"Thousands" will get to sample the game free on Jan 22? WTF is thousands?

Two questions:

1. What do they mean by "thousands" like two thousand?

Starting on January 22nd there will be a Darkfall trial with the distribution of the release candidate client allowing thousands of players to sample the game for free, help us stress test our servers and test the final features of the game.

It’s important to understand that there are well over 200 thousand applications by players wanting to get into Darkfall. This number makes it unrealistic to distribute the client and to open up our servers to everyone.

 

2. Ok, so you can't get your shit together for enough servers for more than a couple thousand players. Fine, shit happens. But what has that got to do with dropping the NDA?

Is the NDA dropped yet? Are you gonna drop it so these "thousands" can tell us about the game?

         It does sound like they are just going to allow moer players in that already applied.....Its hard to tell much of anything when Tasos speaks.......I jsut dont see how people can be so enamored with this company or this game......It just strikes me as a total bush league game and a bush league company....... I hope the game does well as the genre really needs it but I have zero faith in these guys to deliver.

    I highly doubt that the NDA will be dropped. simply because the testers will be used to "test the final features of the game". I'm basing this on how strict they are about the whole NDA bullcrap.

    It all depends on exactly how many thousands of people preorder.

    I'm sure it will be somewhere in the thousands.

    So expect at least thousands to be in open beta soon.

    Of course you could always preorder yourself to confirm exactly how many thousands there are or aren't in open beta.

    If they drop the NDA it's possible that a competing mmo will incorporate the entire Darkfall featureset into an expansion and release it... first.

     

    Now we obviously can't allow that to happen.

    So basically Darkfall is NOT launching on the 22nd.

    The Open beta will still not have started as its a limited amount of people still under the NDA that will be allowed to try it.

     All in all sounds like the Darkfall closed beta is finally starting for real.(ie not just friends and family and few people "vouched" for by the F&F).

    So my game handle may actually get an invite? I mean hell I only registered on the Razorwax site over 7 years ago, I should be one of the first in line for a shot at the "limited beta".

    Not holding my breath since you can't let people test something that does not yet exist.

    According to them they have 200k people waiting to get into the game, and they're only going to let in "thousands" (whatever that is) on Jan. 22nd.

    Okay, so let's say they let in 4,000 people.  That's only 2% of the people wanting to get into beta.

     

    I'm really excited about this game, but if it's not realeased (and I'm not in Beta) before Feb 26th, then I'll just change my hype from a 10 to a 1.

    this quote pretty much sums it up. The rule set of darkfall seems awsome. I would love to try "that" world out. I don't love the fps style gameplay so much, or the graphics......But the game seems like it would be amazing, HOWEVER, bush leauge for sure. I'm having serious doubts.
