Yep, i know exactly the type of replies I will get before I even post this, and that is part of the reason I'm done with these boards, but post it I will.
In short, the whole site is now clearly worthless. It has been sliding for a long time now, but recently it has fallen to such lows, especially in the forums, that it's become pointless to even come here anymore.
So, I'm done.
The news and reviews are often out of date and usually crap, the interviews are amateur and often just embarrassing, the coverage of games is xenophobic in their 'if it 'aint America, it 'aint happened' BS coverage, their policing of trolls is inconcistent enough to make you wonder what their agenda actually is towards certain games and dev houses, and they don't even cover half the valid mmorpg games in production. It's simply has no credibility or worth and is pretty much a running joke across the genre's various websites.
It used to be ok as a site a while ago, but it's just steadily got worse and worse. It's just not worth the effort any more.
So, flame on, it's you guys that are stuck with it after all.

I find this to be a very strange topic, first off, no one is forced to come to this site, including you, so no one is stuck with it, they choose to be here. Second, are you sure you were not a part of the problem too? Third, I suspect you will be back, if only to see what people will say. Last, I too would like to see the mods do something about all the personal attacks, but people seen to take their games too seriously, and troll then, be it for or against a game. Good Luck, where ever you roam!
Just stop reading the Darkfall section and you will be fine.

OP sounds like if there had to be a good reason for people to be here, I'm bored waiting for a game to come and I whore these forums, once that game is released, I'll only come here because I enjoy stomping trolls and informing the community just as much as I enjoy gaming.
If you found a better place to do what you were doing here, grats, if you didn't, then good luck trying to fill that space.
I don't think very many people care to be honest. Cheerio.

Much better but the only problem is they actually enjoy the current mmorpgs on their podcast.
I just use mmorpg.com for forums.
I'm not going to flame you. I'm just going to say I would like to see you make your own site such as this. I think you'll find the stuff you complain about. Isnt as easy to tackle as you make it sound. I hear lots of complaints by you and other people about others trolling. Yet not once have I ever seen you or that other guy Paragus really say anything towards over the top fans. Hence why I never understood your or his complaints about people trolling, yet you seemed to be A-OK with rose colored comments by heavy supporters of a game.
As to MMORPG.com, I thought it was a great site when I first joined, and I still do to this day. I appreciate the staff and their efforts. Is it perfect? Nope, but what in life really ever is? I hope you find what you are looking for, but my own personal opinion from your posting history, is that you never will. Good luck though.

Yea thats about the extent of my visits too :P Except stomping trolls, and trolling :P I come here waiting for a game to release, or for me to find a decent game, play it for a few weeks or months not coming to this site, then coming back once more to find a new game.

That made me lol. How sad do you have to be to need "luck" to "find something better to do than hang around a website" hmm?
Perhaps people need to get out more? See some sunlight, fresh air etc.
This site has always been bad when it comes to news.. everything is outdated. As the op said a lot of mmos event aren;t presented here. if you want some good information you should check that other site =P But the forums are ok. I believe most ppl here are here because of forums and nothing else. =]

I only said "good luck" because, you know, there are a lot of worse things out there than browsing these forums. If you're about to change your habits, you better change them for something healthier or more productive
You know I'm not really sorry that you found out people have opinions different then yours. Nore am i saddened by the fact everyone is allowed to express their opinion not just you and people who share yours. It seems that all that is just alittle too much for you to handle so perhaps it is best you go somewhere where you will only hear things you like and agree with.
Sure I don't agree with everything I read here, but hell thats part of what makes the forums here
interesting.
It's funny, the things you mention that you don't like about the site, especially the forums, is what makes the site entertaining. And you have just added your own little bit of performance for the rest of us to enjoy in some small way.
If you are so done with it, why do you feel the need to start one more thread? Is this supposed to be some kind of attention thing? Oh, poor you. Here's an idea. If you are done with it, be done with it. Man up and move on.
Firstly, this is the best major mmo web site out there. The others delete posts with real opinions, the moderators let anything short of T&C violations fly here. If you want want to see people that are in beta breaking the NDA, if you want people giving 5 hour, 5 week and 5 month reviews, if you want to see why real people are pissed off for real reasons then stay. If you want a cup of tea, a hug and someone that tells you every game on the market is great because it beats reading a book in a dark room alone then try the other sites and don't feel shame when you return.
I log on this site, I can give my real opinion about a game. I can see what people loving the game say, I can see what people hating the game have to say about that, the carnage that ensues gives a complete picture of a game.
If no one was allowed their opinion then we'd all be playing UO and the computer industry would see no profit in advancing beyond a pentium one.

My exact thoughts when I read the OP.
Your stuff, can I haz?
Hmm, first, with 1000 posts in past 4 years, guess we're not going to miss much from you.
2nd, I know you're pissed that DF is turning out to be a major fail, but you are directing your anger towards the wrong people.
3rd, I confess, some parts of MMORPG are a bit rough, but not nearly as bad as you make it out. (again, too bad you didn't like the way the Tasos interview came out, but it seems now that it was pretty spot on and relevant.
Finally, you won't be missed, In fact, once this thread dies down, it will be as if you never existed. Which is why threads like this are pretty useless.
But it sure is fun to see the QQ tears.

I am confused and need help. The OP has advised in his post that he is leaving the site and will not be back. For some reason, this reminds me of people in-game who announce to the entire world that they are putting someone on ignore. I fail to understand the logic behind both situations. Why not just leave, or put someone one on your ignore list? What is the fascination with announcing it to the whole world? Who, do you suppose, cares but you?

He's trying to make a point so that maybe other people who think like him but are not vocal will do the same thing. It's the same thing as asking why people gather in protests, except that's a group of people. Maybe I won't care about what they're protesting, but the guy next to me might.
It's just human nature, people want to feel important.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

I do, guys been around a good bit of time. Everyone gets a viewpoint , sorta like buts. If you dont like it, move your nose or tell the but to move. Either way, you have the right to express yourself.
Another 'Whaaaa....I hate you all! Mommy they was mean to me!'thread. Oh well sorry, OP, that we don't all share your opinions about everything. I am sure you won't be missed. N don't let the door hit your a$$ on the way out.
I come here to research games that I haven't tried yet. I read the news articles and the forum replies pertaining to them. Sometimes I reply as well.
It's great to be able to open the games list and go to any of them offered there to find out more about them. I use that function to find free trials as well.
The news articles and the comments promote free speech and allow differing opinions to flourish.
I also find that gamer warnings in the forums can save me money if I heed them. Stupid me, I didn't in a few cases and got burned in the process.
All in all, I feel that MMORPG.com has been a service to me and I will continue to rely on it for news, reviews and gamer interaction.
Keep up the good work Jon, et al...
