Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

41000 items and more to come.

Guys, I am fed up hearing this itemization Bullshit anymore. The game is fcking packed with hot armor, but if you gonna run back and forth between Conall Valey and Wild lands of Zelata, sorry you are not gonna see to much of it. Here's how it goes.

1. aoc.yg.com/. Check it out more than 41000 items. Almost every item in there is possible to find in the game

2. It you want to get a unique design, if it is important to you, here is what you have to do.

    * Do a zone on Epic. All bosses will drop the most weird blue stuff that is super cool. I have tons of    pices from Epic Zones and people ask me all the time "where did you get that, where did you get this?".

    * Don't be lazy. Open up all those chests you'll find around in Hyboria. Most of the time it's not the coolest stuff inside, but every now and then you can find very nice blue drops. Aaaand, these drops are not bind on pickup, which means you have a hot pice of equipment for the trader if you don't like it yourself.

    * Craft it. There is tons of cools armors you can craft in the game (Basic, Guild and Culture armors)

    * Hey maybe you are too lazy to do the hard crafting grind, maybe you rather enjoy raiding. Well raiding in itself is going to give you nice drops, but it might alo give you nice receipes. Give them to a crafter you know and get him to make you the stuff.

    * Some quests also give you good gear that might last for 10 levels at least. Be aware of that the last 50 added quests expands the itemization even further. Ymirs pass in example have tons of yummy. Also E. Mountains have lots of good stuff on the later quests.

*Revamped dungeons, has a lot of new stuff inside. I did Main system again this weekend and damn that place has like an entire new section to it. Tons of bosses on the end all of them dropping really nice blue stuff. Hard as hell, but if you have a good group you can do it. This stuff is seriously just waiting on getting picked up.

    *Ohhh, tons of PvP armors

*Finally, all of the 3 new zones or dungeons coming with patch 1.04 are going to introduce another shit load of equipment.

Let me know if someone have a specific type of armor or item they are looking for. I can probably help.

Part of it is character development in this area too. Players are not getting a real sense because some drop rates are messed up. Getting level 50 gear when your level 20 is not a good impression when you find out the lvl 50 gear isn't worth anything. They need to fix this more than what is there right now.

You know when your 40 and the crafting stuff drops in the level 40 zones (eg Tarantia Noble District) amongst other places this is great as it is specific to the area and level range your at.

When your level say 35 and do Santumn of Burning Souls you could - depending on what class you are be wearing that same gear till level 50 even with running though lots of other area's on your way up in Epic.

Not saying they should make it easier, just it needs more attention to make a better impression. Especially as leveling is fast, that shouldn't be a reason not to get things done properly or left on the back burner.

Crafting drops are good, gear and the itemization that entails should be broader.

Tool tips for descriptions should be better on all items too.

We need to know exactly what stuff does presented in an easy to access more informative fashion.

We don't need to know where to get it (though it helps ;) Some parts need to be re-evaulated again.

They should get 4 Q&A guys to make 3 characters each and level them up and see where they can do better as it effects some types more than others.

It is not that it is bad right now, just that it is a good area to improve on and make better in the same standard and fashion of mmorpg's that player come from and experience a difference here.

A lot of what you write makes sense, but to be honest I have noticed the crafting resources drop thing. Nevertheless I was not talking about that, I was adressing the eternal "I don't want to look like everybody else" nonsense. The game is so packed of unique looks right now, that it is actually hard to not look special...

Do you have screenshots or videos to back this up?  I'm truly interested to know.  The newest vids I saw (about 2 weeks ago) still had groups looking fairly the same...  Especially the big raid vids.

For look wise then yes there is a vast amount of different types of sets. Obviously the better ones will be preferred. But you know that is something else that needs to be looked at is the raid loot drop. Some classes have statisically twice as good a chance to get a piece of good drop than others, due to the drop types offered by certain Raid Bosses.

Still though there is some excellent difference between the Tier sets, Unique looks and the looks in armor as you progress to 80 in my opinion.

Especially if your into PvP and are after PvP gear. Another whole kettle of fish there :)

There are lots of new things coming in the upcoming updates. Some items, some dungeons, some crafting, and some revamps. Crafting is getting some much needed love from our new designer. He has been hard at work trying to revamp the system to make it more viable based on player feedback. Item wise, there are things happening but more on that can be shed by our game director later on. We've already announced a few end-game content with dungeons and the attached items.

I think the biggest thing with items now is the concerns with item drops. The developers are currently looking at the system to see if there is any issues with how loot dropping is calculated.

if itemization is not a issue then why do so many complain about it and not just here but also on the official forums? Why did the majority of players in the official survey indicate they were unhappy in the community survey polls?

    docs.google.com/View

    if you look here

    lotro.mmodb.com/items/

there are only 15, 609 items listed in it's LoTRO item database but you never hear anyone complaining about itemization in LoTRO. It is not the quantity but the quality that makes the difference and how the drops are timed.

you should not have to play  to lvl 60 before you go "oooohhh look what I got"  you should not have to raid or craft or PvP either. Good itemization is arranged where you get adequate gear solo and doing solo quests, then better gear on small group quests, then even better gear if you are a crafter then even better gear if you raid but the gear is more attuned to raiding than solo play and the gear you get from PvP is more helpful for PvP than it is PvE. I normally run 50 or 60% crafted gear on my toons in LoTRO with the rest being solo or small group quest drops. Raid gear is uber but the stats are really only good for raiding and the the PvP gear rewardsis pretty decent but not really a hell of a lot better than crafted.

