http://spellborn.acclaim.com Check out the new site and sign up for beta if you haven't yet! Beta is coming soon!!
you are trying so hard they should at least give you a free account or something!
... but FTR. Acclaim is still pretty much equal to FAIL in my book given their horrible handling of Spellborn's once vibrant commnity. Course the devs get some of that too. the IP restrictions killed any chance of a cary over goodwill community from closed beta to launch.
People simply couldn't talk to the same people anymore.

Ooops?
I honestly don't know how they managed to fuck themselves in the ass like they did with this release. I was so pumped for this game. I mean I'm still going to try it but that's only if it survives long enough for me to be able to try it out.

You aren't the only one. It is almost like they wanted TCoS to fail with how they chose to handle releasing the game.

I know they should've never chosen Acclaim to handle the launch its obvious they dont give a shit
what's ridiculous is how a few people are defending them.
theHistorian, the, it seems, only community manager for Spellborn (he also posts here sometimes) seems to know very little, not because he isn't doing his job, but because he simply isn't given very much information to tell everyone.
I made a post about it in the forums, saying that the communication between the community and acclaim was terrible, and that they needed to realize that P2P customers expect more than the F2P players they are used to.
I was told to "get off my high horse" and that I shouldn't tell Acclaim what they need to know with my "allmighty wisdom."
I also said that i didn't understand why the game was taking this long when it was already fully translated into english and simply needed to be put on new servers. The same person said this:
"How do you know the game was fully translated, yes the client was in english but that does not mean that the server was already translated"
can someone explain to me how you translate a server?
At this point, I don't understand why ANYONE would defend Acclaim, especially anyone who's ever played a P2P game. They are an F2P publisher through and through, and clearly don't understand how P2P communities work and what they expect.

HAHA seriously? Because even on the EU or AU (or wherever this games been released)'s forums they were talking about how the games failing because of how bad of a publisher Acclaim is.
Could anyone here think of a possible motive for blocking our IPs from playing open beta while we wait for it to be released? because i sure cant and i dont really think ill wait around too much longer in fact im already going to be playing AoC with some friends which takes up just about all the space on my laptop
The problem isn't communication. The problem is you. You want information that isn't ready to be released to the public. You just want the game to be released to the public and you think it should because its released in EU. Now as logical as that sounds to you, that is obviously not the case, so stop whining.
If you want better communication with Acclaim, then post more, ask questions instead of making blanket statements like "Your communication sucks"
when you are totally new to the community and all you've asked is "WHY CANT I LOGIN??"
"Where is the DL???" "Where is my BETA Invite"
Its not too much to ask that before you start complaining about a game you do 1% of research.
Furthermore, Acclaim now has an active chat room where you can speak with Acclaim developers (historian, and mark howards included) as well as possibly inviting SiL developers in to chat with ALL public.
So in closing, I know I sound like a fanboy, and its because I am. But I have lots of information BECAUSE I researched it. You sound like a NEWB because you're asking questions that have been answered or questions that WONT be answered until they are ready.
Tards are tards, I wouldn't worry about it. Plenty of tards here too, just check out the Aion and DarkFall forums
LMAO at Mal-Juun, nice Sig.
Alright I know the answer to all our problems we should just forget about TCoS and instead wait for darkfall, considering ITS LIKELY TOO BE OUT SOONER THAN TCoS!
Furthermore, the idea that p2p customers deserve or expect more is a crock of shit.
I've played free-to-play cash shop games and believe me, F2P makes a ton more money than p2p games.
So if you think your worth as a customer is determined by how much money you are giving a company, then f2p games dominate.
But customer service isn't about p2p or f2p, its about the idea that everyone is a customer. its not like someone is checking how much $ you spend before they answer your questions. So shut that argument up too, its irrelevant and inaccurate.

I will agree with you here atleast as far as its irrelevant to this considering the game is both F2P and P2P
Back it up? Ask a question and I can probably answer it for you.
The reason you're newbs is because you won't research the answers yourself, you'll just post threads whining.
So go ahead, ask a question other than "WAAAH where is my invite??"
Please don't accuse me of not researching something. I've read all the stickies. I check the Acclaim forums every day, and I've been in the Voon chat. I've never seen the developers there, just Hist, and he doesn't know any more there than he does on the forums. I've been following Spellborn for well over a year now, and played the EU beta. I'm not a noob, in any sense.
Also, if you're going to argue that F2P games make more money than P2P games, then i'd have to say Acclaim fails just as much, because their support for the rest of their games is shit too.
I never once asked where my invite was, or where the download was, because I DO read before I post. I simply asked for more than the measly amount of info that's been given.
Back it up? Ask a question and I can probably answer it for you.
The reason you're newbs is because you won't research the answers yourself, you'll just post threads whining.

