Viral marketing?
IMO this viral marketing that all developers now rely on to falsely hype and market their games is beginning to backfire.
I think it may be time for developers to fully pull the plug on paid on hypers and maybe go back to honest and open marketing for a niche market.
I feel the damage these developers are doing to their name and reputation is not justified by the short term gains of flat out lying about the game they are selling.
There is a saying you catch more flies with sugar than you do with salt. Maybe try a little modest honesty maybe more of us will give you a chance.
I use to buy EVERY new mmo released when the developers were honest and open, since vanguad and " viral marketing " I havent bought a single new game.
I will never buy anything a developer hires people to lie about... sorry.

I did and one of the first ones I read, the one with the leaker commenting on walking sounds, reinforces my belief that this game, although having lots of potential, will ultimately fail.
That's just my opinion though.
Edit: Since some people are confused, the reason I brought up the sound was because the leaker commented on them, amongst other, more important things. This was used to draw the attention of those people who have read the leaks to a particular post.
To call someone liar you must have facts on your hand that proof the opposite of the claims of the so called liar ..
Where are you facts ?
Do you have any info at all ?
Can it be you are in a bad mood of "today i feel like bash DarkFall for fun" ?
Did you collected any info you doubt at all ?

Well environmental sound had a good rating , i imagine the sound pulls you into the world ..

The only reason I believe Darkfall isn't doing the "Viral Marketing" Thing, as you say, is simply due to the fact that they don't possess the cash to pay for it. They probably spent what money they had, developing the game over the last 7 years.
Not a bad thing.. But even without advertising the way other companies do, it still seems to get the hype.

he had to wait for partners being not ready ..you can do code and code and code ..if the server guy doesn't have put enough servers on one location or has the wrong ones you screwed for example ..

Actually at one point Tasos asked his loyals disciples to go out and spread the word. And the infection continues.
I will defend and spread the word of any developer do such a game to get rid of $OE and that scum of the MMO world ...

They've done a good job of spreading the word then, but is that going to be enough?
I guess we'll see if the game launches on the date it's suppose to.
And when it comes to "Viral Marketing", Shouldn't the blame fall on the company that these developers work for? I think a lot of these developers truely MEAN to implement everything they plan to do at the beginning, but are FORCED to push an unfinished product out the door, thinking "Well.. We can just fix it after we launch."

The only reason I mentioned walking sounds was because the particular leaker in question was the only one that commented on them. Basically the whole "walking sound" thing was used to identify which beta leak I am talking about.The really interesting parts are the other things written by that leaker.
Obviously those who have not read that particular post will have no idea what I'm talking about but since I probably cannot link to the website where I got that information, I leave it up to you guys to find it.
It's a very interesting read.
Edit: BTW, testers are rating character animations as 3/10. Compared to that, Warhammer Online character animations are like those in a real Pixar movie. WAR has pretty sucky animations, with the exception of the orcs, those are kinda cool.
I don't understand what you mean by "viral marketing" the hype on darkfall has been going around on word of mouth and there is nothing wrong with that, nobody is forcing you to buy a product that has not comed out yet, and for that guy that keeps making the same post about tasos telling his "followers" to spread the word,

just because of some sounds? sounds are an easy patch unlike bugs...

I'm a little confused. Do you have a link to the thread/website in which it was displayed that Darkfall is lying. Darkfall is a little sketchy, but I've been following it rather closely and havn't found anything of this nature. Also if you just speculate it that is fine too, but please clarify. Its particularly confusing when people say thankyou for your facts while others say stop lying. I know that these forums are heavily polarized but I don't think the truth even matters in this dog fight sometimes >_<.

Just building city with my clan and sieges should work ...the only bit extra i demand to work on launch ...everything else i will explore and adapt and take how it is..
If thats really suck (clan city/ city sieging)then i think i will leave quietly ..i will not feel betrayed like in case of $OE ..just would assume that my expectations were to high for such a small company to handle ..
Next sandbox games waiting for release and there is PRE CU waiting for revived also ..just in case

This is a really valid post in these forums considering:
1) There is no money being requested for anything by Aventurine.
2) They have not marketed their product at all.
3) All info has been spread by word of mouth, and the huge majority of it is bad especially on this website.
They are like a super hype machine stealing up all our money...

Everyone will play the game till you still sit here whining how Tasos lied to you that to cross Agon it dosent takes 8 hours but only 7h 55min...
Here are just a few of the times Tasos has lied about Darkfall.
Other than that. There are features listed on the darkfallonline.com website that have been removed from the game. 9 days from release I would say that's false advertising.
