For those of you who havent heard yet...It's stress test for 5-7 days
for fileplanet subscribers, followed by open beta for everyone. It
starts today Nov. 1 (stress test).

You know Blizzard is getting quite a few $$$ out of this deal, and pissing off all non-CB testers and non-fileplanet subscribers in the process.

Yep it's all for the money. Blizzard doesn't care if they piss off most of their fan base. If you are stupid enough to actually PAY money to fileplanet to get this beta and others, you deserve this gay 1 week stress test you noobs.

Fileplanet is worth every penny.... 5 bucks a month for all these files, high download speeds, no waiting in line... no ads on the site... betas like EQ2, WoW, MxO... free full games like Ground Control... all the latest demos and utilities...
And then when stuff like WoW OB comes out we dont have to wait in line for 2 hours before we start the 5 hour download. Hah.
Dont tell me your really too cheap for 5 bucks/month.
Its the basis on how they are treating the people waiting I think that is annoying people.
Oct 8th, main page of www.worldofwarcraft.com says open beta soon, wait for information in the next couple days.
Oct 29th, closed beta ends, no word on open beta, 21 days after the open beta soon post.
Nov 1st, stress test is opened, people start download the open beta installer.
Later nov 1st, people are told you have to pay Fileplanet, who will make money off this, who will give money to Blizzard for a 5-7 day stress test. Basically 23 days after open beta soon, blizzard decides they want money more than following up what they said and annoying people.
I have a hard time complaining about something free like a beta test. Its free, its uncompleted, but they are trying to get people to pay to play a stress test, thats wrong in my book, they know people are going to subscribe like crazy to get those 5-7 day headstarts, and its wrong. If you say beta test soon, do a beta test soon and stop yanking the leash around. Just my thoughts. 5-7 days isnt very long, but its crappy how they make you wait them.

I don't have a sub with fileplanet, nor will I ever get one
I remember SoE trying to charge me money for a SWG CD....(I gave it to a guildie rather than pay to beta test
) But this isn't about SoE. Its about getting publicity, and, dispite what you want to believe, Fileplanet attacts alot of attention, and saves bandwidth costs.
Now stop all the posts because you don't want to pay the fee ($14 a year or something?) and wait for Open beta like the rest.
(If your going to be playing an MMO, your not that bad off money-wise.)
As for me, I will enjoy getting back after a weekend without WoW

I really hope that's not true, because that is a big reason why Lineage 2 failed. Koreans have very different playstyles than NA, and NCSoft would only care about the Korean's views, and not worry about NA.

Sorry but Blizzard is getting about as low as SOE... just another company running their hands thru people's pockets. Release the game then I will hand you the money. Till then keep your damn hands out of my pocket.
I know it's optional but they also know how many been waiting to look at the game.

Free open beta in 1 week. You guys are flipping out -_-
- they never said "couple of days" they said "days ahead". Everyone who thought that meant a week or less was just assuming. IMO, Blizzard put that announcement up because of the gaming magazine ad that said to go to the site to join the open beta "now". They had to appease the fans who were going OMGWTF about that.
- people started downloading the stress test installer because the link was leaked by closed beta testers. That means they put their faith in the assumption that they'd be able to play BEFORE they even heard word from Blizzard on the WoW site. People who are annoyed at this should be upset with themselves, not Blizzard. They're the ones who tried to download before they actually received any official word about what was going on.
- Everyone assumes that Blizzard is money-hungry because of the Fileplanet thing. They assumed the same thing with the first stress test. The truth is, it costs money to host a file. The other truth is, it's probably Fileplanet that's being money-hungry with this. They're probably the ones who decide to make things like this exclusive to get more people to sign up to THEIR service. (notice it's THEIR service, not Blizzard's)
- If people are willing to pay to sign up for a 5-7 day stress test, I think that's their problem, not Blizzard's. It's not wrong of Blizzard. It's wrong of the people who are so obsessed with a game that they can't wait 5-7 days to play the open beta...or even 1-2 weeks after that to play the actual retail version.
I love how everything is Blizzard's fault when all they're doing is trying to get this game released and to do so as smoothly as possible.
It's just how they did it that everyone is getting pissed about.
First they say open beta is "soon" about a month ago. Then a few weeks later, still no open beta, or open beta sign ups.
Then they end closed beta, get everyone's hopes up *again*, then say you have to pay to be in beta for the next week.
Paying for beta is just crap IMO, it's pretty much the same as ebay except that it's legal.

It's like that will give them a few more thousands dollars bonus for nothing...
Y'know I really really really really really really really don't like fileplanet, I never subscribed to it, and I will never do it.... but I can understand why Blizzard did that.
This all makes sense now. No wonder WoW open beta came out late, it was because Fileplanet wanted to arrange ANOTHER stress test marketing scheme so Blizzard had to take time to fit in another stress test before WoW open beta, therefor it is FILEPLANETS fault for delaying the open beta.
