it is DOCUMENTED that they (ccp) have done things exactly like what i said on different occasions. to deny this is to be a liar, uniformed, or intentionally not-smart.
the only full proof was t20 crap the rest have gone next to nothing
if you ignore everything else that has happened over the past half a decade+, then, sure that's all that happened.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
As a member of one of the GBC Alliances (cant tell ya which one...we wouldnt want a **** storm on me now)I will break it down for you peeps.
Basically a director from Black Nova Corp and Tin Foil Haargoth Agamar (the executor corp) who has not been on in ages but when came back still had all director roles for forum and alliance got into an argument with one of the other BoB leaders/directors (this is all speculation at this point gotta wait and see what BoB reps post on CAOD), heated words went back and forth. Not in the best state of mind he started talking to the goonies. THey of course asked for proof that he was a director so he gave them his login and pswd for BoBs forums which proved he was a director and more importantly allowed the Goons to autoarchive the forums and post them on eve forums (specifically on CAOD). Going a step further he decided an excellent backstab would involve stripping all directors of their roles and kicking corps from Alliance, and also looting the corp hangers of BoB's capitol fleets and supplies (extent of which we shall yet to see of just how much they ended up with) Goons epeen begins to get hard and they realize they not only neutralized BoB but can now head into Delve and start grabbin their assets along with every kid on the block and their mom who wants a piece of BoB's territory in Delve.
What does this mean for you.. Well for the next week or so expect lots of pew pew pew in Delve. I Dont think BoB and GBC will "pack up" and leave. For one GBC is well entrenched in Delve, BoB may not exist as an Alliance per say but their pilots are still around, and I am pretty sure they would like to stay around and send a few of the invaders back to the clone vats.
On one hand as low as what Goons did it just shows how crazy this game can be and yes...indeed this is omfgwtfbbqsauce moment but it makes things a lot more interesting and throws a nice spin to everything. On another hand i feel bad for BoB it took years for them to get where they are, I personally never hated them and never liked them at the same time..I just flew with them as part of GBC (Greater BoB Coalition or as pets...mmm we love that name)
Im sure Goons are having an orgy right now in Delve, for the time being at least. Next comes the part of trying to establish their Sov in Delve and logistics..Lemme tell ya it wont be pretty, took BoB a while to entrench there, with Goons I doubt they will hold it out there long enough to stay. I for one see this as an opprotunity for pew pew.
But thats just my two cents. Who knows maybe Goonies will keep steam rolling on through or BoB will come back. Either way, this is one of the biggest events in Eve ever.
Really there is no reason to be sorry for BoB, or any other 0.0 alliance where this could happen. They have all metagamed, sliced throats, and caused just as many people to quit to get where they are.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
I don't know why some people in this thread are crying about how 'unfair' this is or how they can't believe EVE has come to this.
Like.. are you playing the same game? This -IS- EVE. The politics make this game. If you can't beat someone fairly, you find another method. It is perfectly legitimate, and it isn't as if this is something new. Guiding Hand Social Club did something similar years ago. They spent an entire year infilitrating a corp up into the highest roles, and then executed a simultaneous theft of everything the corp owned, while at the same time killing the leader.
While this isn't exactly the same, it is the same concept, and possibly even on a grander scale due to what alliances are involved, and the war leading up to this event.
This is HUGE. It isn't unfair. It isn't cheap. It's legitimate, and this sort of freedom is what makes EVE amazing.

I have to agree.
the issue is that players don't quite get it.
And that's ok, no reason they should. Most people (a good many?) sign on to mmo's, chat with friends, do some quests, crafting, etc, log off. End of Story.
This is one of the reasons they don't get games like Eve or even Lineage 2. The game is about the interactions with players. They aren't about artificial quests or "Lila got lost and needs to be found before the darloks get her".
It isn't for everyone that is certain and I don't think it's inferior or superior gameplay but it is more epic in scope.
these games tend to expand to a type of gameplay that just can't be matched by other games as they are really about the people. Everything else is a vehicle for player vs player interaction.
And though one doesn't have to revel in the downfall of another group, one can at least see that it's this type of thing that is easily found in the movies or books.
Leader Returns, has fall out with current leader, decides to betray them to their enemies, now group is splintered and there is fighting everywhere.
It's very, very epic.

