Did you PvP? I have a question...

Did you PvP? I have a question, was there any benefit or negative to it or was it just a thing in the game.

I believe I read that you build points, fame points or something, but what are those for? Is there any reason to do it? Any reason to worry about dieing?

Screenshots and videos are necessary for first impressions, but what you can't see in them are the things that matter the most.

so...

Yes I did enter a few tournaments right off the bat.  My team earned me like 16 fame points until we ran into the Korean buzzsaw teams...  Dang they were good, but also had the most lag when we met with the Korean buzzsaws.

Never figured out what you could do with fame points if anything.

Well, the pentalty is the same as pvm. -15% life/energy everytime you die (if you have a monk to rez you). This only lasts the duration of the mission/match though, and can be redeemed by continuing to fight and survive.

I'm sure there will be some rankings and probably that’s the use of fame points.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

In PvP the death penalty is easier to lift then in PvE.

One thing I love about GuildWars is that you can evade blows by using strafe and the other movement.

    1) you can get fame youself for winning in pvp areas (tomb, arena, etc)
    2) you clan rating get bigger if you enter the guild war or the tomb with you clan, if you lose you will love rating

3)On sunday of the world preview event they even add exp for killing Players in pvp games

Like in most games i think the fame points are for ranking and competing with other members/guilds.

To see who's best, maybe later on you'l be able to spend this points to get rare stuff (or not just comparing it with some games i played, where they did have that)

Can't wait for the open beta!  image

Koreans are suck ( ok ok they are best ::::01:: )
Apocalance there is nothing to worry about , at least for now (i mean in beta-test)
There is no negative effects in the fame engine.
You win and gain one fame point or two points , if you lose , you just don't gain fame point
    and that's all.
After 100 fame points you will gain first rank in your profession.
Ranks improve your appearance and nothing more. You will have some kind staff or something like that in your hands and you can wear it in towns , so others can see that you are expirienced player...bla bla bla
Waste of time ;P . I prefer exploring and quests.
    And don't forget it's beta-test!
I think there will be some database on official web-site about ranks of players and a lot of other information about them.Like in Warcraft III perhaps...

They are for your personal ranking, rather than guild ranking. As far as I know, there isn't yet any ladder for it, but I would imagine it will ulimately work similarly to the guild ladder.

when you get 25 fame points you goto rank 1 then i thinks its 50/27 fame points you goto rank to and so on, when goto rank one you recieve a staff that is basically just for show. you will have this staff when u walk around lions arch and places like that. as for pvp there will be something called worlds at war where pvp effects pve.
