Hey, I'm wondering if anyone who's had a chance to play this could let me know how it is? I've been kinda interested in this on and off for a few years. Just wanted to see if it's as good as I thought.

Well if the publisher's don't get their fingers outa their ****** it's not going to get too far.
The so called 'EU' version which I manage to get myself into is deserted. By the time everyone else gets to play the proper version it'll be too late I feel!
To my mind it is one of the best fantasy-mmorpgs ever. I have no idea why it is deserted on EU-international servers. Might have to do with some IP-blocking.
But perhaps players still rather want to play cookie-cutter fantasy-mmorps with dwarves and elves, raiding and classic crafting. Also on one hand it's perhaps not really a game for heavy hardcore players due to limited content, on the other hand it might be too complex for extremely casual players.
Nevertheless if someone who loves this genre doesn't try the freetoplay starter area then he makes a big mistake. You really should take a look even if you decide on another game. Why? Besides from the artfull world the combat system is somewhat revolutionary and will definitely influence forthcoming titles from bigger companies.
I'd like to try it out, where can I get into this free to play starter area?

Anyone can play it: Use Gingerproxy to signup and verify email - and put your country as Germany.
The game is only available in certain European countries (sorry don't have the detailed list here.) All other countries/theaters have to wait till sometime in Q1 2009 for the game to launch. I would keep checking this site and the Acclaim Spellborn site for news...
Edit: ssnautilis and I must have posted at the same time. I guess I will still say if you are outside the official launch countries you should wait, but that's IMHO