I agree with the corp espionage and everything else what puts the brakes on for me is the fact An alliance can be disbanded that fast, there is not a checks and balance issue to the fact where corps need to have a vote with a majority aggreeing to the split, in addition to the fact that yes BoB is at fault for not vetting/auditing their directors and entrusting Roles like that to peeps. I guarantee you that every big alliance in game and leadership have now realized just how vulnerable they are to this sort of thing. CCP will not hear the end of this for a while...All this emo rage is crazy.
I wouldn't be surprised if CCP doesn't institute some kind of check against this at the Alliance level... this is directly effecting over 4000 players. I am ok with it at the CORP level... but not sure I like it to be that easy for one person to screw that many people at once at the Alliance level. And if I had done this, I would be concerned about my personal safety in real life. That may seem like an exaggeration... but this guy just seriously PO'd an awful lot of people.

Yeah, Goon did not beat BoB, nor is BOB gone... well the only thing that is gone is they have lost the BoB name... Yay Goon. will there be quite a bit of fighting in Delve in the near future but I seriously doubt anything but the new BoB2 alliance will either take control of Delve or Goon will just become the new BoB. I just have a feeling that Goon will not last as long as BoB as for as many people disliked BOB there are far more that frankly just dispise goons and only worked with them because BoB was the "big Evil" of the time.
I'm at work so can't listen to an mp3 posted, if it was even discussed there, so does anyone know what the argument between BoB directors was?
No one in GBC has yet really stepped forward and gave an explanation, so far its all hearsay from the forums and whatever goons have posted which needs to be taken with a large dose of salt. I do hope a BoB rep gives some sort of rundown of wtf happened. With all the hearsay this has turned into a MMO version of a media circus.
To give my personall persepctive as part of GBC, BoB has on occassion made themselves look like asshats, recently there were even threats of BoB kicking GBC members if they did not participate on enough ops (more childish then anything if you ask me, still sent a wrong tone to us since we are their allies), let alone their interaction with their allies has been strained on occassion. Just gonna have to do the wait and see approach.
I've read the whole situation and it seems like dodgey game mechanics to me that this has shown everyone that the whole Alliance system needs a revamp because no way should one guy be able to shut down a whole Alliance. In real life you have investors who all have a say and this is what Alliances are like.
Seems to me like exploiting bad gameplay mechanics and BoB has been unfairly been taken out of the game because of some prick who has nothing better to do than be a dickhead.
Kinda just shows me that the EVE community is one of the worst out there.

I'd say that sounds like a beating to me. They took their name. It don't get much more beat than that.
Originally posted by John.A.Zoid It was more of an exploit of a poorly designed system that CCP need to role back and patch it so it takes more than one guy to shut down an alliance.
IF anything is done to add grace periods to alliance related stuff, similar to how reprocessing of characters takes time, a rollback is probably the worst sign that ccp can not be trusted when it comes to alliances.
(Hint, other alliances have been disbanded like that in the past. If ccp favours this specific alliance over the others, they're just showing bias. Which means game over for the little credibility they rebuilt over the last two years..)
Originally posted by Nicoli well the only thing that is gone is they have lost the BoB name
Incorrect. They didn't just lose the name..that's not bad, it's just as name after all. They lost all sov. All super capital building is stopped, all stations are vulnerable and can be taken, all cynojammers are down, the jump bridge infrastructure is down, baby titans and moms are getting killed, the fuel bonus is gone, sov4 constellations are down.

Yeah...losing Sov is probably the -biggest- blow this sort of Alliance can have. All infrastructure, all economical backbone, all construction-capabilities, all gone in the blink of an eye. And as far as I've heard, they lost a number of their capital fleet as well, which will make it that much harder to reclaim sov in any way, since I am pretty sure Goons are having a salsa-party in those systems right now.
If CCP does a reroll, they'll have a shitstorm of epic proportions on their tails. Other Alliances/Corps have suffered similar fates, only BoB is/was so huge it has an effect on the whole gameworld. But to show them favoritism would ultimately be foolish of CCP....though that didn't stop them in the past.
I was there and part of Dusk and Dawn when BoB used a spy, abusing a game-mechanic to destroy our Titan. There was no reroll then, so why should there be now? XD
It was the action of a few individuals, ie the bob director or the goon who hacked the account.
Either way it is no big deal, Bob will reform either under the same name or another name, and re-claim all it has lost and more.
Properpty, Sov and names dont mean much to an alliance as big as bob, its about the people, the people are still there and hence Bob will survive this easily.
I bet they are relishing the prospect of reclaiming all they have lost, pew-pew ftw!
