I've been reading some very well written beta leaker reviews as of late. Ones where as I read them I find myself laughing out loud and grinning from ear ro ear. All the time thinking "Oh shit ...... that is awesome."
Then I click on another thread which contains a leak of an in-game video. Click on the link and promptly puke all over my keyboard. Third new keyboard this week ......
Regardless, this got me thinking. If I cover my keyboard with plastic or something I might save a little money. I remember these plastic dust covers from years ago, I wonder where I could find one ...... uhhhh ..... No no no, sorry, wrong train of thought. Where was I?
Ah yes, beta leakers ...... we've all heard the "Professional Beta Testers" phrase being tossed around quite frequently with this release. People that test a game in a professional manner ..... sure, it's possible.
If there would be professional beta testers would it not be fair to assume that professional beta leakers exist? Perhaps just well spoken/written folks that ..... well ...... write a leak in a manner that makes you think "Oh shit ..... that is awesome." The advantages of this, to a company/game are obvious. At the very least off setting negative leaks would be quite valuable come pre-order time.
To be honest ...... why wouldn't a company do this whilst an NDA is in effect?
Professional Beta Leakers ....... what do you think?
Hmmm ...... AI Leaker Bots.

have you ever read a book and then saw the movie ?
I don't see the issue with the leaked video's. If you have any clue as to what your talking about, even in HD fraps video's are of poor quality and never give games justice. The screen shots look quite nice, the pvp action seems fun and the concept of the game is excellent.
There are such things as professional testers - I worked as one for a year or so after leaving Uni and was my first 'proper' job in the wonderful world of computing.
This was for offline games though, and over a decade ago. I can't really see the point of them in the modern MMO market where it's easy to find unpaid volunteers to test your games and distribute it to them for free.
I do think it's odd that there were no leaks at all until a few months ago when they conveniently started 'popping up' out of the blue, almost exactly around the time that people started questioning the Beta, the NDA and leaks as a whole.
Coincidence?
Personally, I don't think so.
Some things should be left on paper. Everytime I watch gameplay footage I die a little more inside.
the level of stupidity of posters on this forum knows no bounds.
the game is good, stable, and most importantly, great fun. get over it.
Hmmm Professional Leaker?
One of the major early beta leakers even admitted that they were only leaking to counter the negative leaks, I think its obvious many others have followed.
It certainly is amusing to read the more optimistic and positive impressions and think "yeah maybe I was wrong about this, maybe this game is not so bad after all", but then go look quickly at a Google video and just laugh at how ridiculous this turd really is.
But one has to remember some of these people are the same people who have been defending and promoting this game for years so they obviously have a lot invested in this project and are hardly bastions of objective rationalism.
It seems most are still in the "its got potential and everything will be fixed, polished, turned on, implemented, improved, beta and stress tested and fully functional in time for release, and anything that's not will be finished shortly after launch phase of denial"
After seeing the videos, and then moving a character in game you will realize that the videos and SS's don't do it justice. It is actually a very nice looking game, but it could use some graphics updates. These are all content updates and shouldn't require any code at all. Hopefully we will see it, but it is not as bad as it seems.
Hmm, I will remain very skeptical. I have heard the same song sung over and over again always ending in the same effect.

You wouldn't understand
Actually that could be true. I currently playing an MMO, and I went back and look at some of the promo videos...they just don't do justice to the real thing at all.
The combat looked kinda jerky. I don't know, but I'm not sure i'd like it. I liked DAoC combat, and even EQ2 combat on the PvP server. The DF combat seems rather inelegant in comparison. Not as smooth as an RPG that doesn't go for the aiming FPS sort of thing, and not as smooth as an actual FPS.
It looked kinda frustrating, like you'd want a PPSH or a Sten.

My opinion is that the days of seriously enforcing a game NDA are over. It's to easy to leak with the current set up on the internet, free web sites, google, etc. It's not possible to stop it.
I guess you can slow down the spread of information, the people to dumb to type in a search in google won't find it. /shrug
The point of the NDA is that you don't want people to get the wrong impression of the game before it releases. But don't most gamers understand what "beta" means these days? Are most gamers completely ignorant and stupid, and they won't be able to comprehend that the beta isn't the final game?
yes, but aren't we supposed to be 20 days from release?
So, your method is to teach by example?
I kid, I kid.
A fair statement .......
The landscape, architecture, water, atmospheric effects and vegetation do seem to look professionally done. From what I have read, the server stability is good (One exception from a guy that basically said it was shit and then more or less came back and posted an apology as they were testing servers at the time.) 10,000 logged in good? To be determined ......
I have decided that it's that third person veew that really gets me ........ it is what makes the game look really bad in my opinion. I just watched a pvp video that was entirely in first person ....... for whatever reason it didn't force me to make another keyboard purchase.
Granted there are a ton of variables associated with a beta leak video ........beta for starters, the persons specs, very low level characters ..... etc. I have however invested a decent amount of cheddar into my computer and have certain expectations for 21st century releases. If I can play <THIS> game in a sandbox with no levels and full loot PvP I will be perfectly content.
