I'm guessing they decided to go Guild Wars way, u just pay for DVD and enjoy the game.

$$49.99 for regular DVD

$$69.99 for collectors edition

Better to wait for official NCSoft release announcement.

Launch dates on Amazon or other internet shops are not allways accurate.

If stores don't have a release date, they will make one up. May 26 has not been announced as the release date for Aion, so it's just speculation by Amazon.

also, there will probably be a monthly fee.

If you are saying you just buy the Game DVD and you dont have to pay anything every month you are wrong. If not what do you mean with the "guild wars" way ?

HIGHLY unlikley.  You have to pay a monthly fee in Korea.  Doubt it would change elsewhere.

Game stores usually put an estimate date on releases that haven't been officially announced yet.

Though saying that there was one intersting story I heard.   Gamestop put a release date on a recent game that wasn't officially announced.  However when the game WAS offiicially announced, the date was spot on and there was alot of suspicion.  Gamespot ended up getting a slap on the wrist by the company.

Wish I could remember which game it was.

this game is a pay to play, like wow and eq2...not  buy to play like gw (well gw is not an mmorpg imo)

and also amazon release date means nothing when therre is no offecial release date by ncsoft...its just speculations.

Actually, it might not be a bad assumption that it will be at least sometime in May. Other retailers have been saying May for months now. True, it isn't official, but its at least not a bad guess.

I also agree it will be a pay to play, as the guildwars idea is somewhat dated. I've even heard talk that GW2 will be pay to play. From a business sense, it's the better way. Although I can only partly agree about GW being (or not) a mmorpg. It is an MMO, but not exactly an rpg.

    -----------------------
Tried- L2, Ryzom, WAR, DDO, PWI, Tab Rasa, Requiem, Champs, AA, JD, PWI, SUN, Dawntide

Mid or end of May is still on calendar with what NCSoft said as probable before Corea launch.

    Corea launch + 2/3 months = China launch + 2/3 months = Europe/NA launch.

Open beta for china starts on January 25th probably going retail around February 15th. Make the numbers

first of all Guild Wars is an mmorpg .. ive played it for like 3 years now so i think i know what im talking about ..

second of all GW2 will NOT be pay to play game since arenanet has officially stated in all interwiews and in their official site that they will keep the tradition of original guild wars by not making GW2 p2p game ..

third of all .. no official date has been stated from any Aion official gaming site so i dont believe that may 26 or whatever is accurate ..

Exactly, this is how they have had it laid out for some time now. Plus if I remember right Japan has made an announcement for release sometime this summer and Europe and NA are due for release before Japan if they follow the original schedule.

btw, fixed Korea for you :)

    Thanks for the fix.

Really i'm very confused about how to spell. I was using K till someone, cant remember who and wich thread, said in these boards that really C has to be used because Coreans/Koreans use it and the K was just started to be used by americans.

Will be great if some Korean/Corean could clarify it. Thanks in advance.

Guild Wars is an Online RPG, or CORPG if you will, but it's not an MMO.

No, I'm afraid by making this statement depite your "experience" you've pretty much proven you don't know what you're talking about.

Even the developers don't call it one, they called it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role Playing Game).

The key missing ingredient is the 'MM' part.

     edit: I was too slow.

But back on topic, Aion is going to be pay to play, no doubt about it.

Yeah Aamzon has changed their release dates for Aion at least 4 times that i know of. The release date is close to how NCSoft is releasing it thruogh the different countries for now.

Guild Wars is not a MMORPG. Its an online RPG with districts instead of channels.

it would be awesome if they release in May 26, 2009 because it was mostly the last day for college student.

May would be awesome, but 'summer' might be closer to the mark :S

There we go, Aion doesn't release in May and we get people whining because of pushbacks...please, wait for NCsoft to announce the release date, that day (the day they'll announce it) shouldn't be far

the problem, as i see, is that the game is already running in other countries, so we are less patitent with the release of this game than others.
