Wow and BitTorrent

I posted this earlier and it didn't come up so please excuse me if duplicates appear.

Anyhow to the point, when I try and download the wow client thru bittorrent it just shuts down my computer.Shuts down after about 2 minutes of downloading.

Computer specs:

amd athlon 1.7

512 ram

geforce fx

Any idea what the problem is?What I can do?

Any information would be helpful and appreciated.

That would be the WoW police hacking into your machine. Uhh.. well, maybe not..

Do you have a virus checker running? I was downloading something earlier and my virus checker went nuts! I checked it through Windows Task Manager and the download took up a max of 1 percent CPU usage, but the virus checker was taking 80 percent plus.

If its not that, do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and see if anything else is taking up your CPU time - maybe theres a program running thats eating up your processor time and causing Windows to shutdown.

I dunno. I just work here... image

Well due to bittorents programming it tries to connect to a lot of peers and that means opening up a lot of connections very fast that can cause windows to crash. And if it is a lot of files that are in use at the same time can cause your windows to run out of file handels wich might cause your windows to crash.

There are bittorrent clients that has setting for that but since you say it's about wow you prob have to use their bittorent client and should prob go to them about it.

i think cyan is correct, BT does connect to alot of client expecally when there like 3000 seeds/ 10000 peers, this can cause a problem with windows and with windows error system, there is an option that will shut your computer down when there is an error within windows.
