Well iam one of those launch players, I enjoyed the game throughly but at around 42 found the bugs, and lack of questing at that level to start to take its toll and left, well then they had comeback week so i did and once again in 20mins the lag was still there and i couldnt stand it so i left.

Well now i gave myself a buddy pass and tried it out and Iam impressed, I can fully run through citys and whatnot without a problem, and im even stealing a few friends from LOTRO to come with me since i feel we can easily and productively quest together. I must say they have change my mind about them I just hope alot of my other friends that left the game due to issues come back if even for a day to see the changes they have made to fix the major fluck up that was launch and the months after.

thanx funcom

Glad to hear you are enjoying the game.  I'm also an ex-AoC dissenter, who gave it another try and am loving it :).  Welcome back

Agreed...also a one month quitter, who returned after Craig took over, and have been pleased ever since.

Progress is happening, and I plan to stick it out now!

    PS: Patch 1.4 will ROCK!

Fury is heavily populated after the merger, and here and there people have transferred away to RP-PvP or even PvE due to the heavy amount of PvP nowadays.

With respects to bugs, crashes and memory issues the game can't even be compared anymore to 6 months ago.

I guess I'll have to obtain one of these buddy keys.  I was in the beta for a while, started in closed beta and did my best to submit bugs etc.  I decided that the game was too buggy to play it at launch and decided to try it at a later date, from reading this post I am pleased to see that some things are getting better and am willing to try it out again before I make the purchase.

with 2 high level dungeons you might actually get me back. I was 2 lvls from cap when I left and I only DID leave because i didn't feel like grinding those levels. Whens this patch supposed to make a crashdown? Also once again any changes made to healers? I always felt my healing was kinda weak.

If possible please send me a PM for a buddy key.

I'll be heading home in several hours, i have an extra buddy key to two.  If you want one i'll PM you first to make sure you can still use it (no point on wasting it) and then send one on (as long as i can find my old box :)  )

No defined time for the patch as far as i know.  Some people suggest they are pushing it off til next month as they want the dx10 update as bugfree as possible.  As for healers, they really didn't do much in way to updating or changing healing.  Heals are still based on HoTs and can be hard sometiems when you have a single tank holding onto multiple mobs.

  • EverithEverith Member CommonPosts: 482

Yea I'm a big fan of healing and thats one thing i never really liked about the game was I always felt like a Healadin or some other hybrid. Maybe i'll make a tank. Are they in high demand these days?

If someone wouldn't mind throwing me one, I would really like a buddy pass.  This is one of those games that I watched and looked forward to and just didn't try out due to it not having a trial and all of the negative press I heard from all who bought the game.  But if it's looking on the up and up, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot.

    Currently Playing: Aion
    Trying Out:
Retired: The Chronicles of Spellborn, EvE, LotRo, WoW, VG, AoC, CoX, RO
Waiting on: Blade & Soul, Black Prophecy, Global Agenda, The Agency, SW:ToR, T.E.R.A.
Working On: The 5th Dimension (coming soon)

Well they will probably launch the patch in around 2 weeks, but they will wait a bit longer with DX10 so it wont come on the same time, maybe 2-3 weeks later max.

    My guess, but not sure.

I began playing at launch, so I too am part of the "at launch it wasn't what I expected" crowd. After seeing what patch 1.4 has to offer (though I have no idea when it will be deployed), I would definitely love to give it a shot. If anyone has a spare buddy key, I'd be much obliged.

Healers are probably the best classes in game, yes most heals are HOTs but i think that all 3 classes have a instant heal also. Well you can stack HOTs so healing is nice.

If you like healers i recommend you to try one again and see if you like it, talk to some lvl80 healers and ask what have changed since launch etc.

Yes, tanks and healers have high demend , always

Guardian is the best tank, but i like Conqueror more

  • Healing is still the same as it was before in AoC...

which means it is way different than most other MMOs.  All heals are AoE(Cone, Radius, or Party), and two of the three are HoTs.  To make it short and simple, you can have one green circle heal(party wide AoE HoT), one blue circle(frontal cone, initial burst then HoT), and one burst heal(w/ 1 minute debuff until they can be healed with it again, AoE radius from healer).  You can never get more than one of each of these, so the heals don't stack with other healers or with themselves.

Essentially, no one ever, ever, ever, stands and spams heals(it's pointless), you never directly target someone for heals(it's always AoE), and.... being a healer is very much different from traditional healing in most other MMOs.

I play a Bear Shaman and I love it.  While the cast times of the different heals(green circle, blue circle, and burst) vary across the three priest classes and with feat points, I almost never have to stop and cast as my green circle is instant on next hit after being activated and my blue circle is a .5 second cast.

So if things get dicey?  You don't ever fix it by spamming heals- instead, you either split or switch aggro (it's common to have a six man group with two soldier classes as a tank/offtank, as splitting recieved damage is even more effective as the same heals heal both equally anyway, let alone the fact that soldier classes all have their own unique buff that usually only applies when their party members get hit(but not themselves)), and you use your stuns, knockbacks, abilities to reduce damage taken, roots and kiting to survive the encounter.  Also, feats have a big impact on how much you can heal and is mostly focused on timing and synergy with the rest of your abilities.

Imho, the healing in AoC is very well thought out and fun, and is one of the most overlooked pros of AoC.

Bear Shaman's are a real fun class to play. Especially good in Sieges!

Funcom are doing a great job in sorting the classes out, I like how each update adds some welcome changes which on the whole are well received. For example there are some decent TOS changes in the next patch coming through.

BS is a great class to play, its the first close combat toon i've been comfortable with. You dont feel like a heal bot spamming "1" . Having limited heal makes you think and act accordingly. BS has a 2 sec stun which i, in many group encounters,  use as "we'll out-live you" . And its a class which takes time to master, lots of micro management.

    I need more vespene gas.
