8th or 9th?

This is kind of a stupid question...but both dates keep flying around. Official site says that it ships on the 8th...so does that mean you can buy it? Some people seem to be under that impression. I am under the impression that since I haven't seen anyone ever buy a game from the back of a truck going down the freeway, that shipping on the 8th means buying on the 9th, especially since the 9th is a tuesday and that's usually when most things come out.
Anyone think they have THE definitive answer? I've a bad feeling that this thread is only going to turn into a "yes it is!" "NO IT ISN'T!" kinda thread.
I personally am hoping for monday, but tuesday isn't much further so I guess it doesn't matter too much. I would like to start playing on the day it comes out though.

It is shipping on the 8th. If you happen to live near a store that actually recieves it the same day, then you can purchase it. Most stores will happily open a box and sell a game that just came in. I'm betting it will not be widely available until the 9th as you have to allow for shipping times.
Yeah, like Dyrtt said, some stores get it the same day. Quite often Gamestop and EB get the big games in on the same day they are released. (not always, but my Gamestop gets the big new games the day they come out 3 out of 4 times) Best way to find out is just to call around on the 8th.
