I just starting out on EVE. I was wondering if there was any pointers or help that any might have for a new player. I really not sure to how to even get started. Does race make much difference? Well i not sure what to even ask? Thanks

Race effects 2 things.
1. Initial skills.
Later you can train any skills you want and fly all races ships with no penalties so not very important.
2. Learning Attributes. These decide how long it takes to train things, all races/bloodlines have the same total but they are distributed differently. So one race might train skill A faster and B slower and the other might be the opposite.
Unless you are making a very speciallized alt you should go for as balanced attributes as possible with slightly less in charisma.
You will probably get the advice to start a Caldari->Achura->Mook as that combination gives very balanced stats with very little charisma.
But even if you go with some unbalanced race/bloodline it's not large disadvantage, once you add learning skills and possibly implants your initial attributes from your race will only make up a smaller part of your total.
My advice is to go with what ever you think looks best/are most cool. The worst thing you can do in this game early on is to get obsessed with skillpoints. If you do then you will only feel behind.

K...thx for theadvice i guess i just need to create the char and do the tutorial to see what to do next.
1. Do the entire tutorial and try to pay attention
2. Ask questions
3 Ask Questions
4. Think your annoying people with questions ask some more
5. and For the love of god interact with people don't try to figure the game out by yourself or play solo all the time.

Go to site linked above, apply for membership. Fly to Korsiki. Can't go wrong from there.
Do all 3 Racial Tutorial arcs, Combat, Business & Science.
It will get you a full set of +1 Implants, 4 Frigates and around 6 skillbooks
Until they change the tutorial paths.
Like i just told the other poster to eve, 1 real rule and will effect alot of how you go on.. don't fly what you can't afford to loose. cause you will lose it sooner or later.. like me and my noob days and my first battleship, total four days grind to get and equip, less then 3 hours in low sec trying it on npc mobs, and a nice gank squad got me ..

Actually, it does matter what base stats you give your character, so I recommend until you know better, consider following one of the suggested builds in this document

First of all, remember the NR.1 rule in EVE,wich overrides anything anyone tells you in any situation: "DO NOT FLY WHAT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE!"
Now that we got that out of the way,il start by answering questions and giveing advice:
1. Races do not realy matter at all, except looks (note that devs are planning on adding stations and walking around with avatars, soo pick a race you like how it looks or that you like their overall style.
However you must note that each race has different starting stats, soo you still might want to check that out.
2.Stats: affect the time it takes to learn new skills, soo you might want to take note
Memory
Inteligence
- these 2 are for electronic, industry, science and learning skills mainly etc.
Perception
Willpower
- mainly focused on ships (t1 and t2),also weapon systems etc.
Charisma
- this one is focused on tradeing, social skills (better standings, better pay from missions etc)
Soo make your choice based on that,NOTE (what I illustrated is not the only things those stats focus in,but it's mainly what you will encounter, soo do more research if you are unsure)
After youve created a character,do the TUTORIAL and pay attention, alot of stuff is explained there and then ask questions... not only will you actualy get prompt (and usefull) info on stuff the tutorial doesnt answer when asking but you wont get "do the tutorial and then come back response".
Also despite what alot of people will say,do not focus on training learning skills to lvl 4 advanced on all ,focus on training for something like a cruiser and weapons for it + tanking skills then if you like the game and want to keep on playing, slowly train your LEARNING skills cause they help in the long run alot, also cheap implants will help out aswell.
can't be bothered to linky, so you'll have to look it up yourself.
Made a long post/wall of text about general help/tips for newbies. Look up my posting history should be under 'are ccp xxxx for noobs' something like that
