mine isn't the only one, go on youtube, it's all over the place) I won't bother getting another one. The PS3 is kind of high dollar, and I use it more to watch Bluray than to actually play games lol. Become a Wiitard like me, and get a Wii!

360 ftw man, deff not the best hardware (graphics) but i think the most amount of good games, plus FF13 will be coming out on the 360 so thats awsome
Xbox 360 also. It will have Resident evil 5, aside from the PS3.
I vote Super Famicom
Although I have a PS3 and Wii, I think the best console would still be the PS2. Durable, no need to update firmware and a lot of good games!
wii is wii... love it or hate it... its not a substitute for a real console if you ask me.
PS3- much more reliable, but not as good selection of games
XBOX 360- Best console to buy, but they break down a lot... consider extended warranty (which I normally never consider).
