Well, one thing I just don't like to do in games is be the group healer. So.. that eliminates 4 out of the 9 classes for me?
Shamans heal, priests heal, paladins heal, and druids will more than likely be asked to heal most of the time.
Most games I am usually a "buffer"(bard, etc.). They usually don't have any heals, or such bad heals that they are never asked to be the main healer, but this game doesn't seem to have anything like that.
Oh well, there is my rant.
Oh, wait, one more rant.. why can't stress testers post on the official site?

Priests and druids will be main healers for groups , shamans are more of a backup healer/buffer/meeler in groups and paladins..well..paladins...no one gives a shit about them.
above post is right.
And IMO, more healing classes makes the game more versatile and smooth gameplay, aswell as better PvP. You're more likely to have two healers in the group, that both can fight aswell, so it's less boring for the healers who just sit there watching health bars and click them.
I think Blizzard wanted to make the game equally enjoyable with all the classes, yes even the Paladin.
You can but right now only chars on the Pacific servers can post. It was also posted that they were looking into why that is and will fix it.

This is great to hear. I always like to be able to help people so I pick classes that can heal, but then I get tired of having to constantly watch health as people go reckless. The better you heal, the more reckless they get :P
I'm sure if I work with a good team, that won't be the case, but in Lineage 2 that's how it felt.
It seems if many of the classes have healing abilities, that the game will become a little boring because a group will be looking for many different classes just because they can heal and not for other important skills, and it seems many classes will just be healing and not using their main spells and main function in the game. This is just my oppinion though.

shaman in horde territories is pretty much the main healer with two races being able to be it whereas only one for the priest:
Undead - Priest Tauren/Troll SHaman (i think)
generally a shaman is as good as a priest in that it can heal just about as much as a priest and can fight as well. A druid can heal but generally it goes into Werebear form, depending if the party has 1 healer or not.

Tuaren and orc for shaman

Druid - Night Elf and Tauren
Shaman - Orc, Tauren and Troll
Priest - Dwarf, Human, Night Elf, Troll and Undead.
Personally, I'll either be playing an Orc Warrior or a Tauren Druid during OB, and most likely a Night Elf Hunter during Retail. (I was a Beastlord in EverQuest... I loves me pets.)

Yes, there are many classes with healing abilities...but it all depends on how you spec your talents. You might have healing, but you might suck at it too. IE: Druids can be awesome healers, or very weak ones.
It all comes down to your playstyle.

Priest are not to be played as only healers, but I will admit they are not much else. Priests have some offensive capabilities that become better (obviously) at higher levels. The Shadow Talents and shadow spells can be quite effective.
Parties will do better with a Priest as a full time healer leaving others to deal with combat. Having another class as a part time healer will be a waste of a party member.
