Hey guys, I've always been fascinated by a game without any limits in regard to PVP and the players actually changing the world. Hardly any games do this, but it seems like the only two that do in fact do this, are EVE and Lineage 2, does anyone have experience with both and can give their opinion? I Have no preference in terms of fantasy or space, if its a quality game, its a quality game regardless of the scenary. Thanks guys

I'd say it entirely depends on your preferred style of game. EVE can be pretty impersonal (you are your ship), although that is scheduled to change as the Devs (CCP) know that the impersonal aspect costs them customers so they are going to add in in-space station social content you can walk around in.
EVE does however have economic warfare, player-elected Council of Stellar Management, epic power struggles between player mega-alliances for the soverignty of star systems, in which player-made space stations prepare for the inevitable assault of thier arch nemises. It also seems to have corporate espionage, which is a new twist on PvP that emerged this week and everyone is wondering if it's gone too far - or not.
Against that, as mentioned above EVE can feel a little impersonal, and some people complain that the PvP direct combat isn't twitchy enough. But then again with electronic warfare, massive customisation of ships, drones (robot fighters), stealth bombers, interceptors, and the big boys quaintly named "doomsday weapons" armed capital ships, if you enjoy working out how to set things up for PvP (and there are many different PvP contexts to enjoy. It's not WoW "enter que for battlefield"/"go gank" simplistic, rather what ship is right depends on what you want to do, and if you find a player corporation that suits your playstyle your options are endless, including being a pirate (teams of little cheap ships can overwhelm big ships, especially if the pirates are skilled at it) all the way through to fleet battles and conquest of star systems.
If you want to try EVE, best thing is there's pretty much always a free trial. A side note is that EVE is working on an off-the-shelf pack for EVE, which looks like it will have new-player goodness in it. They did a lot of work on the new-player experience several months ago (their old tutorial was ... pedantic) and it looks like they are about to enhance that again, so if you have the time I'd suggest try the free trial, and if you have the money I'd suggest wait a short bit then buy the box when it comes out so you can try it with extra starting toys.
EVE is good for free form player driven PvP.
Lineage 2 is just a cheap version of Dark Age of Camelot.
So I'd say, the two best PvP games, DAoC and EVE.
Darkfall Travelogues!
I would vote for Eve. Just remember that it has an extremely high learning curve. But the plus side is that you can try it before you buy it.
Side note, Try and find a "Real" corp asap. It will make all the difference in the world

Niceeee.....yeah I tried EVE like a year, maybe 2 years ago and the tutorial totally lost me. I had no understanding of what eve was either, I was a blind WOW boi, and since I wasnt slaying murlocs in the first 20 minutes I lost interest. I know understand that it's a sandbox game and totally high risk/reward.Oh yeah, any suggestions to finding a corp? Do I just ask or? Also I heard a little about BOB being brought down, is there a news article detailing why this was such a profound thing to happen in PVP? It's all very fascinating, hopefully it pulls my interest. Downloading trial now...thanks guys!
