Anyone else get into the preview?...both my girlfriend and I did and was kind of surprised to not find any posts here. Girlfriend played it some at Gen Con...Didn't seem too bad.

I read the forums and due to the NDA I really can't say anything...hell I don't even know if I'm allowed to say "i'm in beta" But I'll test the game and when I'm allowed to actually say anything I'll give some unbiased review/opinions and thoughts.
To be honest I seen the game at Gen Con and it seemed fun. Although I did wonder why the heck they would release another Super Hero MMO. But I try not to pay much attention to MMO's anymore...I hate getting excited about games but then having to wait a year to even play it. So I tend to ignore them...so when I got invited I just assumed it was getting released soon and I got a open beta invite.
Far as i know it's scheduled for a spring release, which kinda caught me off guard a little.I'd no idea the release was so close.
Saw on the website the other day that they're accepting open beta invites so i applied, nothing yet though.
Played: WoW, Lotro, AoC, Eve, CoX.
Shortly be playing: WAR and champions if the release date holds.

My guess is their team is co-testing the general codebase that is a mix between Champions and StarTrek... if you watch the videos, side by side, they look as if they play very much the same, so it's likely they share a comon codebase making bug finding a shared experience.
It would not surprise me to see it hit Open Beta this Spring... I'm excited about that.

We can say we are in Beta, we simply cant say more than that.
I would say late 2009 will be the release date. Since DCUO has said they will most likey be a 2010 release that gives Champions a nice breathing window especialy considering how good the game is now. Polish Polish away cryptic.
Btw its not open beta, it is closed beta. Alpha ended in late Nov, so this is infact very early closed beta as well.
Cryptic Dev's have stated in different interviews that the game will be out 'Spring 2009' and Emmert himself has said April 09 in interviews. Of course like all MMORPG's, the projected date could be pushed back if they have enough funding for a delay.
Here's where Bill Roper confirmed the date on Xplay ( It's at 5:22 )

As I understand it Champions had been worked on for a good bit of time before they acquired the Star Trek IP and did in fact use the same code/engine for champions in STO but it is as they say the engine they will most likely build all of their games on but it was champions first since it is the first game they developed with it.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
If you are in beta you can say that you are in, but nothing more than that. :-)
Personally I think Atari taking over Cryptic will see them delay the title for a Q4 release so it can go out during the Xmas rush.
