This thread has gotten a bit off track and now is stuck on the pvp vs. pve argument.  It may be my fault.  I may still get it on release but im not sure.

If having PVP is such a big !@#$ing deal to everyone then why is it that in EQlive the PVP servers where virtually empty? image

There will be PvP is obvious... John Smedly quotes, "We didn't make this game Good VS Evil for no reason you know".   And as far as pushing the game out too early... i don't think 7 days early is must of a push.  I don't care if its not completely finished as long as i can play it and they can update it thats all i care.  Ide rather play it early than play it later cuz im getting bored.

Personally I'm glad there isn't any pvp. I hated to have to tweek my toon for pvp, it really cuts down on the options. AO was the worst about having to tweek in order to be effective at all. Otherwise you are just cannon fodder.

trust me there will eventually be pvp... this is a good vs evil type of game. there will be PVP EVENTUALLY.  As far as people being so mad as to not buy EQ2 because no twinking and only 4 char slots... GET OVER YOURSELVES... twinking is what ruined EQlive because it made EVERYTHING about items its not the case in EQ2 and the gameplay shouldn't be uberized like EQlive was... 4 slots, thats good enough ...stop whining.

After SWG I have a very bitter taste in my mouth over anything SOE touchs.

I hear these great remarks from friends of mine about EQ2 and the graphics, then they make the mistake of showing them to me. Frankly they are pretty boring and nothing new there.

So what is in EQ2 that is not already in EQ? I am not seeing anything that would get me to quit EQ to play EQ2. Most of the newer concepts they have for EQ2 are already in EQ. Only difference is that with any new game it means more bugs.

I am not huge into PvP, but when I first played EQ and my guild leader asked me, a dwarf cleric to heal a night elf I about choked. And I am not a big role playing type either. Finding a paladin and shadowknight in the same group was and is a joke. It appears the joke is being carried into EQ2.  Evidently most people could care less about this or SOE would not continue down this path.

Hehe, dont pvp, dont roleplay...dont think an MMORPG is for you, but anyway...

My SWG subscription ends 5th november, quit for the final time cos JTL's release means that no one plays the gorund game anymore,...so servers are empty, everyones in space, which i find stupid, may aswell do away with the rest of the game. So i wanna give this a try. Havent played the original EQ, but i all i want is epic pve, you know like huge beasts, caverns, big mountains, believavle cities, living community and full servers. I think EQ2 can offer that. In SWG im an all out pvper, so if i dont mind the lack of pvp, dont see why anyone else cant, cos atm, pvp jsut means constant competition, people finding new exploits, peopel getting angry, flaming.etc....its really a bad part of any MMO. I think EQ2 will play strongly with the grouping/community ethic.

As for the 4 character slots across all servers, i think thats great and heres why:

In SWG you can creat ONE character per server..jsut one, if you wanna have a crafter to supplement ur pve char..tough, u gotta buy another subscription. I myself would only ever want 2 chars, cos i want peopel to recognise my name, and say hello, just like real life, i dont want to be a split personality, and play numerous chars, making all my own stuff and fighting on my own, there sohuld be dedicated crafters and dedicated fighters, people shouldnt be a jack of all trades, and 4 character slots is plenty!!

I mean, i play MMO's many hours a day, althoguh alot less recently, and i often question myself spending all day playing games like SWG.....but doing that on 4 characters and STILL wanting to level more is absurd. With EQ2 i wont be doing a level grind all over again, ill explore and do it at my own pace, cos i believe that this game will hopefully allow me to do that.
