I Am Offically Joining "The Club"
So I hear so much about this game and decided to check into it and I am actually more excited for it then I am for Guild Wars 2. I am actually afraid I am going to get overhyped and it will end up as a disappointment.
Really I am posting to just publicly announce, I'm joining the "Darkfall Looks Amazing Club" and lets talk about it. 
Its sounds like Oblivion but online am I wrong? Is beta already up? Is anyone forming clans right now to get ahead of the game and into leader boards a.s.a.p?

I expect Zorvan and Arcken to be here any second now to spend 5 pages worthlessly arguing that DF will fail.
They are usually faster then this.. must be an off day.

Why would zorvan want darkfall to fail? I hsave never seen a post declaring he wants any game to fail.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but for a game that has almost no imformation about it there seem to be a lot of people who already knows it sucks, I'm really curious about it.
Please, if you are talking from personal experience give me a hint, i mean, I don't think anyone will hate you if you break NDA 8 days before release,right? besides, if you don't like it, why do you even care if they kick you from beta?

I think it has to do more with the fact that a indie company has basicly promised the moon, when AAA companies couldn't hold up on half of what is promised.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

Yes many who talk good about wow also don't talk so nice about Darkfall. Maybe just a little jealous of Darkfall is all. They will get used to being an older game Like UO so many still play there to they know it is old and that it is ok to still play no matter what.

That is just elementary logic. A game that close to release usually are brimmed with beta test, marketing interview and stuff like that. The lack of such activity is an indication (pls read carefully .. INDICATION, not direct evidence) that the production is in trouble.
I think its cause WoW is full of carebear PvEers who don't like the direction that MMO industry is turning with so many PvP focused games like AoC and WAR and now Darkfall. I bet they're scared they may have to grow a pair and join a PvP game.

I dont know what some of these people saw that they think is so amazing...Teh gameplay vids I watched on youtube make the game look very poorly done....The graphics were bland and very dull and the player movements were extremely herky jerky......The UI looked very plain and boring and it just looked very amateurish, at least on the vids......The game looked several years old and I certainly hope they have improved it significantly.

I honesty don't care very much at all about graphics, if fact im happy they're not trying to make it only available to people with Aleinwares. And what I saw in it was the gameplay, im not sure if this is the video you say but its what really got me.

You are so free in this game; there is no restrictions on classes, no restrictions to where and when you can PvP, no grinding to level 60 or 70 or whatever. The PvP takes skill not just shiny armor. As a clan you can build, manage and defend your own town which attracts a lot of people like me who love EVE's sandboxiness but prefer fanasy games. And the enviroment still looks beautiful because it was all done manually not computer generated.
I don't know why everyone whines because a game has below perfect graphics or even medicore graphics when they first come out. Remember Guild Wars when it first came out? And besides, slightly less graphically fancy games run quicker and have more room for a larger map, more skills, more players, and more items.

Yea, Darkfall looks amazing, and it shows a lot of promise in its description. However, as you read all the posts before me you will sense a lot of skepticism.
Perhaps its healthy. however after AoC a lot of players were really let down. Even I am going in with the impression that not everything will be ready or implimented. Still , if the game has a solid foundation, Im willing to let it grow on me

First you guild wars reference surprises me to say the least ...

Theres a better video to show the graphics.. it's some athens convention or something like that.. I don't have the link but I bet you could find it on here if you looked around. It doesn't have a whole lot of fighting in it.. but it shows off the graphics on high settings. It looks more like an upgraded EQ2 than anything else.. which isn't a bad thing, as far as graphics go.
Anyone who says the updated graphics don't impress them for a MMO needs to get punched in the face.. because the only way you actually believe that is if you're a DF hater. I'm not a fanboi, I am objective. The graphics are good.
I agree with the OP. I am getting into the excited/hesitant mode as well.
Obviously, with experiencing the Dark & Light fiasco first hand I understand where this has the potential to go, as well as experiencing the Vanguard fiasco first hand on top of that. I didn't have the pleasure of the AoC or WAR launch though.
But clearly the MMO player populace is very bitter. Except for those content in their games.
I'm willing to support this game if the gameplay is there. From what I've heard it appears not everything will be ready at launch, but from recent memory (especially those games listed above as well as others) no MMO comes with all of its listed features at launch, none. Even WoW didn't.
Like has been said by most people that like the game, yes the animations need work, as do the spell effects. And maybe a few other things. But the gameplay is the most important. Other, older, games have made changes and upgrades to their game systems. But it's the core gameplay that matters most.
There is virtually no way to rework that part of one's game if it's broken. If the main concept of the game is shoddy, no band-aid is going to fix the damage that has been dealt.
This is why I'll support (Read: buy) music I like from more independent musicians/bands, or certain games as well. Because I believe in what they're trying to do and if voting with my dollar, so to speak, can get the word across to some point that these types of games/music/what have you are wanted then they'll still be created.
It's the days when only mainstream stuff is king, which it pretty much already is, when I'll throw my hands up in disgust and go live in a cave in a mountain somewhere.

This, and this is what DF fans fail to understand when they see a skeptic's post.
Add to that the fact that its been in development since forever and that the company is not well known and anyone with half a brain can be extremely suspicious of this game.
Remember that we're not judging the actual content and ideas(not that I care for FFA gankfests anyway), but the company.
The rules of Debate are really simple; once you have to stoop to insults instead of facts, logic, or reason to try and win your argument, you've lost.
You sound like you'll fit in perfectly...
Remember also, that gameplay video isn't in max settings, it has been confirmed by Brannoc (EDIT: Official DF Forum Mod) many times. For a better look at graphics, look at the location test trailer or screenshots.
As for me, I'm not posting too often, but always lurking various forums.
If you've seen and / or discussed all the official information, I find the Unofficial Darkfall Europe Forums to be the best place to go to discuss / read about other sources of information.
They also conducted this survey. Very interesting stuff.

WoW will still be going strong for years to come. No one is afraid they won't be able to play it.
Yes but from what I hear Blizzard doesn't plan on making any more expansions. The game wont live forever and most games released recently are PvP focused.
The day WoW is jelous of Darkfall hell will freeze over. Darkfall won't have a thousandth the impact on the MMO industry WoW has.

Playing a PvP game doesn't mean you have a pair. I know a dozen women who play Shadowbane and don't have a pair of testicles. They'll kick your ass though.
Dude its called a metaphor, you can't say you haven't heard that one before. I'm saying they're hesitant to loose they're armor or pride to another player to prove they have a bite to match their bark.
There's nothing "manly" about PvP it's just a playstyle preference, More people PvP in WoW than all other Western PvP games combined and WoW PvP sucks.
WoW has so many players because overall it is the best game on the market now. It has mediocore crafts, lots of quests, a big pretty much sandbox map, tons of raids for the PvEers, some sort of PvP, and the reason I used to play it-all of your friends.
More people PvP in WoW then all other games combined? Not true, Guild Wars is mostly a PvP game and its been competeing with WoW's player count for years. And add in WAR, EvE, and a few others and you easily surpass WoWs player count.

I agree. DF probably has one of the most skeptical fanbases I have seen, lol despite the myth the trolls have created and gullible people bought into. On the main forums, pretty much everyone that has been there awhile doubts any date given by Tasos.
