Yes, and the public was lied to in that beta as well...It's another thing to worry about.
But I feel now is a time to move on from this doom and gloom bullshit. Sure they can screw up, but if they do it's all on their shoulders now. I'm glad that things are starting to come out of the wood-work, it's a stupid pity that it took this long though.
And yes, the thought of Aventurine having my credit-card is a little scary...But I don't know, maybe their idea of PR, is a child's idea of religion.

Sigh. Talk shit about their PR after they have your money, before it is a moot point. ESP when they are not advertising their game.................................
God.. seems the game is still in the middle of beta.
that's because it is.
nothing wrong with that, unless they release it in a beta state.
Thought the game was about to be released, only infraestructure being a problem
well, seeing as there is still a super-tight NDA attached to the game, and according to "Official" Updates, they are just now turning on a majority of the game features, I'd venture to say it's still in the middle of Beta.
the featurs they just turned on will need to be thoroughly tested, and I doubt that less-than-a-month is sufficient time to test and correct everything that will need to be.

There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Actually they said the current client is the European release candidate. There's just so much to do. I doubt they are going to be able to do it in time for release. But I still think it's going to be a great game. Defiantly the most successful indy developed game ever.
I believe they said that there would only be one release client so when north America comes live you would just change servers you will still have access to EU servers if you decide to stay on them so the client is location neutral. I will give hime props for finally giving out some info as to the state of the test. Let's hope they continue to be more forthcoming.
Thought the game was about to be released, only infraestructure being a problem
Feature-complete, and feature-tested...Are two different subjects, but whatever, Everquest-boy.
I do, however, disagree with them only leaving one month to beta-test this game. It's a risky move, but from what I'm reading from "most" (all but one) beta testers(), the game's good, so far.
So it's really up to Aventurine, if they play it stupid and shoot themself in the foot, let them. But at least try to be happy...Things are actually starting to look better.
Then again look at all the beta testers who said AoC was awesome. Sure there were some negative leaks but thet were always shot down as BS... That was another game that started testing features at the very end of beta as well.
Yes AOC was awesome...for the first 20 levels, then it was all downhill from there. I don't know that the beta testers had a chance to make an accurate assessement. Only time will tell with Darkfall.
Didn' t Tasos once post that Darkfall was a completely done game and was ready for release back in 12/05/08? I could have sworn I read it then. Hmmm....weird.
Yeah I'm not giving Aventurines by credit card details. I'm giving them checking account info from an account from Bank of America that requires no minimal balance. It's my "sketchy transactions" account

I didn't mention "feature-complete". Read posts more carefully next time? Good boy.
As soon as we're out of debug, the stress test is over, we'll lift the NDA.
Does anyone know how long it usually takes for this 'Debug' mode? I haven't been in any betas, so I don't know. I'm just curious how long this part will take, before the NDA is lifted and we can hear first hand from people who have been testing it.
It all depends on the game. Each game will have a different time spent in debug, some will lose it after closed beta and some will keep it upto release.
If testers can find a majority of the bugs and the devs can squash what they feel is an acceptable amount thats when debug is usually over.

