After watching a walkthrough of this game on youtube I must say this game looks absolutly terrible in my opinion. Im not usually a gamer who judges games on graphics because Im mostly all about gameplay, but damn.... this game looks like it was developed 10 years ago.
I could be wrong though hopfully the game will be good

Sorry to report that what you saw was pretty much the game with its best face on it. It can get much much worse. That really ticks me off too because I looked forward to this game for a long time only to find out its nothing like they had claimed. This is of course if you saw some of the latest vids, Ive pretty much seen the best made and ignore the rest so I am making an assumption.

It WAS developed 10 years ago, almost. It's a game from the past, and an average one, brought today; an interesting archeological thing.
If I didn't have homework to do I would be playing the game now.
The beginning is tough because it's hard to get used to, but after an hour or two, it's extremely fun.
Maybe the game isn't for you, but in my opinion it seems well made for being in beta and in debug mode.
On top of that, the guy that made the 15 minute or so long Intro that complained about every living corner sucked at this game. He cried about magic being dodgeable long range, but what should you expect, it to be a instant hit because you aimed at him? Sorry buddy, but this isn't WoW, you have to lead your opponent to hit them.

That's on medium settings but with shadows on. It's not, not even CLOSE to being ugly. It makes WoW look like a game made two decades ago. Seriously people, what the fuck are you guys complaining about?
The only thing that stands to be improved upon are the animations, but only slightly or it will cause lag in 200+ battles.
This game started as a nitch game and continues to be a nitch game. It is not trying to appeal to the masses. I would think that aventurine would be fine with 50,000 to 100,000 players. They will make back the money they put in and continue to make money with these numbers.
I plan on playing this game until the next game comes out that is not the usuall MMO clone. It will be fun if you take it for what it is. It will not be the greatest game ever. It will be fun for some,not for others. No big deal. I don't understand all this psyco hype on both sides. It is a game, not the second coming.
How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?

Funny thing is , i just went trough a lot of the old post for darfall on this forum , the fans and haters have attacked each other about the same , but the only real different is alot of the fans are haters now and a the new fanbois are new to the forums.
and seen alot of new one since Big T made his new date changing post and the pre order that was never going to happen i like this one the best

The beginning is though because they don`t use the normal mmo UI. It`s like starting a game for the first time, and I don`t really like that part. But as told before, you will get used to it after a few hour.
The graphics are ok, but you wont bother because you will constantly look for the movement of other players. And that`s what make the game fun. You are constantly on guard because you can`t trust anybody. It doesn`t matter if the player you meet is same race, ally race, grey, red or an enemy race, you simply don`t have any controll on the situation. Scary, but fun.
And this game isn`t for the average mmo player. This is a pure PvP mmo where we kill npc`s to replace lost gear or get gold. Everything you do in DF is to support your PvP agenda.

so they do want PvE people, just see how long until they find away to keep them safe like UO did, PvE is money in the bank

Also, of all the beautiful videos on youtube that you can see of the game in its glory, it's not even the best, because the graphics are capped at medium settings.

Ive been in numerous betas and every time the beta runs like crap, fanboi testers claim "well it must be in debug mode". The developers never confirm this, the game realeses (age of conan, vanguard come to mind) and its laggy and glitchy as hell

I don't get why ppl keep complaining about the graphics.
Ofcourse youtube videos are going to look crappy, they are all of low quality.
If u think THIS looks bad then ok, that is ur opinion, but in mine, it is more then good enough.

Graphics are inconsistent in my opinion. The sky looks great, but a lot of simple things like water and vegetation looks horrid. Personally I find a lot of things to be bland and boring in style. It just feels like the creation of some stuff had zero artistic creativity. It's like comparing the physical design of a mac to the same of a dell, with DF being the dell.
The models, however, aren't as bad as people have them claim to be. The mahrim look good. DF does allow for nice scalability as well. You can essentially set the graphics so low that it looks like a direct3d game on a voodoo 1. Don't expect instant 100 fps if doing so, however. It gives you an extra 15 or so.

Actually, they have confirmed this, multiple times.
Also even in this state, most people with decent computers get 60-70 fps on average even in group fighters with the graphics on (including shadows).
Seriously, wait and see. Two weeks, the world will be in awe at this truly wonderful game.
