We use Ventrilo, a lot of people think it's better than TS, I don't have a lot of experience with either tho, so can't really compare, Ventrilo works really well tho.

Will Teamspeak work with EQ2?  Anyone try it in the beta?

My system: P4 3.0 GHz, ATI 9600xt, 1 GB PC3200 DDR, SB Live, Cable connection

My current game: (twiddling my thumbs until EQ2 arrives in the mail)
My past MMOG's: EQ 1 - 2.5 yrs, CoH - 1 month (too redundant =( ), AC2 - tried it, couldn't really get into it, Neocron 2 - beta tested it, way too buggy but a great idea that had a lot of potential

I have read in the forums here and the official forums that EQ2 is being designed with compatability in mind and that ports common to other applications are not being blocked. Also I have seen where others are using TS in beta.

TS works at least with the beta EQ2 version. I havent had any problems with it. I cant comment on other comm programs other then TS2 as I have been happy with how it works. Our guild set up a TS2 server to work while we were on DAOC. It got to the point that we extended its use to all the guilds in our alliance, creating seperate rooms for each guild and raids.

If there's a better client out there, I would be intereseted but it would need to also be able to support multiple rooms and the flexability to adjust the codecs.

I've hosted an TS server for about an year already, on an 1152/352 adsl line. No one ever had an conflict of Teamspeak with any game, softwarewise that is. some games dont allow volumecontrol and are louder than teamspeak.

I recently looked more into Ventrilo (after reading this threadimage). turns out Ventrilo freeware server has an hard limit of 8 connections per server image , multiple servers allowwed. Bigger servers are only available for official Ventrilo providers. Therefore i'm staying with teamspeak, altough my connection can only handle 14 ppl at highest codec i can always reduce codec settings. Dont want to get claustrofobia in my own server image. Some problems i see with teamspeak are considerable voice lag, also on lan. Another problem is that u have no influence on compressor/eq settings serverside/clientside, the TS dev's decided on compressor/eq settings. Has ventrilo the same problems?

why is ventrilo or teamspeak better?

The only beef I have with Ventrillio is that I downloaded a keylogger (trojan) from their download on their site. I have no clue why it was in there, and if it's there now.  I just deleted the file, and eventually uninstalled the program.