I remember cocky Tasos claiming 1 month ago the game was 99% ready and in a better state than most mmorpg in the market. Oh well, i wish em luck testing these features and fixing them in less than 1 month. No way this game is releasing february.
Well, they might have reach such a build where most features if not all were relatively stable but then they found ways or even re-thought some features which can lead to some other features being affected.
For what I've seen, read and experienced since almost the beginning of MMO's Aventurine is developing their game in an unique structure which is probaly why they've tested most in-house except some hardware testing since that will require alot of different setups given that Darkfall will run on most rigs, aswell as stress-test.
Gonna try and find some sites that couldn't care less about NDAs with some real news.
It'd be nice to have a piratebayish gaming press that didn't suckle industry teet.
Edit:
There is one decent leak site out there with some info on DF, a couple screen shots too. Most of the leakers are doing it to "defend" the game they say, so it's biased but it's info.
Underwater monters Woot . No longer swim accrosss and nothing happens River stream will push you downstream seems intelligent and realistic Personal taunts from monster /LOL Good update now only if we had a teaser to see if these things are not just test but actually happening in the game
They act like adding stream movement, monster taunts, and underwater monsters is no big deal. That coding can be done and functional in a matter of a day.
I have followed this game longer than most of the fanboys on this site and I can honestly say that you would have to be a complete moron to believe this dribble that Tasos is spitting out right now. It's absurd. It's the same nonsense we read during Dark and Light, but even they didn't boast 1/2 of what Aventurine has.
Forums had been down due to several DDOS attacks. Since it became an issue, we took the forums down and have taken all appropriate measures to make a recurrence less likely. The game servers have not been affected. The trial faced some issues during the initial stress test when the volume of the invitees taxed the patching and the login system. This was to be expected and it's the nature of a stress test. Testers experienced periodic low download speeds and various minor errors and hiccups which were soon dealt with. We increased our patching capacity and corrected small errors, until everything was running smoothly. For launch we will have in place a peer to peer system which should greatly improve download speeds and make the downloading and patching run smoothly. There have been a couple of server crashes since we’re still running in debug mode. The issues causing the crashes have been addressed and we have issued a few new patches in this time. Servers are currently down for scheduled maintenance for a few hours tonight, during which we are also running an internal stress test. Servers will be up again right after this. So far there have been three waves of invites sent out and these proved to be a very good stress test for the download, patching and login systems. We would like to thank the testers for their persistence during this initial stress test and their patience while we corrected the issues that came up. Most players entered the game, and have been playing since yesterday. Now that things have stabilized, we’ll start sending out more invites. We will keep sending invites out, every day when possible, and until we hit our capacity. The NDA is still in effect, because this remains a testing period. Even though this is the release candidate client, previews based on this experience may not be indicative of the release quality of the game, especially not while you're consciously trying to break the game during stress testing. The game is still in debug mode so that we can deal with any issues that arise. Other than that, we are trying to simulate the launch, in order to better prepare for it. The testers in-game so far have been sending us very positive reports on their gameplay experience, even so, the NDA will be in effect while there's still testing going on. As soon as we're out of debug, the stress test is over, we'll lift the NDA. If you haven’t received an invite yet please don’t take it personally. You very well might receive one soon. Please respect the invite process; it was made to be as fair as possible, while also being the most helpful for the game. We appreciate everything the community has done for the game and while we regret that we can’t make everyone happy, it’s impossible when considering the large volume of the applications. Even so, there will be a great number of players allowed to playtest the game. We really understand the impatience, and we’re doing our best to get as many in as possible in the game. Please do not try to bypass the invitation process by emailing or PMing us. We’re afraid that it’s not possible to do so. This is an automated procedure, and we could not possibly manually process all the messages we’re getting at this stage. As far as the latest major patch goes, these are just some of the updates included: * The interface has been completely reworked and re-skinned.
* Camera modes have been updated. You can now use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
* Warhulk movement has been enhanced. You can cycle camera modes using F12
* Mount controls have been tweaked
* Rivers will now carry you downstream.
* All character attributes have been enabled and they display signals when they increase.
* NPC animations have been updated
* Rune Stones (recall stones) have been enabled.
* You can buy more slots for starter weapons at a vendor.
* Directional attacks for all melee weapons have been added. You can slice vertically or horizontally.
* Player Journal and Clan Window have been updated.
* High score quests have been enabled.
* Time limit high score quests are enabled
* Massive AI update: Many more monsters have been added.
* AI behavior has received a significant update.
* Wildlife has been enabled. Tigers, bears, lions etc. can be found in nature.
* Underwater monsters are now enabled.
* Dungeon monsters are now enabled.
* Monsters will now visibly taunt you
* Roaming monster packs are enabled.
* Some monsters will send you personal taunts.
* Environment system is fully enabled. Ambience and weather will now change over time and as you travel. One Darkfall day is now approximately 5 hours long.
* In-game help has been enabled.
* Updates to armor graphics.
* Character creator has been updated.
* More player skills have been added.
* Clan cities that belong to your clan have been updated to display on your world and mini map.
There were also numerous smaller fixes and updates included in this patch and in the subsequent few smaller patches. We’ll follow up with more status reports on the game, and various other updates as needed.

In case of Darkfall , there is nothing
I was simply stating that updates on paper seems good too bad there is no supporting evidence to prove it

I can assure you that the "dribble" is real. All that he said is in, and it works.
I must admit I'm very surprised. Looks as thought things are slowly ... but surely coming together. If they manage to release succesfully, I just hope other developers don't think they can treat their community in the same way. I get so disheartened when I see people say "It doesn't matter what they say, as long as the game is awesome."

For the first time I think I'm actually excited about this game.
This could be the next "pre-CU" game that I'm really looking for. Too bad it's medieval; but it already made that up with FPS element of the game.
Very cool stuff. Looking forward to seeing how they handle the next month. It is going to be a crazy 30 days for them.

The only thing thats changed with the latest update is people are now refering to the game as queueFall.
