I have been very interested in this game. I was a huge WoW fan, I loved the game...but its all old to me now, I am just wondering if this game is worth its salt. I am not trying to start a flame war, I am just looking for a new MMO and since it doesnt have a trial I have to go by opinions of others, unless someone is nice enough to give me a Buddy Pass... However my internet is slow and it will take me eons to download, but if its good, and i get a free trial? why not . Thank you in advance for the opinions!

I played this game in beta and it was ok. I liked the public quests and the way PVP is setup it runs pretty stable didn't seem to need a top of the line system to run it and still look good.
The crafting is a bit on the weak side I thought and a lot like WOW in the way you get your Mats.
I was thinking of buying a copy myself after I hit 80 in WOW Im totally bored and missed War but then I read about the client side hacks that have people running around at ultra fast speeds and jumping 100 feet into the air.
Maybe after they get the hacks patched up I'll take another look
Haven't experienced any hacking personally, so it seems to either be exceedingly rare or stamped out very quickly. This game is awesome both PvP and PvE, I feel, but you should be aware that there are some issues with fortress sieges in tier 4, as the large amount of players congregrating there result in zone crashes fairly often. Character movement and ability use should feel very familiar to you from WoW. I used to play WoW myself prior to WAR. WAR is much more PvP-focused than WoW, however, and the various areas of the gameworld aren't connected as seamlessly. Though I suspect this might be necessary for handling hundreds of players fighting each other in the same zones without crashing them. One of the greatest things in WAR is the massive amounts of classes - 22 currently, with 2 more arriving in March.
I've been playing since the early start on Karak Hirn. I really like the game and its moved a great deal from the way it was. At first it was plagued by crashes to desktop and other bugs, but these have entirely dissapeared now. Crafting is weak as the poster above mentioned, but I do like talisman making. Lucky for me, because I detest apothocary and cultivating.
The Rvr is fun, the lvl 40 dungeons are fun but easy. They are all 6 man groups and after a couple of weeks you can have them on farm status, which is surprisingly a good thing because the focus of the game is the group pvp (rvr). One or two hours in dungeons a week is all you need to do to keep up with the latest gear and the rest of the time you are doing Rvr.
I would say now is a good time to rejoin the game. The last two careers have been announced and will soon be in the game. Also a big patch is imminent to improve the rvr. Its based upon defending keeps and objectives, rather than fast assaults and capping.

im having a blast with WAR, i suggest you give it a try and see for youself.
He that lives upon Hope dies farting.
Worth playing? Glad I never stopped. Sure it was buggy at first and RVR was slow, but I stuck it out and they made some nice changes.
I always read people playing , leaving then coming back later. I don't have the time for that lol. By the time they come back i'm at about their Characters ranks anyway. I'm so casual now, if I took 2 months off to come back i'd only have T1 toons..
Its cool people left for me to catch up
I played for a few months and eventually left back in November, but I definitely give the game a try if I were you.
I suggest you wait a couple of months! The game is a little broken at the moment The fortress thing... the whole endgame needs to be worked out first!!
i hope they make a more rvr oriented endgame. And i hope the fixes in the rvr don't mess the game up, i love it atm. i don't give a crap if it changes or not.
but crafting does stink, and its real pointless to most of the game.
i think that the game is worth playing they have been doing a good job with the game since it came out last year with the two classes they have added and all the patches they have implemented. look at their website at all the stuff they have planned out for the next few months its pretty encouraging. the game is going in the right direction it still needs to be fixed up a little, especaially the end game but i do think it is worth the purchase
The game is a lot of fun. Personally, the graphics are more in line with what I like to see in a game. It runs really smooth on my laptop and the control/keypress configuration makes a lot of sense OOTB and you can still re-configure if you like.
This is an RvR game. If you are looking for PvE, you'll find it, but less developed than other games. I play WAR for my RvR fix and LOTRO for my PvE fix.
For immersion value, the models are very developed. Put a WoW character side-by-side with a WAR character and the WoW character looks like some "got to close to Three-Mile Island" mutation of <insert your favorite Disney character here>. When I battle, I want to battle with something that ACTUALLY looks like it can hurt me.
If DAoC history is any indication, WAR will develop slowly, but over time it will evolve into a great game. I'm looking forward to seeing what Mythic does with it.
If you're sick of WoW you won't find anything new here. This game has been heavily critized as a clone, with more bugs.
There are WoWish features, but I don't find it to be a WoW Clone.
LotRO, AoC, WAR...they all are different from WoW. They all do different things well. I've really enjoyed AoC and WAR recently. It's all just a matter of opinion.

Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!

I play WAR and LOTRO for very different reasons -- WAR to satisfy my RvR and LOTRO for PvE. Now if I can find a decent PvP game, I'll be complete.
I really like the game, this game is for you if you don't care about crafting and like RvR.
Been playing since the launch and have 2 rank 40 chars and 1 deleted rank 40 destruction char
i have signed again after 8 months. tier 4 is rly fun at present. aliance RvR every day.
Say what ? O_o
To be honest dude its not worth the time, i tried it after coming back from lotro and it was really disappionting dispite the high hype lvl it had and tbh i was really hyped about it... i guess i was just another who was let down. dont let me judge though go buy it and play it for yourself it needs more people, but then again would u wanna waste a good $25?
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
Your are wrong here. One of the best new things WAR introduces are the PQs and I would not be supprising if they will become standard in the MMO world. Shamefully the contribution system needs a fix, but the PQs are well balanced and really enjoyable.
From what I have seen from the raids. They are fun, you do them with a relitive small group and give good rewards. While I agree, if you go just for PvE you have a better change of liking Lotro and you might want to check back in an other 6 months when the call to arms stuff have been implented.
But if you are looking for a decent PvP/RvR expiriance then WAR would be a nice choice. You can do RvR from level 1 onwards. Infact you do not have to do any PvE (Although you be getting bored if you only do PvP and the leveling would not go as fast) if you do not want to.
I believe the game to be casual friendly. Instances can take from 40 minutes (If you take one tunnel in the instance) up to 1 hours and 30 minutes (If you take all three). You can jump into Open RvR whenever you and still level or you could just jump in an do a few mission. Gear is importend, but most of the most usefull sets can be gained from both RvR and PvE (Differant sets, but pretty much the same stats)
If you like an MMORPG where you dont have to grind quests or AI mobs to level then WAR is definetely for you.
If you like an MMORPG with classes that are varied and have interesting mechanics such as stances, building up power to make your spells more effective and healers that are (somewhat) survivable then WAR is for you.
If you like an MMORPG with tons of Public Quests (meaning you can cooperate with people randomly without being in the same team) then WAR is for you.
However if you expect an MMORPG with an end game that is interesting and fun then WAR is NOT for you. I have seen that the path to get to the endgame is much more fun than the actual end game. That may or may not change but currently the end game is crap.
Also if you like to have lots of PvE raiding and other PvE centered stuff then WAR has some for you, like Public Quests (which i think are really well done) but that is NOT the focus of the game.
But if like an MMORPG which takes a different approach than the tried and approved grind AI mob type MMORPG and instead focuses on a easy accessible PvP system then give it a shot. I did and was pleasantly surprised.
