I pre-ordered like many others. The graphics are beyond any other MMO present or forseeable future. Can't wait for it and I bet most WoW Fanbois will end up playing it too when they get tired of cartoon boxing or get enough cash to pay for a new video card
Reviews are unreliable, they take a single persons preferences as a basis. For example Saga of Ryzom was not given a good review and I think the game is great, and vice versa.
well since WoW is having an open beta, ill try that and buy it if i like it alot. if neither did have one id have gone eq2 so im sure they are losing quite a few to WoW for this reason alone.

I honestly don't see myself buying EQ2 without trying it out first. I'm not going to spend $50 on a game I'm not sure my PC can handle. I don't think my PCU (Athlon XP 1700+) will be able to run this game without tons of lag. I did play WoW stress test and had very little lag and the lag I did receive was barely noticeable. My allegiance from AC2 is migrating there too. I think I will stick with WoW.
Thought about it... even had my mouse hovering over the pre-order button. But no. Why I'm going to wait a few weeks for full community feedback. No open Beta and private Beta forums concern me as well as some of the reports... I have a feeling EQ2 is heading SWG direction and i was VERY unhappy about paying to Beta that game.
I have the game preordered and really looking forward to the game even if I don't play it before hand. I didn't get to play all the other games before I bought them (single player games) nor did I play the mmorpgs I played before I bought them. EQ1 was the first game I tried and I only got that based on the opinions of close friends that I played with when I first joined. I've read up and followed EQ2 and it appears to have what I want in a game after playing so many others. If it has bugs so be it. Every mmorpg I've played has bugs of some nature. People speak ill of SWG but honestly I enjoyed my time there and really I stopped playing since I didn't have time play and let the whole Jedi thing get to me when I shouldn't have. I don't like or hate SOE as a company but I do know EQ2 is a game I'm interested in and will play and find out for myself if its good or not. I'm not going to let the praise or hate from people on forums mess with me when I play the game. Each person is different and I know my taste aren't the same as everyone elses. And what I look for in a game and expect from a game would different in ways of other people. I'd actually look forward to reviews from game sites though.
I played closed eq2 beta for 2 months..at first I really liked it, then they started "fixing" things and of course just like swg when they fix one thing they break another. The game got old fast for me also..WoW was more exciting and I will be going that route. The graphics are nice, there are tons of quests to do like WoW, but this one emphasizes more on grouping, and I am more of a solo, group when I have to kind of player.
I will not be buying either EQ2 or WoW on release. I am tired of being first to try any game, only to have bugs and delayed content ruining the game. I think I will wait and see how EQ2 and WoW turn out before I buy either of them.
I preordered it months ago and recently got into beta. I am satisfied with the game, and happy of my preorder. I feel the game will be long-term for me, usually an MMORPG (though my favorite genre) can not hold me for longer than 6-9 months. I just have commitment issues. ;-)
EQ2 is different than the typical MMORPG, but of course it's the same in most MMORPG ways. I'm not leveling very fast, which is fine with me. I've done a lot of quests, and though it is possible to fly through the text on these I like to take the time to read the quests. I've played for about 24 entire hours, and am level 12.

I've promised myself never to buy another SOE game until I get to play it first. I've played EverQuest, Planetside and tried the trial of Star Wars Galaxies. When EverQuest first came out all those years ago, I was there playing it - I was there before Kunark's release and was still there when Luclin appeared. Now I won't go near the game. The reasons I won't go near SOE games:
1) Graphics: Where did these clowns learn to program? EverQuest used to run like a dream, then they upgraded the graphics engine and suddenly I'm stuck staring at the screen for 5 seconds every time I see something new, because its having a constant load frenzy.
Then you have Planetside, which was the same thing, but even worse as its a FPS type of game, where frame rate is King. And when you're staring at the same frame for 5 seconds, you're not even in Peasant status.
Star Wars Galaxies I'm sure used the same engine as Planetside, I had exactly the same problems. Looking at something new? Hold on, loading for 5 seconds. Bah! I mean, its not like my computer is bad - 512Mb RAM, 2Ghz Processor, Geforce 4. They just can't program graphics engines.
And then they come along and say, "Oh, EverQuest 2 is going to have this awesome graphics engine..", when they can't even do a basic one with EverQuest 1, Planetside or SW:G! Not a chance I'm going to trust in SOE to deliver something that doesn't require 2Gb RAM and a Dual-Athlon 64 to run.
2) Coming Soon! - Yep. They love to release unfinished products, then spend the next 2 months patching the patch that patched the original patch because that patch needed patching. You'd think they'd have learnt from the SW:G release, but oh no, now they're releasing EverQuest 2 a little too early and expect everyone to sit there, smile and nod and say, "Its SOE.. we love them, they're so key-ute! They'll get it right soon, then things will be great!".
Well, no. When I pay for a product, I expect it to 1) Be Working and 2) Be Complete.
Anyway, I've gone on enough.. this newbie poster will disappear into silence again for a while.
I will be buying EQ as a preorder for the jboots....
but I will be playing WOW until the EQ2 PVP servers come online..... if no PVP servers, then no, i will not be playing EQ2, whether or not i try it first.... but i have faith that the PVP servers will be online in about 4 to 6 months after release

As a poor ass college student, I don't have 50 dollars to throw around and waste. Unless the name of the game starts with a B , ends in OOZE.
