Hello everybody! My name is Maddi and I am one of the many people looking for a good MMORPG to call my home until this year's MMORPGs come out (Like Aion). I played wow and I liked everything about it but.....the quest leveling! In all my games, I play a mage and mages always suck at soloing! All I want in a game is two things!
-Grouping/mob grinding leveling
-Good pvp
If you could help me find this game, that would be so cool of you! I was thinking AoC but I don't know what kinda of leveling that is...... Please help! Thanks! -Maddi

Well, FFXI is basically forced grouping and finding a camp/pulling back 1 mob at a time style/grinding {There are quests, but you don't do them for XP....heck none of them give ya XP...you have to fight mobs.} I love to play mages too, and if you do here you have to group...its very very hard to solo as a mage to a point. Depends which one ya choose:
There is PvP called Ballista which I hear is pretty good if you get into it, and there are leagues and championships yearly for it, but its not something you can start doing right away. You can find in-depth info on it by following the link.
Stay clear of AoC if you don't want to quest grind, cause thats all that game is. Quest after simple quest that points directly where you need to go everytime by a compass or mark on the map or whatever. Its not at all what you're looking for!
Thank you very much! I will take a look at it! I was hoping for something with a little bit more pvp in it....
Still looking!
I'm really not sure if there are any MMOs with good PvP, and group enforced mob grinding! Its usually just PvE with grinding or a mix of PvP and PvE neither of which excel more than the other.
You sure you played WOW? I had a mage and he was a monster at soloing.... (but then, in WOW, what class isn't?)
AOC is a quest based game, but the mage classes have no problem soloing most content.

Well, in Wow I shouldn't bame the mage, it was mostly me =( It seems like the game I want isn't out there Anybody any ideas?
Still looking....
Hi Maddi
Lineage 2 would suit your needs perfectly, mages are rock solid, there are very few quests and there's always plenty of groups to party with.
The PvP is unique and stable, and IMO L2 has the best looking armor / weapon sets of any game i've seen.
There is a free trial available so you don't have to purchase it to see what I mean.
Hope this helps
EDIT: one more thing- AoC is a great game, I play it myself. The PvP is amazing, but the leveling relies heavily on questing. It's posible to solo to 80, but it's nice to get groups to take on the dungeons and instances as this is where you'll find some of the best loot and armor.
Don't let the questing put you off though, they're quite challenging, and have a wide variety so you won't get bored easily and it won't feel like you're doing the same thing over and over.
Sounds great! I will take a look! Thank you SOO much! I heard the game was empty so any idea what server I should roll on?
Bartz would seem the best choice, but I havn't played it for a while, check the forums and server loads.
Also see edit in above post ^
I am downloading Lineage 2 now! I just need a buddy key now! If anybody is out there, my email is bwwinthehouse@yahoo.com! Thank you very very much! -Maddi
I have the perfect game for you, Lineage 2, big grind not really any worthwhile quests has one of the best pvp systems and if you don't group or join a guild you will find it very hard to survive
ooops diddint see aztekkk's post sorry.
Oh and when you do play it theres 2 mage classes I would suggest. Spell singer, very fast but not so strong attack spells. Spell howler very strong attack spells but slow. Theese 2 where the best when I was playing not sure how things are now lol.
1 more thing, there are private servers for l2 which are free but most have some content missing.
Hey Maddi, did you manage to get a buddy key yet?
I'd suggest you ask on the official forums, I'm sure there are plenty of peopel willing to give you a key.
Goodluck