I didn't say shit about wanting an invite to closed beta, I dont do closed betas. Im just saying I think they should've gone about there release strategy a little better. For the damn games sake.
If you've done all that research then you should be just as familiar as I am with all the people asking for more information. While this might indicate that Acclaim is not giving out information, it would also indicate that the player base just wants more info than what is being given out.
It is natural to want to know more, but you also have to know that "No, that is not how we do business"
is a legitimate answer. I would love to know the intimate details of what Acclaim and SiL are doing and planning, but that is not my place as a customer to know. That is the place of developers to brainstorm and decide. The only reason I say you sound like a newb is because you are insisting for answers that customers are not entitled to. This is my opinion of course, and you may disagree, but put into perspective of other markets, Would you ask a care salesman or even a car factory worker what the new specs are for an upcoming model? If info hasn't been released its not because Acclaim is choosing to ignore you and deny you info, it is because they don't have any info they are wiling to release.
So I apologize if I assumed too much about you, but if you have done all that research it is clear that Historian and Acclaim reps make updates almost daily, and yet they are still not enough for the anxious public.
I guess my opinion is that no matter how loud or repetitive you ask questions, they won't be answered until the developers are ready to answer them, that is why it sounds like whining when you want information that is not available. Because most of us regulars at Acclaim accept that it is not available because we have seen 10 posts like this/day asking for more info.
I understand what you're saying, but in this case I'd have to disagree. If the game had not been released yet, maybe if there were an NDA or something, I could understand why they aren't releasing info, but if the game has been released and people are playing it in europe, I see no reason for Acclaim to withold info. Yes, I have seen people asking about the EU client, and asking if there have been updates when they are in the stickies. I've read the updates, and there are have been only one or two TINY updates since december, and have in NO WAY been making updates almost daily until the site change a few days ago. There was a span of weeks where they didn't post AT ALL. This may be how Acclaim does business, and I'll have to deal with that if I want to play, but there's a reason, actually probably many reasons, why they have such a bad reputation among MMO players, and this is just a prime example of that.
I'm definitely a Spellborn fanboy, but I didn't like Acclaim before, and I've tried to give them a chance with Spellborn, but they continue to fail, time and time again.
If you've done all that research then you should be just as familiar as I am with all the people asking for more information. While this might indicate that Acclaim is not giving out information, it would also indicate that the player base just wants more info than what is being given out.

i dont really care too much about finding more info i just want for once a game to be released when a company says they are going to release it
Well the info people want is not related to ingame content, so an NDA wouldn't hold back info.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the information people want is When/How/Why?
When can I play? How can I play? Why am I not playing yet?
And as best as Historian can say "We have received new server-side tools to install" (this is the newest update on what Acclaim is doing with their TCoS server client)
Again, I too would love to know more about launch and delays, but that topic is pretty much a black hole until Acclaim has completely finalized their details. Acclaim tried to be open with us about launch dates but they got delayed and pissed off a lot of people. So while I know its frustrating to not have a set launch date or info, imo, its a lot more frustrating to have a launch date announced only to miss the date and piss off your fans.
I would also like to direct anyone with questions here.
I made this post months ago when I was trying to collect information and I was very frustrated and confused with TCoS. I think this post gives some good information, but more importantly, shows that Acclaim and Historian are active and willing to answer any questions they can. So please, if you feel like you have a lot of questions that you need answered, don't hesitate to ask them in a construtive way, I'm sure they will be answered.

This game has fewer and fewer hits everyday for a reason, I thought our large playerbase would have received much more respect than it is apparantly worth. I also thought the EU population would get better treatment.
Erroneous on both counts.
Guess I'm playing warhammer till something better arises.
I just don't understand your devotion to a company that has given you absolutely nothing and for the most part ruined what could have been one of the best mmorpgs of 08/09. What do you see in them that gives you hope that we are missing? What part of them speak to you about how they will turn it all around be super successful, open, and working well within the community? Even their latest efforts are nothing but window dressing, notice how they came out with a lot of ZOOM and then... well... same as it ever was.

you are trying so hard they should at least give you a free account or something!

I honestly don't know how they managed to fuck themselves in the ass like they did with this release. I was so pumped for this game. I mean I'm still going to try it but that's only if it survives long enough for me to be able to try it out.
