Anyone have a link that would point me in the right direction of this build?  I am fininshing my 14 day trial, and would like to tailor my skill training and ship builds towards this direction, from ground up.  Thanks!

Best advice I can give, if you don't already have it, get EveMon from this link:

Once you have created a skill plan go to the Ship Browser tab and select a ship from the list at the left.  Then click on the "Battleclinic Loadouts" link and pick a loadout that is tailored for PvP.  Click "View Loadout" to see the specific modules used for that loadout and, if you like it, click on "Add To Plan" and it will update your skill plan with the skills you need to fly the ship you've selected.

Evemon taught me stuff in 15 minutes that would take hours if not days of forum browsing to achieve. They should included this little gem with the game because it's a must have.

Best advice I've got is to read through the forums: http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp and you'll find a wealth of useful (and useless!) information.  Based on your question I'd advise joining Faction Warfare, more specifically, a Faction Warfare Corp. that takes in newer players - that you are beyond the trial is a plus in getting into a corp.

This way you can learn the basics of PvP (yes yes you silly vets, I know FW isn't all that - but it's a start), learning to fly in fleets/gangs and maybe even the occasional solo romp once you are more comfortable.  All the while reading and researching and asking questions about which direction your skill planning should head.

PvP Combat in Eve has many many different roles.  From Tacklers to DPS'ers to Electronic Warfare'ers to Hit'n'Run Stealth'ers, etc etc and so on.  Lots of ways to go, best bet is to join a corp - do some fleet ops - and learn along the way which playstyle you like best.

I agree with the above post about joining FW, it is an easy way fo trying out PVP early in the game....

as for the specific 'bounty hunter' / 'pirate killer' idea these areas also have many different areas, but again to be successful in eve as someone may of said before, you need to be in a good corp, as solo play is hard to start..

best way for a newer player to learn pvp is join a Faction Warfare corp, not the npc one, but a player made FW corp, although some may argue that the pvp here isnt that good, I think it is a good way to find out about the basics of pvp fighting..

as I say to all new players who wish to pvp, be prepared to lose ya ships, and don't fly anything you cannot afford to replace (although that to start with you may get help from the player corp, if you only flying frigates and cruisers)

Good luck whatever you decide to do

shhh... you might wake the trolls
