I watched AoC since it was announced but I didn't buy it at launch since in my expierience mmo's right out the gate are terrible. Now I am thinking of buying but I'd like to try it first. Is there any chance of a free trial in the future or will I have to look for a friend who has it?

there is a 'buddykey' thread stickied at the top of these forums, or just wait for AoC's 1st expansion they may follow the model of there other game and make it free2play without expansion, sub for the xpac content..
The way I see it is that there are a few options:
1. See if you can get your hands on a buddy key but to DL the client officially is $2.99
2. Buy the game cheap there are lots of places that have offers where you can buy the game with the 30 days included in for under the cost of the price to actually sub per month.
3. Wait it out for a while longer and within the next short while information about the trial should appear - it is currently unknown really whether it will be some form of winback promo for past subs or an inclusive offer for new customers.
Here is a bit from the last financial report about plans:
As you can see from there the expansion is a long time coming and quite a ways off.
If you plan on playing on the american servers i can send you a buddy, just send me a pm and i'll be glad to help.
I don't know how long the trial lasts though, probably enough for you to make make your mind up about the game.

Is it possible after i buy the game to play 30 days without giving your credit card data or using a gamecard? Just that you can test 30 days and then use a gamecard or else if you want to play longer..?

Wow that is a great model! Where did you get it?
So I guess their only free trial offer is the buddy keys for now.

I would love to get a buddy key but I recently found out that my PC might not support the game. I dunno I might be wrong (and hopefully I am). It would really be terrible if I find the one game I can enjoy and it won't work on my computer.

I think you have to use your credit card number to get the bonus. At least I had to do it back in May last year. Or you can go download and play WoW for 10 days free, the best MMO to this date (some level up restrictions) without putting in any credit card information. www.trywarcraft.com/
Update I just tried a specs analyzer site and it said I can indeed run AoC. I will definitely looking into purchasing it now.

So, according to that graphic, one could expect a Trial to come out this quarter?
Or did my last marble roll out of my ear?

haha! one would expect it I think.
Well on Feb 23rd I think FC will be releasing more notes on this quarter and further info regarding the trials.
My guess is they want DX10 + the 3 dungeons on test server out and they may wait till after the following patch is out which would put the trials around urrm maybe sometime in March I reckon + April 12th is Easter although thats Q2 terrority I believe.
(All pure guess)

Okies, Thanks for the response.
I, for one, refuse to buy a P2P without getting to try it first. To me, that should be one of the top priorities before launch.
I think EQ2 had it right with the way they did the original trial, it really didn't allow the onslaught of "spam for services".
Anywho, thanks again.
