Are there any beta testers here that are playing on the lowest or very low system specs? Like 1 ghz, 512 ram, etc? I have a machine that meets the minimum requirements and wondered if someone has experience playing with it.
with 512 megs the loading times are actually pretty decent. Believe it or not I get longer loading times in Guild Wars than I do in EQ2.
However, if you plan on playing for marathon lengths of time (6 hours or so) you're gonna have to reboot your computer as after about 4 hours, you tend to see the loading time getting longer.

How was performance of the game on your system? Was it acceptable? Also what screen resolution were you playing it?
1280 x 960. The performance is actually better than I had originally expected. I guess my video card still had some oompf afterall. If you set it on "Balance" graphic settings you get some decent graphics with smooth gameplay.
I have no problems with my current set-up. However, I will be buying another 512 stick of RAM. Not because I HAVE to, but because I want to. More RAM = faster load up times, better graphic output, etc.
(ps. sorry you had to delete my prev post, it's one of those days...)
lol, I dont think I deleted one of your posts. Must have been someone else

For those who are curious, I found a thread in the eq2 forum that has screenshots of the game on a low spec system.
They guy's system is actually below the min requirements and the graphics are still respectable in my opinion. He has a 900mhz system, windows2000, 384 ram and 128mb graphics card. The only problem for him was high load times due to low RAM.
I'm on an AMD 2400, 1 GB RAM and a GeForce Ti4800 128MB card and it runs really smoothly for me.. I'm only on Medium Graphics though, but the graphics are definitely more than adequate.
I suppose it's playable, my framerate is 15-25 average. My loading times are a bit slow but I kind of got used to it, at least until I've played an hour or two, then I need to reboot.
I'm not playing the lowest specs, but I know my computer is pretty old by today's standards. I run an AMD XP1700 (1.5mhz) 512 ram, GeForceFX5200 w/ 128 vram, and onboard sound card. EQ2 beta runs on it's second to lowest setting on my computer by default, but it runs the smoothest out of any new game I have played to date including Eve Online, Battlefield Vietnam, Star Wars Battlefront, Matrix Online, and even better then Morrowind (yes, the Elder Scrolls III released years ago). It's a sight to behold on my computer with the most stunning graphics I have ever seen in a PC RPG (notice I don't just say mmorpg). If you have my specs or higher, don't bother to upgrade unless you really really want to see EQ2 in full glory. I was sure I would have to upgrade to get any level of decent performance, but thanks to the beta I see I was wrong and I'm happy as can be with the performance/detail as it is.
As a side note, I have tried it in other detail settings and on it's VERY highest detail setting, I got the same choppiness as Matrix Online at it's lowest detail setting (a.k.a. near unplayable, but viewable). Go figure... I think MxO just doesn't like my graphics card or something. It's actually funny in EQ2 though, because it warns you when switching to this super high detail setting that "this level of graphic detail is beyond the ability of any currently-released hardware. Are you sure you want to attempt this graphic setting?" or something to that effect lol. But it appears that I can run a notch or two higher in detail with still reasonable performance as long as there aren't too many players in the local area.
I have 768 of RAM, P. 4, 2.4, geforce FX 5500, and the game runs smooth as............well i was going to say something there, but i really can't think of anything really smooth at the moment.

So how does it run EQ2 En1gma?
how are zone loading times and lag?

I can somewhat breathe a sigh of relief now.
Anyone playing the beta with a P4 3.0ghz 512meg 2700, 9800 pro 128 meg card? If so how does it run?

Athlon XP 2200+, 512MB ram, geforce 3 ti 200.
