Which server?

Just got the game, installing now...after all teh server merges and stuff I am looking for advice on which server to start on, PVE server preferred as I dont care too much for PVP. Also any suggestions on a good class for a beginner? I playe dhunter in wow for 2 years if that means anything.

Set Imo is the best PVE server. Others will probably not agree but i really enjoy the community there. As far as class, i really enjoy my HOX, it s good solo and i find him usefull in groups.

    Cimmeria for RP-PvP

    Tyranny for PvP

    Set for PvE

    Wiccana for RP-PvE

In your case, I'd say Set PvE as well =]

If you enjoyed playing a Hunter than you may want to try a Ranger in AoC.

Agony for joining the Freshstart population. My goal is to start a fun guild on this server.

Ranger is one of the hardest classes to play.

The easiest ones are :Guardian, Tos, POM and Barb.

But while rangers are a bit harder they are one of the funniest classes to play and popular in groups. It all depends on what you like, but rangers are not a pet class in AoC, if you are looking for a pet class you have to play Necro or possibly Demo, the necros pet is a lot more useful though.

I really want to play a ranger, I dont PVP much at all so I am rolling on a PVE server, but from what ive read..a ranger isnt really needed at all for end game raids and such, and I want to raid when I get max lvl, I dont want to lvl a class up to find out that im not wanted in end game.

I might be a demologist but I'm still not sure yet.

Well the best thing to do, is to read about all classes and pick for example 3 favourite ones.

And then try them all to around lvl 15-20

Ye, Demoligst are a cool class

I read that you played at launch and got to lvl 80, if you played a Demo back then, you will see how much better they are now

No one seems to mention IRONSPINE or AGONY.

These are the two new 'fresh-start' servers.  As in they just released at the time they merged the servers.  This allows people returning or newcomers to be competitive even though they don't have 3-5 lvl 80's.

    Ironspine - PvE

    Agony - PvP

Not true. Rangers do make a load of DPS on a single target, together with it's CC rangers are popular in any group. It is a rare thing if someone out DPS my ranger.

However Rangers are hard to play, a good ranger is worth his (or her) weight in gold but a bad one is kinda useless.

But there are some really good rangers RAIDing so don't you worry about that part. Or you could play a few level first, join a guild and ask if they prefer you to make an alt to another class.

The 2 most popular RAID classes however are POM and Guardian, they are needed in any end game however. If you truly want it easy to find a group you could make a POM. But I think you should play the class you really want, as long as you find a good guild you will get opportunitys enough to RAID

True I didn't mention Ironspine and Agony but for a reason. Fresh servers will either be a hit or a miss kind of like Bane Culture PvP was. You don't know how many new players are starting and you don't know how many of the players are rerolling there. It's a nice option but from what I hear the fresh servers are not very populated at this point in time.

Which is why a safe bet would be rolling on the servers I mentioned in my post above.
