This is a darkfall forum section on a non-Darkfall site. So don't tell people what they should/shouldn't, can/can't post unless it breaks this sites' rules ( hmmm, don't see "full loot discussion" listed in the RoC ).
As far as the analogy of UO, if full loot and PKing was that popular, Trammel wouldn't exist.
According to a few of the fans here Trammel happened due to player housing and not because the majority of the populace at the time was sick of gankers and rofltards. All the posts on the forums asking for non-pvp server rulesets back in the day never happened....
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

PKing was popular, very popular, which is why people cried about not having a carebear world to play on. They couldn't take losing even 15 minutes worth of items.
As for Trammel happening, part of it was due to player housing. For every post on the old UO forums about non-pvp rulesets there was one with somebody crying that there wasn't anymore land to build houses. The devs listened to both groups and thus Trammel. Trammel however does not prove that full loot and open PvP doesn't work. If it did, UO would have grown more with that expansion than they had with their previous one; which it didn't.
Full loot is not dumb, what is dumb is full crap loot.
Loot has monetary value.
Loot has low impact on determining battles.
Make more sense?
No. No it does not make sense. Because generally, things that have "low impact on determining battles" in a PvP game would have low value. So where are the R-tards that are paying premo prices for crap gear? Even DF won't be so blessed.
I don't see a need for paying premium pricing on any gear. All gear is craftable and most likely everyone will have a few sets in the bank in case they get looted. If you've ever played UO you may be familiar with the concept of full loot.
When was the last time you played UO with full loot? A lot of time between then and now can make us remember things as better than they were.
That said. I'm not against full loot. I think EvE is great (yes its different, I know).
The last time I played UO was a couple of years ago. Re-upped for a few months, had a fine time, but it was way behind the times, so I let the subscription lapse.
That said, I think you may be stuck thinking about loot like you would with just about any other MMORPG on the market today, where items take forever to get and are are essential to your characters performance.
In UO (and presumably Darkfall Online) gear is cheap, plentiful and barely effects your skills. Hell in UO, I used to walk around in the bone armor, because pieces of it dropped from skeletons and it was nearly as good as platemail.
I think the point people are trying to make is... if gear is meaningless to lose, who cares if you get to loot it from someone when they die?
Dont bother explaining DF to these carebears....look at these guys Wow and Everquest nuthuggers.
There are about 350k people on the DF forums that understand what DF is and want to play it, more will show up at launch...its a niche game obviously but plenty want to play it
If you people dont understand the features and mechanics of the game, and just spout of illogical bs then there is no room for you in this game
The WOW forum is on bottom left of the screen
Must be nice to live in a dreamworld.
This argument about loot is totally logical and only a blind sycophantic fawnboi won't understand.
If loot is worthless then why loot and therefore by extension of a LOGICAL argument why even have full loot?
This is as stupid as thinking that there won't be "levels" in the game. Call skill levels what you want they still make someone better then someone else therefore on a different level of game ability.
Keep dreaming fawnbois, hope a few thousand can keep your beloved game afloat.....fat f'n chance of that.
Who's saying loot is worthless besides you? Obviously the OP is trying to say loot isn't critical to the survival of your character, but is definitely worth something.
Read the FAQ's and the forums. It is stated many times that "loot doesn't matter" hell the fawnbois always state that on here. So if loot doesn't matter then it is worthless and why the hell would you want to loot it?
It really boggles the mind how stupid and blind the obsessed fawnbois are.
With the exception to lineage2 I mostly played PVE games, but i am interested(not a fanboi) in this game because of what it's offering. yet I understand what the OP is saying. It seems YOU DONT GET IT!
Let me try to explain:
The gear you wear does not define the success of your character. It may be worth something because of the way it looks or provides a cosmetic difference that is unique, or maybe your just attached to it because you've been wearing it for so long, or mostly because of the hassle of having to go re-equip yourself. At any rate, if you get looted your character won't be gimped because your breastplate had some outrageous uber magical properties because the strength of your character is built on his skill and your own twitch prowess. However if you forgot to take a trip to the bank lately and you dropped some mats or gold or potions that were valuable now you have lost something of value and the guy who scored the PK just hit a jackpot.
Sounds exciting and fun to me (it they deliver),. But I guess in your mind everyone who isn't a troll like yourself must be a Fanboi.

Well, you can make decent money doing it.
