To Free League, or Not To Free League: that is the question

chmyerchmyer Member Posts: 25

Does anyone ever check where they are in the Free League Rankings on the Atlantica Site?

I went on a good run the other night and now find myself in Div 14 (I'm level 44, about to go get a Beast Trainer).  I checked the Free League Rankings and noticed that everyone else in Div 14 (for the most part) is level 55+, many 60+.  It looks like there's only a handful of 40-50 players.

So should I give up on the Free League until I level up or should I take my inevitable beatdowns, drop down a few divisions and continue this up and down process for a while?

I really enjoy Free League so I'll likely sign up and try and learn from experiences.  The sooner I get knocked down the sooner I'll be back to winning and getting those coins shards I so enjoy.

Curious to hear your thoughts.

Having played Free League up to rank 8 (floating between 8 and 9), you will always win some and lose some.  So my advice is to do Free League if you enjoy it, and don't if you don't.  Rank 10 is where I think the rewards get really good; 5 10k exp books and 120k worth of coins for a win. (I personally like the 10k books more than the gold; they are invaluable in levelling new mercs)

continue the up and down process and learn from your opponents while not neglecting to level up.

also, make sure that you have used up all your bonus points with growth vials. the random statboost they give is a helluva boost.

then upgrade your armor as always. :)

What server are you on? I was doing it the other day, when I was in my mid 40s, and I mostly fought 30-somethings in div 14 (felt guilty about it, then I fought a guy in his 60s). I ended up in 13 when it was over.

if you enjoy it, minus the ocasional beatdown then do it! you'll learn a lot which will make you better in the higher level pvp

Thebes.  But I noticed very similar levels for Div 14 on the other servers as well.

That's the only reason i play FL , ofc it's also fun to play it but i wouldn't play it if i didn't get those books.

Won a 100k book today, to bad my 45 prophet can't use it.

I really enjoyed playing in the free leagues...You can see the different builds of users in Atlantica Online. I am currently in division 11 and my record is 194 and 238 losses...yeah I am proud of my losing record..lol..

    Ah, I'm on Thebes, too.

    Oooh, I'm ranked 2146 (Vonradir).

Honestly though, I think a lot of the higher levels are because people just haven't played Free League for a while, and thus their rank ha stayed low. Or maybe just when I did it, there weren't many high levels online (like I said, I fought one guy higher than the 40s, when I last did it).

i guess the FL will help you improve your line up. the more you lose, the better you should fix your mercs. well and it also trains you for future pvp clashes, even in situations when someone PK's you.^^ its really a big help...and i love having copper coins.^^

i also love the free league even though many times i've been knockdown but  still i love to apply there not  just because of exp but  also the coin shards too cause you can sell it on a higher price as time goes by

When did you all start playing FL? I've not tried it yet. My main is mid-20s and I;'m thinking of trying it soon.

It depends, if you don't care about your stats and just want to be good in the free league you could join it everyday. If you want to have fun I also suggest join it. If you're concerned about your stats level up a bit before joining to make sure your level matches your opponents. Anyway even the underdog can prevail in the free league because it's pure strategy. You can practice challenging other players way above your level. As your level grows you get more new mercenary so that a different set of strategy so keep on practicing while you level up.
