Well I was the same at the start then I slowly started to log in less and less until one day I realized I hadn't logged in for a week and didn't really care.

Well your statement can be said to any other game out there as well, whether mmo or fps.

To get back on the subject at hand though, WAR is a mmo structured around RvR mostly and a great mmo casual game for that quick fix (at least for me).

To me WAR isnt like your average EQ 2 or WoW where the game is structured around PvE Raid Dugeons. The game is focused more around taking Battle Ojectives and Keeps. So if your looking to kill other players online as a priority, well this is the game to play.

I would say it has a Guild Wars type style of play. But this is my personal opinion.

If you try to speed through this game or if you only care about stats/gear, you'll find it's lacking. If you go a little slower, explore a bit, get into the lore, and RvR for winning's sake, not for UBER GEAR's sake, I think you'll enjoy it alot more. But yeah, casuals definetely have more fun with WAR overall.

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Its not burn out that makes the T4 PvP so bad.  Its actially just bad.  Poor CC, no real "winning" or strategy, and the higher Renown Ranks are as bad as any gear gap in WoW.  RR80 toons get a 20% boost to damage.

I acutally agree though about the PvE to some extent there are a lot of over looked little tidbits in the ToK and cool exploration stuff.  The questing is a little flat but there is more than questing if you take the time to look.

However the t3 xp grind does just plain suck.  Just not fun.  Its not the longest grind out there, its just the grindiest.

Yeah...same.  To the OP...if you've just started this game and like it, that's great. :)  Congratulations.  But don't be too disappointed or shocked if you hit about mid-20s in rank and start to just not care anymore.  I understand they have supposedly "fixed" a lot of things, so maybe you will get better mileage out of the game than some of us did.

So I thought aswell. So I resubbed, twice, after the big patches to see what has changed. Which to my conclusion was nothing. It felt absolutely the same. Only marginal differences that wouldn't flip me over. I will still keep an eye on patches and see what they come up with. But I do hope they come up with something fast, since I feel theres other games closing in soon that wants my attention!

I gotta agree.. i sped to 15 or so found that it was all quest grinding. Then, i started grinding mobs in pq's did a ton of scenarios and rvr , and bang i was in the mid 20's. Not  a bad variety i guess.

I hate gear based games and i hate quest grinding. I miss the good ol days of camping and grinding. I miss rolling stats for my character and training points. Not paying for a move and gear on some chest piece.

For some reason quests annoy the hell out of me. At least WAR came with a bit of a story for those interested.

Maybe it is because WoW was not my first mmo....

I dont even understand the desire to grind.  Once I get midway through a tier, I'm trying to prolong my time at the top of the tier.  I just do RvR because it's fun and the elvels come on their own.

Some of the more critical, mostly "required" gears for endgame in WAR:

    High Level Armor Sets:

    • Lesser Wards: Bloodlord Armor Set: Requirements: Ranks: 37-39. Found in: Bastion Stair....Annihilator Armor Set: Requirements: Ranks: 35-39 and Renown Ranks 31-35. Found in: Tier 4 RvR
    • Greater Wards: Sentinel Armor Set: Requirements: Rank 40. Found in: City High Level Dungeons....Conqueror Armor Set: Requirements: Rank 40 and Renown Ranks 45-50. Found in: Fortresses
    • Superior Wards: Darkpromise Armor Set: Requirements: Rank 40. Found in: Lost Vale....Invader Armor Set: Requirements: Rank 40 and Renown Ranks 55-60. Found in: Invasion PQs
    • Excelsior Wards: Warlord Armor Set: Requirements: Rank 40 and Renown Ranks 64-70. Found in: Sub-Boss PQs (in cities while contested)
    • Supreme Wards: Sovereign Armor Set:Requirements: Rank 40 and Renown Ranks 73-80. Found in: King Fight (in cities while contested)

You can't do much in Warhammer endgame without this stuff starting around Level37. Keep Lords and Pvp people will eat you alive. This sure looks like a gear grind based treadmill to me. Wow and Warhammer are very similar in respect to gearing up.

    OP-

I just bought the game recently as well and I am finding myself enjoying it very much at this present time. For right now I am happy, I don't know if I will find it boring in the future, I hope not though! I am only level 13, I just hope it doesn't get any less fun after 20 like others have said! I will post on here in the future and let you all know what I think after 20's!

  • SalvatorisSalvatoris Member Posts: 1,360

I don't know where this "less fun after 20" stuff comes from.  I have only spent a little bit of time in tier 4.... but I loved every bit of the other three.  I have alts spread out through the tiers and I actually think tier 3 is where the game really shines.  I understand that there are some stability issues in tier 4, but I'm not really in a hurry to find out first hand.  I'm just enjoying the ride there.
