Hey guys, I'm really excited about this game, but I just want to 2 major things! Aion, is it open world PvP/PK? meaning can you attack anyone at anytime at ANYWHERE you like?!?!?

The short answer is yes/no
This is not open world like Lineage 2 and most of the pvp takes place in a center area called the abyss. There are portals that open where, if you are fast enough you can get to the other faction's side, but even there the lower lvl areas are no open pvp.
Oh and you aren't able to attack people of your own faction.

Argh, I never played Lineage II, how is the PvP and style? I read it on wiki etc, but it doesnt explain much...
you can kill anyone, if you kill somebody who doesnt fight back, your name goes red and you can be killed by anybody and you are also KOS to guards in all cities. If you hit somebody your name turns purple allowing other people to attack you also making their names purple. If you kill somebody with a purple name you get no penalty or red name.
so you can attack and kill anybody you want if you dont mind the penalty(as long as they dont hit you back that is). Also whenever you die, you lose expirience, which is the main motivation for not dieing (or atleast it was till everyone started botting). Also your clan can declare war on other clans allowing you to kill them without turning red. (but you still go purple once you hit them) And this is just the regular world pvp.
Every weekend every castle has a window to which it can be attacked and taken from the clan owning the castle. And the castle owning clan gets buffs and money and etc from owning it.
Aion's pvp reminds me of AOC's faction pvp servers. I would really like to see a server that included lineage 2's world pvp rules and etc. I really dislike the whole "you can only attack other factions" kind of thing, because i would reallly like the option to kill that retarded party member who just wont listen and causes a whole buncha drama. And i've also seen people call aion a "pvp" game, although it's pvp features arent as pvp oriented as other pvp games such as lineage2 or even AOC (pvp servers)

WASD is fully supported so is click to move but you can turn off click to move in the UI. When you move while fighting your stats will change depending which direction you are moving. Controls respond very fast.
Forward = higher phy power but lower phy def.
Backward= Higher phy def but lower phy power.
sidestep= higher evasion stats

factions make for boring predictable pvp. the good thing about lineage 2 pvp is that you dont know if that person running toards you will attack you or just run past. factions puts a big red light over the enemies head and says "theres the enemy retard".

exactly! And also the fact that both factions speak different languages is discouraging as well. I dont know why they feel the need to seperate both halves of the community, I hope that some time after launch they could change the language barrier if enough people ask for it. Even though the factions cant group or be in the same guild, there is no reason they cant converse and do a little trash talking, thats one of the things i didnt like about WoW.

OMG, Thanks tvalentine and others for the their posts! Was very useful! Oh man , that sounds awesome! I love the PvP, yes there is a slight drawback, like risks etc.... What happens if you hit someone , you than turn purple, but u managed to run away, how can you get rid of your purple name?
your purple name will eventually go away, and to warn others that your name is reverting back to white, your name blinks purple to white to purple for about 5 - 7 seconds
Also, once I killed someone, I turned red, how do I get rid of the red name tag?
the more pks you have the more "karma" you get. You can get rid of your karma by dieing or killing mobs. So if you have like 20 pks and pk another person its going to take more deaths and dead mobs till your white again.
Also after your 5th pk, you have a chance of dropping something (either wearing or from your inventory) when you're red.

if you get pked when your purple or white you dont drop anything. And i dont think you drop anything when you die in PVE. I cant remember if they used to have it and removed it, or if they never had that feature.....

Wait a minute, I don't think the whole purple, dropping thing is Aion. That is lineage 2.
Aion is a faction based so I believe you can just attack your opponent if you see them.
The way I understand it working in Aion is that you can't gank or attack people in starter areas.
You are separated from the enemy except for the abyss. There are random portals that open up and you can take those (if you are quick?) to the enemy lands in order to attack them.
And for the gentleman who said that faction pvp is boring, "no it's not".
If you are in an ffa pvp game and you see one group of your enemy are you not going to attack them becasue they are only one group and it will be boring?
Is the premise of football or baseball or hockey boring because there aren't more teams?

I honestly don't know as this is the info I've gotten from the devs. i haven't seen anything more about that. Might check Aionsource today.
In any case, that is why I feel it's important to mention it. It is interesting but it also does not make it a "lineage 2" type game with pk'ing all over the place.

I think there is an arena as well. For my tastes this is fine as I'm a bit burnt out on the whol ffa thing as I like a more controlled play experience.
However, from what I've seen, I think Aion might be my permanent game as it gives me everything that I've been lookikng for. I just hope the sieges are fun and that people actually do them.

Anyways, I played noobie shitty MMORPG, such as Guild Wars etc.. therefore I had to much PvP restrctions in the past... wanted to be FFA PvP/PK, open world PvP... as I'm hungry for pvp!

But again, I really have to state that this is not a hardcore pvp game. It is a pvp game. But I don't really believe you will be pvp'ing from lvl 1.
