Troll Prophets

Alright, so let us discuss why "trolls", and "haters" troll and hate this game so much.

You see fans of the game toss around troll and hater pretty much anytime someone speaks out against this game.

I do not personally care if DFO ever releases as I already forsee the game to be a huge pile of crap and always have since the days of DAoC.

However I read DFO forums, more so for entertainment purposes and social studies as opposed to caring either way which side is actually right.

So for many many months now, we have watched the up and down struggle of the DFO forums with the fans sometimes seemingly grasping the upper hand, and sometimes the trolls get a bone tossed to them and have a leg to stand on to battle the fans back.

This has been going on for years.

Which brings us to present day.

So in the last 3 months we have heard some pretty solid quotes from Tasos that says the game was ready, no way in hell they would push back a release, and that they would never set a date they couldn't meet.

We also heard that they would never do pre-orders for this game, because everyone as gamers should be allowed to try this masterpiece before they spend 1 red cent.

So yesterday we heard the three above quotes from Tasos we not true. Tasos retracted all three and said the game was pushed back, not only was it pushed back but it wasn't ready, not only was it not ready, but they want you to pre-order it now.

So the buzz on the internet went into high effect and people lost their minds.

Here is the thing though. Troll or Fan alike will have no choice but to agree to the statement I am about to type.

TASOS IS A LIAR! HE IS A LIAR RIGHT THROUGH HIS YELLOW TEETH! NOTHING THIS MAN SAID WAS TRUE AND WAS ALL A LIE!

Ok I think we can all agree to this statement, well excluding the "yellow teeth" part, the rest is fact.

So.... now what I see the "trolls" mostly doing is trying to raise the alert to the fans one last time of "hey, this guy just flat out LIED to your face"! and "You really need to get a clue before you get ripped off for 50+ bucks"!

That is all really, Trolls want Tasos to be held accountable for his lies, and rightly so.

They also want the fans to wake the hell up and quit being forcefed lies. Eating the lies with a spoon and asking for another scoop.

We as "MMO" gamers still at our very core are long time consumers. Console gamers buy a product, play a game, if it sucks, they trade it in or it sits on a shelf. No big deal.

An MMO gamer buys a game and invest money over the course of months or even years devoted to a single product.

As an MMO consumer you should be demanding the very best for your money. You should be demanding top quality product, from a company with the best interest of it's consumers in mind. You should be wanting a product you can be proud of owning and playing, from a company that holds high standards of integrity and professionalism.

What you should not be doing, if buying into "slap in your face lies", from a company that as of right now, has shown it's "potential" consumers nothing more than it has absolutely no respect for you, doesn't care about it's playerbase, shows not once ounce of intergrity and doesn't employ a single person with professionalism.

Tasos is an anti-professional, Professionals do not lie to the face of their clients.

Yet despite all this, we have topic after topic here on MMORPG, with countless people still defending this garbage. Countless people still saying it's ok to force feed me a pile of shit.

It is time you people draw a line in the sand, yes many MMO companies have pulled this in the past. Are you so game starved that you do not care what people do to you as long as you can play a game. Cmon if your going to let someone shit on you, at least have enough self respect to say when enough is enough.

When will be the last time we stop accepting lies and half finished product as the normal standard?

I say now, I say draw your line and pick a side.

You either respect yourself as a gamer, and say enough with developers and corporate lies and propaganda, or you take off running and dive across the line, right into that pond of bullshit that is on the other side.

I will be right here nice and dry on this side, with all the self respecting gamers of the world. Demanding better product, demanding truth from developers, and hanging on to my well earned dollar as opposed to setting it on fire.

Yes you should never buy into hype.  You should be smart with your money and make sure that you can risk throwing away any money spent on a preorder.  You should do your research.

That doesn't mean you can't give a game a fair chance.  I am not saying to buy it, but let it come out and have its shot.  It could suck, or it could be great.  Without hype there is nothing but the game, and the game should have a chance to speak for itself without negative or positive hype.

DF will never be given a fair chance...not with their long history of misleading tactics and lies.

Aventurine is an indie. learn what that means and stop whinging.
Projected dates are given, shit happens, they are missed, a game gets delayed.
Whats the big problem with that?
I'm very bored of the precious primadonnas that live on these boards that get sooo offended over nothing.

Aventurine is asking for NOTHING until you have seen the product. Not a dime. Not a penny.
The pre-orders start AFTER the free play.
THATS the only truth that matters.
This is open and honest and shows they have FAITH in their product.
Why are you getting so uppity about this?

Listen Profred, I do respect your decision to want to give game titles a fair shot. I get it I really do.

What I am trying to point out, is like gamerman says, this game will never have a shot now.

It is to late for that, this game is already pre destined to explode before it ever gets out the door.

    Why?

The answer is in my original post. You can't build a company and a long term project like an MMO based off lies.

We already seen this tactic from Funcom and AoC. It doesn't work. When you set something in stone, and then you retract it like Tasos has done. That is it, you lied to your players.

Your trust card just got pulled. Noone is going to believe a thing this man has to say anymore. It's done, his game is done.

He was on the right track, had he stuck to what he said, he might have done ok.

"not letting the man control him, and making a game for gamers by gamers"

That is a nobel concept. Now with the announcement of pre-orders, we know that the game has corporate stink all over it. This wasn't a Tasos decision this was a corporate money decision that he has to follow, cause if not his game is never going to see the first sell.

So now you have a corrupted impure game development team, being lead on a leash like all other development teams, trying to rush out a game that we all know now isn't ready for the sake of a dollar through the guise of pre-orders.

It's all bullshit, this game at one time DID deserve it's fair shot, but as of yesterday, that shot is gone, and this game is dead in the water.

This is false.  Not everyone will get to try for free, and certainly not before they begin asking for pre orders.  Read more carefully, please.

    YES.

Many, many players will have to decide if they want to "guarantee" their spot at Release before they get a chance to try out the game.

No this pre-order is even worse than most game's pre-orders.  In other games the only decision is if you want the "extras" that come with the pre-order or not.  With DarkFall; they've made it abundantly clear... if you want to make sure you get in at Release... you NEED to pre-order.

Why do you need to preorder ? Do you really NEED to be there at release ? If you are sceptic, just avoid the game until a few months in. This is a sandbox game with a cap on skills. There will be no god mode to race towards.
