Is it just me, or are expectations low these days? Where are the days gone when people expected WOW killers and uber hyped games? I kinda miss those days when we could believe like children. Nothing but cold sceptics these days, myself included.

Kinda the first  "Winner" I agree on as being the most Anticipated game, I mean people need to blind to not see Darkfall pop up on every type of MMO forums with people hoping it will deliver what they promise, that is what is called people being anticipated by a product.

Now when I look at some of the reply's here, people act as if the game is live and people are already playing it, thats not the case, but sorry I don't see any more hype coming from other games then at this moment we see with Darkfall. And if people are honest at this point it should not matter if the game is broken, unplayable or what ever cause that is not what this topic is about, it pure about the Most Anticipated Game, and regardless it will not be a game for me it is clear to see how Hugh the anticipation is of this game by many other people.

Oh and Darkfall has the feature's I love in a MMORPG but the settings/timeperiod/visuals of the game do not attract me, and I can't play a MMORPG for it's feature's only. But I do hope the game will deliver that MMO many have been waiting for.

    1. Love it or hate it, it *has* been the holy grail of vaporware for ever. Everyone wants to see it release and deliver or not, do well or die..just end the decade of suspense.

    2. The competition sucked; Not sure if I should blame the global economy, recent MMO failures or whatever but the current crop of "up and comming" games is totally worthless as far as I can see. Badly disguised remakes, knock offs and imported and retooled asian junk...yawn. I think I can go all of 2009 without reading a single release note.

Im sorry but your wrong on one thing...Duke Nukem Forever is the holy grail of Vaporware...hell it even won some awards on that too. DF is just a POS game that has taken a long time to develop...nothing special at all

o really haveyou played it no lol just sad really really sad

Well any pre-release awards mean nothing. You know it as good as myself. Yes they (awards) make some buzz around titles and serve as a good marketing tool. But we all know the best marketing is a game quality. At least in MMORPG genre.

One of many awards i think most of us hope.

Just yesterday some DF fan was going around all the forums to get people to blindly vote for DF on another mmo site polls.

    I wonder how they win?!?!?

Anticipation or being enthusiastic, is an emotion involving pleasure (and sometimes anxiety) in considering some expected or longed-for good event, or irritation at having to wait. Robert Plutchik listed anticipation as one of the eight basic emotions in his psychoevolutionary theory. See also hope. A name for pleasured anticipation is excitement.

Anticipation can be shown in many ways; for example, some people seem to smile uncontrollably during this period, while others seem ill or sick. It is not uncommon for the brain to be so focused on an event, that the body is affected in such a way. Stage fright is a type of anticipation, stemming from the actor or actress hoping that they perform well.

Get the feeling the majority in here don't seem to understand what anticipation means, seeing so many comment that don't make much sense in regards of the topic/award. Figured this might help

So, let me get this Straight, are you saying that all the presentations/videos in Greece, and review from Italy and the ones from the Noob are what....our immagination?

Where did ya get Logic like that, seems like good stuff, where can I get some?

didn't they have videos 3 or 4 years ago?   not sure what you're getting at here.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

It definitely wasn't my pick for Most Anticipated Game of 2008.

It shouldn't have bene in the nominations anyway considering it's only being released now...so they say.

Personally i think the KOTOR MMO deserved to win this. Shame that it wasant on the list and that the Forumfallers are practiced with spamming the 'create free account' button.

Dark n Light can.. Sorry I mean Darkfall can go one of two ways if it is ever released........ everyone hates it because it is shit or the SWG way where every normal person hates it because the game is broken with no content but it seems to have a small hardcore community that love it.

News about the microtransactions likely killed most anticipation people had for the KOTOR MMO. Too many (justifiably) associate that type of pay model with crappy f2p asian grinders. The art direction probably warrents some criticism as well.

Last i heard nothing was confirmed. And the game model has yet to be decided so its a bit premiture to be calling foul to those devs when we havent even seen any proof of what game model it will be.

This is ammusing actually considering that darkfall is also a game that has yet to prove its game model yet there are loads of people naysaying it before its even out.

Well, I have no intentions at all at playing Darkfall and I voted it as the most anticipated game because I feel it "is" the most anticipated game.

It's perfectly feasible for players to look at these polls and vote with their head and not with their heart.

I did the same, BUT.....I do NOT think it is possible for DF fans to vote with their head and not their heart.  They would vote for DF for People Magazine's "Sexiest Man of the Year," if given half a chance, which is probably a good thing, considering that the fan base is the ONLY advertisement this game gets in North America.

I'm still of the "I'll believe it when I see it" crowd.  I'm not a hater or a troll, but I'm also not someone who jumps on bandwagons anymore.  I have...a LOT....in the past.  Yet after countless disappointments, I've learned it's just best for me, personally, to wait it out and see what happens.

It would be a wonderful and amazing thing if DF actually DOES release, DOES do what they have said they will do, and has even moderate success.  The genre needs more diversity, to be sure.  And MUCH congratulations to Darkfall for this win.   I can't really see how anyone could argue that it is the most anticipated, even if PART of that anticipation comes from the controversy....it's still being looked forward to by most all gamers that have ever HEARD of it.  Some are anticipating it's FAILURE....others, it's success.  Either way....it's VERY anticipated.

Yea i too voted for darkfall partly because among the choices given i felt it was the most anticipated by this sites members. Not that im a fanboi or anything, its jsut that i no longer go into hype anymore and i prefer to be critical of upcomming hyped games till a few months after release.

hope this title could encourage them to work harder and design more and better mmorpg for the market

  • itcheesitchees Member Posts: 6

Im bookmarking this thread so i can come back and laugh at the trolls if the game delivers 1/4th of what was promised, which probably will make it better than most MMOs out there. If it fails, nothing to rejoice as its probably going to be yet another year of stale MMOs.

You do know that the Noob is completely hosted and funded by the Darkfall developers? So an objective review of them is something you can't really expect. You're not gonna bite the hand that feeds ya

didn't they have videos 3 or 4 years ago?   not sure what you're getting at here.

Of course they had videos, Youtube abounds of them in many flavors editions etc.

But I am referring to the Live presentation Videos, and the Greek TV News Videos, you don't go that public if your product is not ready.
