Reading the patchnotes and not seeing whats so special about them...

Though I do like the Vangaurd-ish water thing.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Or are you telling us instead that you went out with a couple of newb skills and killed 20 Gnolls. And everything seemed to work just fine.
I do hope Darkfall delivers, but I'm certainly not pre-ordering until I feel I have the lowdown.

    Precisely!

So again DFC(short for the Darkfail club, err fanclub) SHOW DADDY THE MONEY BABIE!

And let's just say that I concur.

    Muahahaha!

    Oh please.

The fanbois are so desperate to prove this game is real. If there really were clan invites going out we would have already seen leaked reviews and video clips.

After 8.5 years in development there is no way everyone would keep quiet because of an NDA. Ive been following MMO's for 10 years and not once have I seen a game have zero leaks.

Haha.  Whatever you wanna believe man:)

BTW- there are leaks.  Nothing that will color you satisfied, but they are fairly substantial.

    One just needs to google.

Anyways... better things to do, fun to be had, forums and requests to ignore... muahahahha...

    Cya!

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few months, you will know - Troll and Fanboy alike - that the news coming from the Aventurine camp has been less than pleasing (when there has been news at all). The resounding murmur seems to be that the game is not ready. We know it. Tasos knows it. There is only a month left until the misguidedly announced release date, and all but the most optimistic of us know either it won't release, or will be released in a broken state.
Therefore, I feel it's time for Tasos to come clean. I have to admit, as cycnical as I am about the whole development, if he came forward and made a truthful, honest assessment about just how far behind they are, and a REAL estimate of how long they need (be it months or years) then he would go up a lot of people's estimations.
Delays pass by. Lies and broken promises endure. I really think for the sake of Darkfall, Tasos needs to come clean. Swallow his pride, and tell it like it is.
Do any of you agree? Or do you think this will simply be more damaging to an already controversial development?
I for one have had enough of statements similar to those quoted in my sig...

I have a glancing interest in this game.  I no longer get my hopes up when I hear of a new MMORPG.  When I do hear of something I think I will enjoy I like to get the facts first.  I am bipartisan when it comes to Darkfall.  If it's a success I'll be happy and if it's a failure *shrug*  - it's not my money.

From this post you seem to have all the facts about Aventurine and Tasos.

Please post links with regards to the statements you listed above.  I'm not interested in your conjecture or speculation - I want facts.  Since you've put yourself out there and a person 'in the know' I don't think it will be too tough for you to prove what you said and back it up with real evidence.

I'm sure everyone reading this would benefit more from your insight if you posted the links where you got your ideas from.

I have no problem doing this, I'll get the info together and post it later.

Hm, I'm still waiting for your reply - is it ready yet?

I'm looking forward to reading it.

The only coming clean that is useful at this point is dropping NDA. MMOs don't go out the door "finished" regardless of who makes them. It's a question of degrees, how "finished" is it? I'd like to get that info from the beta players. No offense to Tasos, but I don't care what he has to say about the state of the game at this point.

    ZZZZZ read the leaks.

  • ShanniaShannia Member Posts: 2,096

Developers don't tell the truth.  They are gifted in playing word games and lying to the community.  Look at the launches of Vanguard, POTBS, Fury, Hellgate:London, Tabla Rasa, AoC, and WAR.  The list could go on and on.  The fact remains that developers spin what they say so it is what you WANT to hear and not what the truth is.  Truth of the matter is, there is almost always more truth in what "trolls" leak about games for release than what the developers tell us.  Game after game, we get post launch apology  letters from devs saying we had to cut this and that to make the deadlines.  Uh huh... and they knew that six months before launch and decided to tell us the week or day before or post launch, why?

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

     NO!!! Of course not!!!

After all, everytime Tasos speaks something about DFO (like the launching day, the reason why the forums are down, etc...) a fanboy dies (we must speak very deeply ´I BELIEVE IN DARKFALL!!! I BELIEVE IN DARKFALL!!! and clap or hands three times, otherwise a fanboy dies)..

I must admit I'd forgotten about this.

If you need an example of a lie by Tasos then just look to his "It could release tomorrow" comment. If it could release tomorrow, release it. He hasn't. Therefore it is an arrogant mistruth at best and a blatant lie at worst. No game that is 'complete' requires the number of tweaks and adjustments that the recent patch notes have listed.

I too only have a passing interest in the game itself. What has motivated me to become more involved in the discussions surrounding this game is the blind faith displayed by fanboys and their unwavering allegiance to a company that has done nothing to earn that allegience. If they had a proven track record, fine. If they were open and honest with their community, fine. Sadly, neither is true. People seem to be supporting what DF stands for, rather than the game itself. That's not a bad thing necessarily, but to be so arrogant and self-righteous about it is the wrong way to champion your cause.

0 leaks? Zero leaks? No leaks? I guess you are blind then Mister or just very poor at orienting yourself online despite the 10 year plus you've been active on the interwebs. Keep trying! Don't give up!
