Although i love to try out a little bit of everything when i first start a new game,
there is one class/archtype that i am drawn to instantaneously almost everytime.
The Bard.
Especially the ones formatted like Ragnarok.
Ballads of Death, Life, and everything in-between. From Increasing the attack speed of your allies, to increasing the exp gain in the area, these buff based classes always kept my attention.
I have always wanted to play D & D as a bard, but have yet to find a group of people that play/ would be willing to try it out. I really wish the Buff based classes would be more popular, but a lot of the MMOs i have seen only have hybrids.
So what's your favorite class?
Follow this format please:

I prefer a more flexible playstyle, so I play hybrids that can do damage, heal and take a kicking.
In WoW, I favour the Druid just because they're damned sexy.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
??????
oops >.< forgot to turn my japanese off.
anyways...nice, the druid was my favorite class in WoW
White Mage {Primary Healer, extremely weak overall} Red Mage {Secondary Healer, enfeebler/debuffer}
Love to sit back and play the spam-healer roll and watch others play and all the fury unfold! Love being the weak type overall and depending on others cause in actuality everyone depends on the healer to survive and succeed. Love the extreme difficulty and overall challenge, and believe it or not its not easy playing a healer as many think just sitting back there spamming heals, or so many of melee have made it seem from their view!
Sorcerer
You can launch fireballs. Pure magic. Pure power. No concesions. On a world with magic, do you want to be a petty sword guy? no, you want to be a powerfull magic user, behing.
Also, a sorcerer is a magic guy. A mage is something else, a mage studie magic, and need other tools to make magic. A mage don't really have magic, use magic from other stuff. Sorcerers really have magic on his blood.
Melee DPS...
unfortunately DPS has become overly popular in recent years.
EQ1- Necro
SWG- Bounty Hunter/Pistoleer (ranged DPS)
L2- Treasure Hunter
EQ2- Swashbuckler/monk
WoW- Sword Rogue
LOTRO- Champion
Vanguard- Ranger
WAR- Witch Hunter
Grymm
MMO addict in recovery!
EQ,SWG preCU,L2,EQ2,GW,CoH/CoV,V:SOH,
Aion,AoC,TR,WAR,EVE,BP,RIFT,WoW and others... no more!
I love crowd control classes, but seems like they are rarer in newer MMOs. If I can't find a good crowd control class in a game, I usually go for hybrid healers. Thankfully, LotRO has the Loremaster. It's the last of the newer MMOs to put in a crowd control-oriented class. When I picked mine up, a lot of people complained about how whimpy Loremasters were: no way! I found mine to be incredibly powerful when I used her tools properly, but I found it a bit frustrating to use her crowd control tools in groups since most people just wanted me to heal or damage. Very good class overall though, and I wish more games would make classes like the Loremaster and AO's Bureaucrat and Trader.
Games I've played crowd control in: CoH, LotRO, AO, EQ2.
Games I've played hybrids in: WoW though my main was a Warlock until recently, DAoC, WAR, EQ.
There are more but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
Back in EvE. Started with BatMUD. Main MMOs have been EvE and DAoC.
heavy armored dps. Although i did pick a Dark avenger for Lineage 2 (a tank class). I just like heavy armor tank and dps classes. More dps then tank though
Playing: EVE Online
Favorite MMOs: WoW, SWG Pre-cu, Lineage 2, UO, EQ, EVE online
Looking forward to: Archeage, Kingdom Under Fire 2

I can't be confined to one role so my choice is always a hybrid class if available.
Paladin or Shadowknight
Dutchess Zarraa Voltayre
Reborn/Zero Sum/Ancient Legacy/Jagged Legion/Feared/Nuke & Pave.
My favorite class or archetype would be the Hybrid melee/caster.
More specifically, I like to wear plate, carry a sword and shield, cast offensive spells to pull mobs into melee range; heal or life-tap to recover moderate amounts of health; and provide enchantments to myself to ward off damage or enchance my abilities and dmg.