In other words the gear should compliment the play style and all play styles should be represented for maximum customer satisfaction. You should also start to get some nice rewards early in the game and not have a carrot dangling that if you can just grind to 40 or 50 or 60 or 70 the fun might begin.

Regarding crafting I hope they are taking a leaf out of swg's book. Every MMO has taken a step back in crafting since the release of SWG. Although Vanguard made a nice viable crafting system.

Im not having a go at AoC....Its every developer that have become lazy in this department, in what is a large and essential part of an MMO.

Exactly, very well said. This is exactly the whole point and the core of the issue.

I don't say you should already be able to look cool at level 1. Hell no.

But you shouldn't have to wait till level 50 or 60 either.

After level 15 or so you should already be able to find the first cooler looking items.

And then build it up from there.

This way players can start looking more unique fairly quickly and so adds to the fun factor of the game.

    Cheers

I was coming to the boards to ask something this.

I stopped playing pretty early at around 50 or so and cancelled. With the server merges I was planning to come back and see what’s what. But I was coming here to see if there have been any loot changes.

I'm not looking for the best but I am looking to look different from my level 10 character to my level 50. The fact that I did look almost the same was one of my biggest gripes. So by reading this thread it seems like this aspect of the game has not changed.

Is that pretty much what is being said here or are you guys just talking about uber loot? I just want to look different and have something decent to wear. I don't need it to be the end all be all piece of equipment. I’m also not a very fast leveler so racing to the “end game” to start looking different really isn’t in the cards for me.

Also from what I read here it sounds like you have to perform some tedious activity to get any of the different looking loot/armor. Is that correct or are you guys just talking about doing that in order to get uber loot/armor?

My guy just didn’t seem to make any progress on the armor “look” front. I solo quested a lot and felt like my equipment was up to the task but it always looked the same from one piece to the next.

    Thanks.

Loot drops are a huge factor. by now there should have been alot of recipees find across the servers but that just isnt the case. raid loot drops are good for soem classes and horrible for others. Im glad to here teh devs are looking into this because its really a thorn in the players sides.

In all fairness ... AoC doesn't have the Outfitting system* that LotRO does. If Funcom added something like that then I'd be willing to bet a good amount of people would stop complaining.

    * For those not familiar with it - The Outfitting system allows players to display cosmetic outfits that are for appearance only, and no stats or effects from items apply when equipped in a cosmetic outfit slot.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's being lazy. I mean if you look at what it takes to make a MMO from the ground up it's almost mind boggling. It's more of an issue with resources and time than anything else. Other times it's just needing more tweaking based on player experience over time.

No idea why you quoted me to spit out a press release. I'm still hearing "things are coming" or "later on" and my favorite: "announced." None of this equates to what is here and now. 41,000 items is a great bullet point but where's the evidence of these items having any "real game" use? People usually wear things that give them the best stats and unfortunately that seems to come down to 1 or 2 sets at a certain level. Raid gear seems to have the same issue. This game, almost more than any other high budget MMO, seems to lack the item variety expected in the genre.

5 years is a decent amount of time in the mmo world. Why is crafting so broken, and why were so many things missing at launch? You say time, we're working on almost a year after launch and look at the state of the game still, let alone crafting.

There is a diffrance between 41000 "items" and 41000 Meshes/models.

Question of the ages really. I think if we had spent 5 years on just the crafting system then we would have the best crafting system in any MMO to date but you would not be able to see or play it. We wouldn't have any time to implement server structures, multiplayer mechanics, character development, character progression systems, graphics, and so on.

I think this is why I highlight the amount of passion, hardwork and so on it takes to build something as massive as this type of game in the genre from the ground up. You simply don't have all the time in the world nor unlimited resources to do it with. It's not really something to use as any type of excuse but it should be mentioned because it is very important to mention.

Of course you can argue that all day long for the end of time but it doesn't fix the problem. I think we rather just fix the problem and learn from it in the future of change for the game. I hate stepping backwards; rather be stepping forward.

Good attempt at trying to be funny, we all know you cant spend 5 years on crafting alone. Apparently only the graphics team was showing up those 5 years. Did you not have a team dedicated to the crafting aspect of the game?

Or was it just put someone on something whenever you needed someone there?

Odd, seems like many other development houses manage to put out a more complete product with their time and resources.

The 'It's such a huge task' is an bizzare response, especially from a company that made a previous MMO, had a large budget and an experienced development team.

I don't get it, are we supposed to feel sorry for FC because making a MMO isn't quick and easy?

You simply don't have all the time in the world nor unlimited resources to do it with. It's not really something to use as any type of excuse but it should be mentioned because it is very important to mention.

Of course you can argue that all day long for the end of time but it doesn't fix the problem. I think we rather just fix the problem and learn from it in the future of change for the game. I hate stepping backwards; rather be stepping forward.

Nope not at all. I'm merely pointing out that not everything goes to plan and instead of pointing fingers on our end, we rather try to move forward.

I can completely understand everything wasn't going as planned, it's painfully obvious it didn't. What i cant understand was launching AoC pretending it had, and than 'moving forward' from there.

As for pointing fingers, I don't think we need names and home telephone numbers of those responsible. Just apologies and refunds.

I'd even settle for a free copy of 'The Secret World' if it ever launches.

Some move forward, others move away from the ones moving forward...

FC is a small company when compared to EA, SoE, and Billzard and they probably have 3/5 of the total staff working on any one of their games compared to either of these compaines.

And if you want to know why they released a unfinished product you should as Edios, they had all the say when the game would be released.

Ohh, what a convenient thing to say, my heart is broken now... poor FC! Who are you trying to kid...
