Less and Less ORVR

Since release and prior to I was one of the most avid defenders of WAR. I really wanted this game to succeed. I am not sure about you guys but I was sold on the following concept (maybe a product of imagination or misconception from my part)



Capital City raids on WAR were supposed to be extremely rare. I thought that city raids will be the fruit of team work, coordination, numbers and sound tactical decisions. A place were the community fights gets together to either do the ultimate push or last defense.

I was living my dream, till 1.1.1 came out. In my server Volkmar which I have to admit is very balanced between Order and Chaos, both sides tried to push without a single successful Fortress take in months. As frustrating this may seem, I was happy that not everyone could have Invader. Invader gear should mean something. It should be the fruit of something big and hard to accomplish. Unfortunately, I don’t feel this is the case anymore and here is why:

1- Fortress Lord Teleport Bug. In many servers there have been reports of guilds exploiting and pulling the lord to the lower floor. This issue has been going on for months. Considering this is end game, this issue should have been prioritized and corrected immediately. Patch 1.1.1 didn’t address this issue at all. So why should we even defend a Fortress when the is so easy to bug the lord and kill him downstairs.

2- Defenders Cap. I am not 100% sure if this was a bug or intended, but last night. We had over 2 warbands sitting down in the warcamp watching with disbelief our forts being taken over. Basically less 24 people made it in. If this was intended, what Mythic is basically telling me that oRvR in this game is dead. If they are going to instance the fortresses, then that’s it. The cities are already instanced. The only oRvR left is zones and local forts.

3- The Outdoor Strategy. This is what I call good initiative, but poor judgment. Last night the outer doors was taken down in less than 2 minutes 30 seconds. I understand this was done as an effort to to give attackers are chance to negate defenders to enter for defense, but it does not make any sense at all and here is why:

There 3 doors for reason, to make attackers coordinate and have some sort of plan. Fortress outdoors shouldn’t be easier than forts. Come on, make attackers think and work together. If you wanted to make this challenging you could reduce the damage done by oil and only give the defenders limited avenues of approach to the keeps. This will require thinking and extra work, obviously nerfing the door is easier.

1.1.1 may look today as a great patch. Finally I can drop the RvE train and take over the enemy city kind of deal. Finally I can get my warlord and invader gear. In 2 or 3 months lets see what is going to happen when everyone have invader, warlord gear. What is going to keep you playing war when there is no improvement to your equipment? When defender will not care about defending the city braid it is just normal occurrence.

I wanted this game to be challenging and rewarding. A fortress siege should be an event for everyone to enjoy not only for the first 30 guys who make it in. A fortress siege should the fruit of planning, executing and hard team work. Invader gear should have been something special. Warlord gear should have been something to be really be proud off and 5 kings death should have been something MYTHICAL. It is prety sad that LV and darkpromise gear may be harder to achieve than invader and warlord from 1.1.1 on.

Try the game! Maybe you like it and form your own opinion. I personally look for challenge, to be part of an elitist. 1.1.1 have ruined my WAR experience. Do not use hacks (like  jump hack, speed hack, and other exploits) to improve your gaming experience. Rally with Mythic to force these guys drop this kind of unethical behavior

    i didnt know the patch made fortress 30 man only?

    i only resubbed yesterday after taking a break after the first month and of all the bad things people say about this game i still really enjoy it. but 30 people?!?!! thats insane

    hmmm  me self was in a fortress raid last week, was about 50-70 st destruktion  who attacked. and order who defended was even moore people , so that  only 30 from the defending side are allowed, are bullshit.

    and  cheating yes there are some , but in all of the mmorpg i been playin , theres allways some 1 doin that  :/

    Maybe you have been in a coma for about a month... I don't know tho... but it's February 4th today.
