Nice system MMORPG.com has on hyping games like this. Problems is people are abusing by underrating or overating. Not to mention ppl seems to change their rating all the time.. ohwell anyway.
Logically and IMO, I came to this conclusion : We can see how hyped the MMORPG.com community is about different games, by looking at the numbers of threads in the general forum for each games. You know.. the more threads there is on a specific game, the more the community is interested in the game; I think it's obivious. Ohwell this is my opinion, anyone agree this could reflect more accuratly on the actual hype?
*EDIT* OMG This thread has degenerated on a EQ2vsWoW thread on the FIRST reply, if you wanna trash on THAT, GO OVER ANOTHER THREAD. This thread is about HYPING games, .... omg I can't belive that... this is pissing me off

I tend to think the WoW fanbois like to spam boards more because they have to psyche themselves more that the game is really not boring after breezing through it and then finding out that there is no meaningful High end content. So they come to forums and spam/troll how EQ2 is so sucky instead of saying how WoW is so great. If WoW is so great why aren't these beta players acutally playing the game instead of trolling the forums with 1000+ posts?
If WoW is really that great and deserves all the hype, then it should stand on its own merits, not on another game sucking or failing.
The biggest thing keeping me away from WoW is all of the phat l00t, L33t freaks I see on the boards. Something about the majority of the WoW fans that drives me absolutely insane. I already know I won't be able to play with them because all of my gear will just be Sux0rs next to theirs and I really am too n00b to even be grouped with them so I had better not screw things up when they charge something stupid and get everyone killed. lol, that is the impression I have gotten from the WoW fans on all of their boards. And for them to be so anxious about this game and then turn into a bloody lynch mob once Blizzard delayed their precious open beta. It's just a crazy fan base to me.
Note, I did say MAJORITY. Not all. And the majority would be like...60%. I am well aware that there are very sane and normal people who are excited about WoW. I'm also looking forward to what WoW has to offer, and will be signing up for the open beta the same day I buy EQ2. But man...some of them kids is jus fr33ks!

4. Matrix - 72
5. MU online - 70

You're worried about loot and you're going to get EQ2? Must be a masochist?
Well, I guess I need to make 1500 posts about Darkfall so it can be made number 1 .

I don't care about who hypes what doll slaughtering house anyway as long as they keep minding their own business in their own territory.
Here is my personal game ranking:
1. Meridian 59 - Nothing like the first one.
2. Guild Wars - Nothing beats innovation and aggressive attempt trying to reach the masses.
3. Lineage 2 - Nothing beats the "Number" and user hardcoreness, Asian profanity or no, I don't give a shiit!
4. WoW - Nothing beats franchise uphauled by American mass media and the support group.
It's like..IN WHAT WAY IS THIS REPLY LINKED TO THE ORIGINAL POST. I mean WTF, I make a post about MMORPG.com Hyping system and EQ2 fanboys jump on the occasion to cry. no wait? oh I SEE THeir game is NOT on top. I betcha 1000$ that guy would not have made this reply is EQ2 would have had 2000, instend of 900. SO, PLEASE STICK TO THE ORIGINAL THREAD, you guys are pissing me off so bad.
Gotta like how I turn out being a fanboy because my avatar is a WoW character.
Games Played:DoAC, EQ, CoH, Lineage 2, Planetside, and Shadowbane.
Games Playing:None:(
Waiting For:WoW, EQII
And this children, shows what happens when one of the moderators of a former unbiased site has stated his support of one game only, and defend those on "his" side, and even flame the opposite side, or those not agreeing with him, himself. Solid work, Enigma...
Now.. Can MMORPG get moderators that do nto care what game is popular at the moment, and is ready to stop ALL flamers and trolls, so that people do not think "their" abuse is safe. I really love to see threads deleted ONLY if they are against EQ II, but any thread defending it can be as nasty as it wants... So now we have this....
A year ago, this was a good place.. Enigma goes moderator.. and it falls apart in weeks.
Only game I wait for right now: Imperator.
Go Mythic!

To me, I don't even look at those hypres, or those posts for that matter. Most likely, people who hype those games are either lovers or haters, just because they are playing another game. Which is oddly stupid because those people maybe havn't even tried those games. Like my friend, for an example, he gave EQ2 a 1 JUST because of a past experience (he hates EQ1)and he's never even played EQ2.

MMORPG.com is honest about the game ratings on this site. They come right out at the beginning and call them HYPE ratings.
Because that is all that they are. There are no statistical backings for the ratings stated on this web site. If you want a site that lists the popularity of a game based on the number of threads, create it. But then that would have no more statistical basis for accuracy as the system MMORPG.com has chosen.
Actually, your method of determining hype is even more open to abuse than what has been chosen on this site.
The word 'hype' is a derivative of the word 'hyperbole' Below is the definition of hyperbole as given in my 34 year old American Heritage Dictionary.
hyperbole, noun. An exaggeration or extravagant statement used as a figure of speech: for example. I could sleep for a year. Runescape is the greatest mmorpg that will ever exist.
Hype is just that, hype. It has nothing to do with reality. There is no logic where hype is concerned.

1. Unless you had a different alias. You weren't here a year ago. I on the other hand was, and I can tell you its not because Enigma. Its the influx of rather idiotic people.
An example would be as the site grows, more villages are added. And thus each villages gots to have its idiot.
2. This sounds more like a personal vendetta. You got a problem with En1gma. Take it up in private. Don't flaunter this vendetta trash against a mod on the boards. Talk to En1gma about it, other mods, and Admin.
