My fellow WoW veterans,

As the highly anticipated release of Aion is drawing closer to a western release, myself and others are making preparations. Nearly all of my WoW guild, RL friends and others are getting our computers updated, will cancel our subscriptions, deciding which class to start off with in this new world.

You may or may not know some of the biggest WoW guilds are moving over to Aion once it is released, including the founding members of the guild Nihilum, and I would like you all to join us.

Everything will be new, fresh, unpredictable, fun. Isn't it about time you break away from the WoW that you have come to like and hate so much and step into a new and fresh world and gameplay that offers you a chance to get back that feeling of real fun that you once had when playing vanilla WoW?

If you haven't already looked into Aion, I highly encourage you to. You never know. You may try Aion only to find that it is that game you have been waiting to play for years. You never know....

I'm as interestested to see what happens to Western Aion as the next person but I don't see the need to post recruitment threads in other MMO's forums really, unless I'd somehow be worried not enough people would play it.

I wasn't that interested until I saw the pvpvr stuff their doing, then the character customisation is pretty cool. I speculate over Class Balance they have already said it is a low priority right now, and low priorities on class balance are the LAST thing I want to hear after the wow hell I went through, otherwise it looks really good, but I get the feeling it will be catered to a more Asian game style, but you never know maybe I'll eat my words. If they can make pvp balance a serious issue then maybe.

I'd at least wait for the NA, they seem to have quite a bot problem right now. In 4 months you'll have a better view on how they dealt with it if at all.

Not to mention for Korean you'll need a valid KssN to even be able to play and the fines for carrying illegal ones are like massive

Balance is completely broken. Check out the videos and numerous blogs and posts.

Additionally botting and hacking are the only way to accomplish the ultimate hero class pvp at this time.

They have a person who got the hero class. They outstrip the average player to the point of making the game POINTLESS for anyone not of that class.

An example would be 20 lvl 5 characters in wow attacking a level 80 warlock. Can we say dead in 10 seconds at best, this if they run screaming to start.

This hero class is limited in the EXTREME. So once those slots are filled, you will NEVER be able to attain that rank REGARDLESS of what you do. Does that sound fun to you?

HUGE changes will need to be made to make this game a success in NA. If they make those changes, hell yeah I'll be there!!!! If they don't, I wont waste my money or my time on it.

hmmm some sketchy assertiosn here.

First of all, think of the Hero class a little like the L2 hero. Secondly, think of it as an intelligent Raid boss. Thirdly, it is something that people compete for so once someone has it there will be another chance to get it.

I suggest if people have questions they go to Aionsource.com

And OP, you have a bit of time to wait until this game comes out for NA/EU

Actually you're wrong.

Hero classes are limited per server. Once attained you cannot lose it. You also do not have to maintain it.

Once the limited positions are filled, no other characters may achieve this level. This is from the descriptions of the beta testers and live players in the Korean Live game.

These are not the only restricted positions. The last 8 or so levels of PVP are restricted and limited like this. It's not an assumption it's a fact.

Check the Aion videos on Mogulus and the blogs from Korean live players.

Yes I understand that they are limited per server. But It is my understanding that players compete for them for a time. I don't really believe that once a person attains Hero he/she has it for all eternity. If someone can point me to a post (presumably on Aionsource) that says otherwise then fine but I have been looking and haven't found one yet.

NCsoft has never made a good game imo. Lineage 2 is a pile of grinding nonstop crap.

you are correct, everyone will compete until somebody has it.

The competition is simply who gets the points first. Once you attain lvl 25 you can move to the abyss and start accumulating PVP points. Once you have attained a certain amount of pvp points you attain a rank. The upper ranks are all limited. First one there = winner. So as an example rank blah has 5 people per server, rank blah2 has 4 people per server, rank blah 3 has 3 etc ad infinitum until you reach the hero class which has the lowest number of people per server.

It is not 1 per server, it is based on class.

So figure there will be one hero class per each of the classes and possibly more. This information wasn't listed as of yet only 1 person has made hero class that I am aware of.

There are movies of how silly he is compared to others.

Now you know that is just Troll. Guild Wars is Very Successful game, City of Heroes Dungeon Runners and Lineage one and two were also top games.

Sovrath don't get me wrong, this game looks amazing. I just want them to modify it for NA because it doesn't sound fun to me being limited so much.

As example lets say you and I both spend enormous amounts of time grinding to the highest levels of PVP ranking only to find we cannot get the good ranks because MOB hackers and Bot'ers have beaten us to it by a matter of days....

This is the kind of thing happening in Korea right now. You can find it on their rants. That's why they are upset about the bots, they are using them to attack and gain pts in pvp.

Nod many Asian games have this problem. I suffered on MU online for a bit, sort of fun 2D hack them up and boring monster kill game. They just bot AFK whole game long to 400 in a few week. Takes most players over a year. They never fix.

Listen, I'm not getting you wrong nor am I saying you have to like it. Heck, if you hate it then more power to you. However, it plays a bit like the Lineage 2 Hero where you only have one hero per class until the next rounds of the olympiad. I actually like this idea with the exception of the whole "feeding points" thing that L2 had (anyone who played L2 would know what this meant).

Now, I can't disagree with you about the hackers and botters thing but a game should only take this into account "so much". Otherwise there are easy ways to mitigate such things such as no trading between players ever (to get rid of the whole buying currency) or cutting out every possible way to further a character. It would be a different game but not one based on achievement.

It's up to NC to create systems that are difficult to hack. but you are never going to get a completely hack proof game as it seems people are kind of scummy that way.

As I said, it plays like the L2 hero. I've always liked that additon to the game but it is for players with a strong alliance and strong friends (which some can argue is a shame as it should be based upon you and your gear alone).

edit: I'm not sure what to say about the whole botting thing. I don't like it and I don't like hacks. But should a game company completely remove features because it's difficult to police them or should they just work on making it difficult to hack?

At this point I wonder if they wold make any drastic changes?

If they do it in rounds where everyone can have the chance to accomplish it for a short period of time, that would be great. You get the feeling of accomplishment and everyone still has a chance to attain it, given time.

We'll just have to see what they do.

Exactly. But what I'm saying (and would be happy to be proven wrong if I am... no worries there!) is that I believe those ranks will reset so that people will then compete again for the highest ranks.

From what I've seen, there are several ways to lower the graphics. And believe me, they don't really make the game pretty. But they are low and presumably you should be able to run it at least.
