Hello,
This is first call for beta testers to participate in OPEN BETA, which opens on January 22nd.
Yester-Quest is a low-budget Indie developed THEMEPARK PVE MMORPG based on the Torque Game Engine (TGE 1.52) and the Prairie Games Torque MMO Kit. Current status of the MMO is roughly 85% complete, and could be best described as "Graphically Challenged" .
Please understand, unlike major studio MMOs who hold Open-Beta as a publicity event to give people a free trial and gain hype, the intent of this event is to RECRUIT BETA TESTERS to assist in the continued development of the MMO. People who are not offering to help with testing should not participate.
I will be posting the (Windows) OB client on the web site for download later this afternoon, Weds Jan 21.
Thanks for your time and the consideration of this offer.
Regards,
Ken Fisher

This game actually seems pretty cool. I hope you can get enough people to try the open beta. I'm excited to play it tomorrow, and I'll definitely contribute as much to the beta as I can.
Currently on a quest to try every free-to-play MMORPG. Okay, maybe not every single one, but most of them.
"Hello,
"I realize that a large number of MMO players are looking for games quite different from what I'm offering with Yester-Quest. There's no Hype, BS or Spin in this presentation. If what we have is what you want, please check it out. If not, no hard-feelings and best of luck finding the right MMO for you."

Now THAT scores you big points in my book.
Glad to have you along! I recognize the name from the forums, so I'm pretty sure you've registered. Feel free to shout if I can be of any help.

@ Z, TY TY
Looks like a nice, honest project. Unlike some I could care to mention.
You can definitely count me in.
if your pc still has a space bar, im in
Omfg that made me lol.
Did you post the beta yet? I cannot find it on the site.
The client is down in the support section. It took me a little while to find.
Yester, you might want to make a downloads section or something so the client will be easier for people to find.

It would be funny to post this in the Darkfall forums, since this game looks like the opposite of Darkfall. Among other things, it seems to actually exist.
Looks more promissing then alot I have played. I'll do what I can to help test.
I went ahead and downloaded the client, this project looks VERY cool.
hehehe, Sometimes I really have to wonder what's going on with that game. I hope they can get a decent release out someday.

@ Writers (and others)
TY TY! I appreciate the help!

Its the opposite of many games...dont know why you isolate Darkfall, unless your interested in pushing trolls there.
This looks like a pleasent change from the usual, i'l give it a shot, downloading now.
Edit: connection was refused

Come out soon Aion
Sorry about that...
The overnight patch went long. I've been putting in flight forms for endgame, and the dragon has been giving me fits. All fixed now.
For the moment, known issues are: some localized versions of Windows can't see all the fonts, and certain brands of router/firewall combos are blocking traffic because of some unusual networking techniques used by the server cluster (SPI detects IP spoofing ?).
Ken
Thanks for doing indie MMORPG development.
Let's hope this spawn some more studios that might end into commerciel games

Looks promising to me!
Let's hope its something totally different that finally gets me in mmorpg again.
Made a topic in introduction and already downloading
From MMORPG Design Group:
The Yester-Quest developement is being frozen, and current development picked up as basis for re-introducing the sister project named "RealmLords" with emphasis on PvP.

It is understood that fans of the YQ concept will not find this to be good news. Unfortunately, given limited resources, there is no way we ( I ) can develop both simultaneously, nor do I want to miss out on the opportunities which are present.
The current open-beta will transition directly into RealmLords open-beta. Beta forum and link to client download is at mmorpgdesign.proboards.com Both the RealmLords.com or Yester-Quest.com sites will be updated in the next few days.

NOTICE: BETA ENDING
We're now 1 week prior to release, and I have a ton of things I need to button-up before then. Servers will be down more than up for the next couple of days. I wish I had a staging server, but without one I have no choice to develop directly on the live network.
Also noteworthy is that the Yester-Quest project has been shelved. We're releasing RealmLords, and nobody expected the changes we've made. Especially me!

See ya soon,

P.S. This account will be removed shortly because of shelving YQ's development until next year.
So when can we expect the typical Item mall in this one?
NOTE:
Switching development from RealmLords to Yester-Quest (my mistake*), and then back to RealmLords (my fixing my mistake), has left this thread obsolete.
Here's the current beta notice.
Thanks,
Ken
* = The issue behind the mistake is that an Indie pure PVE game would be competing in an already saturated general market and unlikely to develop its own niche market to survive.
