I know Mines of Moria was voted best expansion 2009 ,here and on several other places.
But you really have to see it to believe it.
Mines of Moria simply looks like nothing ever done before in RPG and certanly not in MMO. That is something we read a lot in reviews , but what is not written is that Turbine added or redone many other areas in the game. Yesterday i stumbled upon a new area in Old Forest. Spider infested place covered with webs. It looked so real and creepy , i couldnt close my gaping mouth
If this is what Turbine designers can do , now they have experience with LOTRO engine.
Than we are really going to see amazing stuff in future!

Agreed! I mean even though I currently am only level 10 I love the detail to environment!
Uhh... what?
All Middle earth is simply breathtaking. Even more so in DX 10. Though on my machine it kills my FPS ...
Big Thumbs up to Turbine on that one!
My 3.7Ghz Core 2 Quad w/8 gigs of memory and a factory overclocked Geforce 260GTX on Vista 64bit eats LOTRO raw at max. settings and spits out jawdropping DX10 rendered scenes at 40-85fps.
It's truly stunning to behold. The shadows are unreal. The view distance extreme. Textures are razor sharp. Can't wait to see Moria, although that'll take some time before I get there since I'm messing with several characters at the same time. 24 captain, 21 hunter, 14 warden. Really starting to like the captain, but the warden is sweet as well and I would like to try the minstrel on top of that. Oh well... so much to try, not enough time

Regarding re-designing old content, one thing I noticed right after Moria went live was how they took care to make a few obscure quests more easy to solve (without dumbing anything down); had a quest in Forochel where the description was simply too vauge, but after Moria went live quest description was now worded differently, making it actually possible to locate the specific location I was looking for, very nice
Check out NW evendim, past the spires.

I have to agree, the Mines are extraordinary. The visuals actually convey the vastness of them. Simply amazing.

You're right. It's overkil. You certainly won't need 8 gigs for LotRO. 4 gigs will do fine even on memory hungry Windows Vista.
However, I multitask a lot (same reason I got a quad core CPU instead of a dual core). Things like playing 4 EVE premium clients at the same time. Or LotRO and EVE at the same time. Even tried WoW and 2 EVE clients. Plus Excel, Outlook, 20+ pages open in Firefox and tons of little utilities such as Evemon, Evemeep etc. It all adds up pretty fast. I also play Flight Simulator X with tons of addons and high res scenery/textures as well.
Yes, 8 gigs is a bit overkill even for that, but 4 was borderline (one of the sticks was damaged in transit, so I had to run 4 gigs for a while). I know from experience that if something is borderline today, it's insufficient tomorrow. Besides, RAM (at least DDR2) is pretty darn cheap right now and I would like the CPU/RAM to last for at least 2 years with an expected mid-life graphics card upgrade since this is where technology is really moving.

One thing Turbine has always been good at is environments. From AC to AC2 to LoTRO, their environments are always awesome visually. I wonder is Sean still works for them?
I love the Trollshaws myself. Reminds me of the Blue Ridge mountains. Evendim is a close second as a favorite. Of course the Shire will always be special. The whole damn game is well designed and each area has it's own mood. Turbine did a great job in the design all the way around.
I miss DAoC
