Hello there Comunity,
i played and tested lots of mmorpg to this day and came to the conclusion that for
me the best fun was always to run a clever build dungeon with a little group of guildies or a PUG.
In all the games i have plaid EQ2s splitpaw saga and many of the other dungeons in this game have been
the best i have ever seen.
Would be nice to hear some stories and opinions from you about your funnest dungeon crawls
and the best dungeons games in ya opinion.
Regards

DDO was definately most memorable for me.
It's very good the first time around with 4-6 friends(full party if possible) who also play the game first time. The instances are very well done.
Old DDO players and grinders often spoiled these moments 'cause they know where all the traps are and they come with their market buffs and endless potions to run around the dungeon aiming to finish it as fast as they can. Major turn off!
I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been -Wayne Gretzky
Treeback Farm in Tabula Rasa, no contest.
Although instances are probably my least favourite thing to do in a MMO.
Unrest in EQ...
The zone gave an ominous feel, and the trains to zone-line were of epic proportions.
Everything a budding adventurer needs to enjoy themselves.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
I always enjoyed doing the dungeons from LDoN in EQ......It was enjoyable to have to accomplish a goal in 90 minutes with a group of others.......You had to work together as a team and it really made the community stronger.....My friends list grew literally by hundreds of people when LDoN went live.
My best dungeon experience was DAOC Darkness Falls (DF).
LOTRO has some of the best instance of any game, i mean, shit busts through the walls at you, drops from the sealing...quite epic.

Mistmoore or Seb in EQ1. Nusibe in Vanguard.... gorgeous, traps, curses, massive... very fun old fashion dungeon crawl. I've never found 'instances' to be fun in any MMO, just not my bag baby!
Destard from UO before the split. i prefer open dungeons
My favourite dungeon runs included World of Warcraft Old 40 man 5hour Molten Core runs...Legend of Mir 2 had some cool dungeons too such as Zuma Temple runs and Wuma Temple runs...WoW had some cool instances though still..i'm pretty tired nothing is coming to mind right now...

I agree Ldon was good, though I'll also mention other dungeons like Karnor's Castle, the Warrens, Sebillis, Chardok, City of Mist, etc.
Almost any dungeon in EQ Classic (prior to expansions and instancing) were just phenominal fun. Lower Guk,Paw,Mistmoore etc. Camp checks being called all the time etc. Was just so much going on.
I would say Unrest in EQ as well. Nothing before or since has given as much of a fright and sense of accomplishment when "finished."
Back in the early days of EQ, Unrest was an incredible experience.
LOTRO storyline is the best of the modern era MMOs.
Fr me, it was the frontiers of DAOC. HUge instance, lots of objectives, In the end, it wasnt as muh an instance as it was the 2nd half of the game. Had a lot of fun in Darkness falls too
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
I have to agree that DDO Dungeons are a great deal of fun, but yes things go down hill very quickly if your grpd with players who just want to rush through and collect the exp rather than enjoy the ambience of the place and the traps and sudden encounters that will surprise you.
Also Unrest in EQ1 will always hold a special place in my heart, zoning into a grp of Ghouls/Zombies/Hags meant a swift death but it was always funny to see those over-zealous pullers running for dear life out of the Mansion screaming "Train from Basement to zone, GET OFF THE TRACKS".
There is many nice dungeons/instances that I enjoyed in EQ2, but the dungeon that I kinda enjoyed most was DWB bunker in swg when they released it. It had a time limit (due to buffs), insane respawn rate and the place just killed off series of groups even before they manage to enter it

Leemeg.
EQ2's Nizara at level 70 was insane had to play just about perfect to do anything. Heck even at 80 nizara is tough as hell.
Unrest in EQ2 was very cool too it was a giant haunted house with all the tricks that come with it.
I guess I have to say DDO. Place like the Pit and the Rainbow in the Dark dungeons. They just offer stuff that other games don't even come close to. The lighting effects, 3D puzzles, traps, climbing and jumping, needing to find secret doors to shrines.
I thbiggest problem though I suppose is that many people already know them or want to rush through them. Which takes away a lot of the difference in them. I admit that with the slow XP of the game and the only way to get good xp is to finish dungeons that i can feel that too.
Not sure what the solution is to the above, but i think a number of DDO instance the first time through with no spoilers are by far the best. Many are just quick dungeons runs but some do some pretty neat stuff.

Unrest in EQ2, has a great feel to the zone, tough fights and lots of fun.
I also loved old seb in EQ1
Molten Core? The most linear, boring, and tank-n-spank instance in existence? Seriously? That instance should just be deleted for all the human hours that were wasted on it to farm gear so people could get past Vael in BWL.
Best dungeon experience? Gosh, all of the pre-expansion Everquest dungeons were great. Mistmoore, LGuk, Befallen, Blackburrow.
They were scary, unforgiving, dark, and you could get lost in them. Other players and the threat of trains (i.e., mobs aggroed by another player that might run by and peel off on you) made this experience very lively.
Many, many fine memories of those gaming days.
Not fun at all. I hate camping with 50 other guys. The newer games with instances are a lot better. Nothing beat 5 guys going into a H dungeon without the fear that oh no .. the boss is already dead and there are 50 people in front of us.

Instances are probably my favourite thing to do in an MMO recently. I love nothing better than crossing a continent or something meeting with a group of guildmates outside to go on in and tackle a fun story driven instance. Some memorable ones for me were (Sorry i don't remember the name) but in EQ2 where it's a big castle that you can enter from a cave and come up through a well inside the walls and then go inside and work your way to the top boss. Inside were all mini stories too and random things... like SOMETIMES there was this gigantc horrible teddy bear and you had to kill all the little ones and him. Sometime there was this undefeatable gigantic ifrit looking thing in a room. It was a blast.
More memorable ones mostly come from DDO. Nothing was better than my first time through all the quests in beta where you needed a rogue for traps and no one knew where anything was. SO MUCH FUN. Not to mention the later quests in DDO epic things like the first time you do the dragon raid. That game really has some of my all time favourite moments... just wish it didn't peter out once you did them 400 times.
Darkness Falls in DAOC. Nothing I've played has topped it imo.

I'm thinking of the mischievous approach, such as entering a dungeon zone and finding corpses everywhere. Or hiding behind a tree and watching a hug train of monsters wax everyone trying to enter the zone (i.e., Unrest).
It's sort of like watching a bunch of free climbers at a crowded spot on the weekend. All it takes is one noob to start falling before some of the rest get dragged down. In a dungeon analogy, this can be quite chaotic and exicting. I guess there is the in-game drama it all stirs up.
There is good fun in that, too, you know.
