Everytime Bioware comes out with something, we have people attempt to poke holes in everything that they say. And in doing so they get consumed. We have a lot of narrow mindedness or lack of vision when topics of this game come to rise.
So to answer your question... There is no point that some of these guys & gals read the SWTOR forums.... See they have seen the light and know exactly how this game is going to be regardless if it has not even close to Beta testing. And they can reserve the right to hate something they dont understand. I can understand that, but so little has come out about the game... The attempts to implement story and will it be a single player MMOG? But since Bioware has not stated how they plan to implement it, it allows the masses to either jump off a cliff or allow people watch these people jump off the cliff. In my case, I would love to sit back and watch. I can only pray that the Devs at Bioware pay attention to the forums and develope a game that everyone on these forums will play.
The way I look at it is.... If im trying to surprise someone. If I had got them a present, I would give them hints of what it is. But never devulging the actual present. So when they have the details and formulate their own opinion. O this is going to suck. Dude got me a pair of socks for Christmas... Awesome thanks dad...... But when they open it up on Christmas day, it turns out to be a RC Chopper. BTW thanks dad that was an awesome present! (15 years ago lol) But that is what im expecting. I can only hope that the Devs are using this mind set. That is the feeling im getting anyway, and YES i can be completely wrong.
Hmm, from the little info I gathered and the sort of people following this game, I think it will be a pure pve game, no skills but levels, no sandbox elements whatsoever.
It will be like LOTRO but in the Star Wars setting. I liked LOTRO, but it didnt have enough longetivity for me. It is nice to explore such a game, but in the end it is just another game, not a Virtual World.
They will probably get the same following as LOTRO ( between 150k and 200k ), if it is as polished and has as much content.
I will probably not try it, cause there are more interesting titles comming up.

I love how people are like "TOR wont have more than 200k subs" when we barely now anything, and have maybe 25 seconds of pre-alpha footage. Also everyone going "LOL its gonna be single player game online! What till we actually have more info before you judge it.
Lol I’m past the point of caring what people think TOR might be like. If you listen to cynics all your life you will miss out on a lot of potentially great things.
Well, part of the problem for me is, if I have to watch a single minute of video its a fail. I won't do it. I'm old school, I read about games, not watch TV programs about them.
But what is there is pretty limited. The developers are keeping lots of stuff close to the vest, and when you do that there is going to be idle speculation that will sometimes run wild on the least little rumor or hint.
Regarding the present analogy someone mentioned, I hate surprises, since more often than not you don't get what you really wanted. My wife surprised me with an inexpensive, low res, video camera. I won't be using that, still sitting in the package (she lost the receipt) as it would not fit my needs.
This happened, because she didn't ask me what I wanted, so therefore she could not adequately meet my needs. Same thing is true in gaming, developers who deliver what they think we want frequently fail.
Fact is, we don't have a whole lot of facts, so therefore people will continue to ask questions and speculate.
Which is what gaming forums are for, btw.

the video and the screen shots both show that the game is further along than people care to admit. I know there will always be nay sayers Gamers on forums are like the 70 year old italians playing bochi ball talking crap about the government.
I am old school as well i am in my 30s and started playing EQ in the late 90s and before that i grew up playing D&D, it is still good to adapt.
Personally I think that this company has been much more forthcoming about this game than say the makers of Darkfall.
With Darkfall you have....nothing. A game that's been in the making for 5 + years and still no DEV videos explaining darkfall, no previews and countless delays to launch.
The announcment was barely 6 months ago for TOR and we already have a nice DEV video where they discuss the game and what it's all about. Plus a couple of spots in gaming magazines. THAT'S how to properly promote your product.
