Whatever intented or not, for a game with a low budget in advertisement and a low amount of information being spread around. This game is getting A LOT of hype.
Well, the only real "hype" this game has, is based on the more "hardcore" online gaming communities. If you ask your basic casual gamer about Darkfall, you'll get some odd, confused looks.. Try it some time, it's kinda funny.

Ever seen a crowd gathered around a traffic accident or a building on fire?
Yup. That's exactly the same kind of crowd that's gathering around Darkfall anticipating an epic disaster. I'd say the blind fanboy legions are doing a wonderful job drawing people in to watch the entire trainwreck.

Why post here then? You seem to be one of those crowed. Why are those poeple here? So they can say I told you so? So when they get home they can say there where there?
Beside that, how can you comment on the state of the game? While haters constantly complain about the lack of information? How can ANYONE base an opinion when information is lacking? What do poeple really hate, Tasos, Aventure, the concept?
Those hatefull threads and comment only act as fuel, generating more interest in the game. Many poeple will follow the game now when it gets released. When it is good, many hater will prolly play the game. If it fails many fan boys will just move on (and some will not and make some sort of emu :P). I do assume Tasos really thinks what he is creating will be good (Asuming he is not trying to fraud) and that would make the way he is advertising a good way considering his budget.
It will however have pushed away potentiol subscribers, but if they released more information, did more interviews and press events. They at the end would have had as much interest generated for a lot more money.

True enough.. though.. you have to understand, most people get pissed off when they are neglected. Negative hype isn't always bad hype. Remember Janet Jackson?
With hype comes higher expectations. That in turn produces great disapointment. Its hard to live up to the hype or expectations most of the time.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Many times players will start as fanboys and after being mislead enough will turn and become haters. They are like ex-smokers, passionate in their hate of the the former addiction, in this case the game, devs, community or all three. Tasos has certainly done enough to make a lot of haters the last four years and the community has done more than its share also.
So I figure thats why they are in the forums and will remain there for a good while.

In some cases, but in this case the hype is created by the poeple with the high expectation and not the company itself.
Bingo...either way..its all the same in the end.

I think he's one of the many disgruntled MMO players that's really tired of the Crap that's been coming out for a while. Sure, everything about Darkfall is shady, but it's a great game on paper. And as much as somepeople want it to suceed, and some want it to fail, it represents would could be a GREAT game.

I wish I had archived some of the origjnal posts about Horizons which were on the ultima online USENET group and online boards in the late 1990s. Pretty much everything currently promised for Darkfall was promised for Horizons. Let's just say.... it didn't happen. But when it flopped, people moved on to Shadowbane, and now to Darkfall, and eventually they'll move on to Mortal Online, or whatever game is next...
The tiny niche of "hardcore" PVPers cannot sustain a Triple-A title. Only a small dev team with a small budget can make a profit from this niche, but the niche demands the kind of gameplay and polish only a Blizzard or a Sony can deliver. EVE Online is probably the best possible game in this niche, and it works because it cuts a LOT of corners compared to a "traditional" fantasy RPG -- a ship is a lot easier to render than an animated figure, and empty space is a lot less server intensive than a world. The niche wants WOW polish will full PVP looting, EQ1 PVE with perfectly balanced PVP, plus Star Wars Galaxies crafting and city building, plus Ultima Online freedom of development -- and they want it done by a team of 30 people. Won't happen -- CAN'T happen -- and unless expectations are downgraded a LOT, when Darkfall finally sputters to a "live" state, the most rabid "fans" will become the "haters", mostly because they created, in their minds, a game no reality could match.
People who like "full loot PVP" are a very small market, and most of them are playing EVE.
Just not the part now to Darkfall, and eventually they'll move on to Mortal Online, or whatever game is next...
I too thought Mortal Online would be very similar to what Darfall tries to deliver. But wasting some hours reading about their game. I can clearly say, MO will not be anything near Darkfall, the only things are similar is Sandbox and FFA PvP Full Loot.
With this i can say, that i won't look for MO with the features that DF provides but an completely different game, that also appeals me, a little less but with alot of appeal.

I loled and quote it for truth.
Blind fanboi legions?
Are they another featured mob in the game?
I'm guesssing they're fiercely protected by hoards vicious guide dogs?
PS: Wherever did you get those large colourful shoes (and the squirty flower).

Well, they'll definitely be featured in the game, but as player characters and not mobs

Edit: Further Information for me right now:
DarkFall - Sandbox, Epic PvP, Massive Battles, massive Politics, massive Zergs. (Awesome)
Mortal Online - Sandbox, Epic Adventure, Great Combat System.