MMORPG's w/ Max level characters: DAoC, SWG, & WoW
Currently Playing: WAR
Preferred Playstyle: Roleplay/adventurous, in a sandbox game.
Shadowknight - heavy armor tank with lifetaps
I always loved playing noncombat field support characters (not healers), think engineers, hackers, the utility side of thief archetype, etc. In D&D my favourite combo was always ranger/thief multiclass followed by mage/thief.
However I have yet to find an MMO where such characters exist and play a role. SGW seems to have potential that side of things, we will see.
Subscribtions: EVE, SWTOR WOW, WAR, DDO, VG, AOC, COV, FFXI, GW, RFO, Aion
+plenty of F2P, betas, trials
Female Dwarf player: WOW, VG, WAR, DDO
.
Due to the recent economic crisis and spending cuts the light at the end of the tunnel was turned off. Sincerely, God.
Wizards all the way with massive nukes!
Dragoons, Stylish different an oddity. The class almost no one played usually something just out there like the Dragoon was in 2004.
Pet Class.
Doesn't matter if it's Necromancy, Beast Mastery, or some kinda Summoning, so long as I can throw out a barrage of monsters and then sit back and cast, I'm fine.
To this day I still look back to the days of Dark Age of Camelot and the Berserker. It had medium armor and the option of either dial wield or just a massive two hander. Once you went berserk all the armor you had was reduced to nothing but you gained massive criticals and morphed into a half man half bear type of thing.
It played exactly as I wanted. Your defense was basically your ability to evade attacks or to parry with your weapons. Other then that, you were screwd! But to counteract that you could always get pissed off every 7 minutes and butcher a bunch of your enemies.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Healers, they get all the groups! Keeping a group alive in a pvp setting is a rush too.
Although my all time favorite played MMO character so far would have to of been my kobold warrior on DAOC. Little blue blocking machine.
Usually ranged DPS although of late I am leaning more towards a pet class. Need to find a good game with a good pet class.
Anarchy Online : Fixer
Guild Wars : Hammer warrior (with heroes in PVE or GvG) or Mesmer (in full player team PVE/PVP)
CoV : Mastermind
SWG : Smuggler
WAR : Black Orc
These are the most recent combat classes Ive played (apart from many less played alts). Cant wait untill a game like Earthrise is released, that doesnt have classes and just lets you train skills. I also prefer the hybrid classes in CoV and the flexibility of GW professions over rigid classes like in LOTRO/SWG. Im really bored with the holy trinity setup.
Something with a wide variety of tools to counter what particular other mobs may try to do, so that I'm not constantly approaching every battle in the same way. The mesmer class in Guild Wars does this, but I'm not aware of any class in any other game that is remotely analogous.
well, i am prone to healers but i have played some awesome Wizards in the past.
overall i have had more healers then Wizards as some games just fail at making spellcasters.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
Rogue all the way.
It's not just the high melee DPS, I love stealth. I love the feeling you get just before you attack someone ... when you know you got them right under their noses. When I get that feeling ... I can go on forever playing rogue and never get bored. I've spent much more time with the rogue at slower pacing because in WoW I used to solo instances.
I don't mind ranged DPS (mage or warlock, usually mage), but rogue is a lot better IMO.
In Star Wars Galaxies I went with commando/smuggler - I had a lot on my hands just with all the skills I learned. It was good, but I wished pre-CU had stealth for smugglers.
Pyro from TF2
But in mmo terms I played hunter in WoW (preBC) yet in City of Villains I was a Stalker. Though generally I am comfortable playing RDPS.
To Each His Own.
I go with a shapeshifter or a pet class. So druid, hunter/ranger or necro/demo type.
Love having minions and love turning into a vicious beast and shredding face.
My Reaver/Healer on Horizons was the funnest I have ever played. That cat did some serious tanking. More mmo should have some type of "vampire" class.
